I dont mean brexit kind of Europe talk either, I know we’ve mostly been joking about European qualification so far tongue in cheek but we don’t seem to be slipping away from that little cluster of Wolves/Man U/Tottenham Hotspur, we’re keeping the pace. Like we’ve done since wilder took over it’s just about the next game that’s all we’ve ever done rather than get ahead of ourselves which is fair enough as there’s still a long way to go (16 games) personally I think if we can get 12 points between now and the first few weeks of March against
Arsenal (a)
Man City (h)
Crystal Palace (a)
Bournemouth (h)
Brighton (h)
Aston Villa (a)
Norwich (h)
Newcastle (a)

if we can get 12 from that group of fixtures it’d take us to 44 points with 8 games remaining another 12 points from the remaining 8 games could possibly see us qualify for Europe. A couple of problem’s we’d have though is an FA cup run and also the fact the last 8 games include Man U, Chelsea Leicester and Spurs.
I’ve had a quick look at the previous few seasons Burnley qualified on 54 points which we’re 22 points off at the moment.

So when will everyone else be happy to seriously talk about Europe or are you already?

They’re all still waiting for us to fade away...............But it ain’t happening

We are in a relegation scrap so this is BS. Our mate Garth would have heart attack if we got in Europe.

If we're going to get to Europe we need at least 15-18 points from that lot.

I'm not taking any talk of Europe seriously to be honest. I'm just more than happy enjoying the ride and long may it last. At the minute if it happens, it happens and it will be great as I just want to see us get in to Europe once, but at the minute I'm not too concerned about it.

Why not talk about it now, you're sitting in sixth. With your results so far, there is no real reason why you couldn't qualify, for probably the Europa or even higher..
However, a word of caution. Unless you're very lucky & unusual, it can SERIOUSLY f*ck the next season up.
It starts fairly early, July probably. It's very common to the start the PL season, already with injuries picked up from having a shorter Summer break & playing very competitive games when you'd usually be playing friendlies.
If you get through, you'll be playing quite a few weeks on Thursdays & Sundays; forget about Saturday kick offs for a while. It also takes its toll on the whole squad.
Obviously you'll be earning extra revenue but personally, I honestly think qualifying for it is a poisoned chalice.
Go for it though. If you get it you'll be delighted, if you don't, take some relief from this post!

You’re not selling it to me pal. I would honestly rather not bother. Our chairman seems to agree.

Personally I’m fucking sick of talking about Europe. 3 years since the vote to “take back control” and we aren’t there yet! Sick I tell you.

Sensible words, something our clubs never had so I’d love the chance to visit a Slovakian village for a 1st qualifying round. In all seriousness though I fully understand what you’re saying the schedule is relentless.

We can start talking about qualifying for the Europa League once the Champions League is out of reach.
We’re 7 points behind Chelsea with them still to come to the Lane. Not insurmountable.

We just have to better the results of Leicester, Man U, Chelsea, Spurs Arsenal, Leicester, Wolves, but we have to do that anyway to keep up there in the top 10. The top 4 drive is coming.

Still a long way off Europe talk for me though.... We'll have a look again in March

Absolutely correct. You need a squad like Liverpool, Chelsea or Man City to survive a season of Europa League pre qualifications. If it happened in 5 years time and we were more established I would take it. Right now I would be happy with a finish just outside the European places. I say happy, I would be living the dream!

Europa is far to basic for Wilder. We'll do Champions League instead.

Nothing would make me happier than Basham, Billy and Didsy playing in the Champions League. Billy will just play Champions League games

Some perhaps have been counting down the games and working out the scenarios as to whether we can get there or not but as long as its mathematically possuble then we keep going.
Is this the Final Countdown is the question .......gets coat...:tumbleweed:

Stay up and win the FA Cup. Then we're in the group stage. Qualify through league and we have qualify for the group.

Just imagine... winning the FA Cup (not the tin pot Rumbelows) and having at least 6 games in Europe (not against spora luxembourg). They'd have nothing to say anymore!

Interestingly, 32 points is the lowest total for 6th after 22 games in Premier League History. As an aside, 39 points is the 2nd lowest for 4th after 22 games too. This could indicate we’re on for lower points needed to qualify for Europe.
