What happened to those who questioned the Prince's commitment?

Has McCabe made mistakes? Good Pele, Yes! By the bucketful! Not least his complicity with the out of his depth Warnock in throwing away our Premiership status!

Is he a complete charlatan, indulging his lust for power and lucre by a calculated and malicious asset-stripping of our football club? Absolutely not. It's cost him a fortune. He deserves our respect for that, not our derision. He's still in there punching when lesser men would have thrown in the towel long ago. If and when we emerge from our present malaise, he'll be one of the first to whom I raise a glass.

No. You jump to a false conclusion. What you have to do is something that might fall remotely within the definition of "support". Constant negativity and repeated destructive criticism is outwith even the widest construction of the concept.

As to the finances. Our annual expenditure exceeds our annual income. That's football but someone has to fund the deficit and it sure as hell ain't a cup-tie or a replica shirt!

'Destructive criticism'

You act as though the Prince and McCabe actully read, or give a fat, slippery shit about what is said on here.

My support of Sheffield United is my issue and not your concern. As said, if Adkins turns into another Clough, another Wilson, another Adams ... whatever, then the club is unworthy of my support. We have had enough of false dawns and 'hail the new king' with blind optimism the new manager will be bestowed with the wherewithall to even get out of the third division, only to see key players sold and the residual play like cunts. The board has to support the manager and regardless of people's unfounded and unsupported insistances that Clough was supported, the proof is in the pudding. We need key areas strengthening and goals scored, or we will be in the same position next June hoping another messiah walks into Bramall Lane.

Again, you don't think providing funds for the signing of 20 odd players is a pretty good foundation and support for the argument that the Board funded Clough handsomely

That's better a single paragraph answer, you're finally getting the hang of this posting malarkey which to be fair to you should be with nearly 3000 posts in about 18 months.

Funny, I don't recall the existence of Forum rules where the length of posts are concerned. Maybe you've allowed yourself to believe that writing short is the only format there is? Let me advise you, it isn't. I know that some posters, possibly yourself, struggle beyond a paragraph or three. All I can suggest is that you make a gradual transference from tabloid to broadsheet, at least that way you'll be introduced to the wonderful world of the English language.

You mean our post-Norman tongue?

No, because as I keep repeating, anyone can bring in 10 or more mediocre journeymen and benchwarmers for fifty sheets and a chance to get playing and earning a performance fee again and state they are 'undisclosed', only to find out the English third tier is way above their heads. Then stick out a bald statement that a right back cost us millions to satitae the critics. You can sign sixty players, Pinchy, but if their ability is Sheffield and Hallamshire, then don't expect them to be beating Yeovil Town.

Don't you think it more likely that the 20 odd players Clough signed last season were being paid above the odds for the 3rd Division rather than £50 (given that they could get paid a lot more than that elsewhere)? If you can't accept that, I am afraid it would appear you are impervious to rational argument and just want to believe the Board are shafting the club (for reasons unknown to me).

I agree that the Board's decisions have by and large been disastrous over the last few years and there is plenty on the charge sheet that you could throw at them if you want to have a go. Arguing they did not provide funds last season is just ludicrous.

Just curious to know why?

He's taking the piss. It's from an episode where Robbie Coltrane plays Dr Johnson who speaks in a very verbose roundabout way. I think he is suggesting your speak in a similar fashion.

No. Brayford, Done and possibly Murphy's contract to keep him at the club (because if he went, we'd be proper fucked last season) were possibly high-end for Div One. But are you suggesting we brought in Freeman, Coutts, Holt, and even fucking Higdon and paid them handsomely? If that is so, then who do we blame? Who is actually accountable for this? And what of the other signings? I assume none of them were above £100k? I say this because of the lack of transparency in supporters understanding exactly why we sold Maguire (for example) and where that money went. I don't accept £2.5m was spunked on Brayford. That simply does not auger. The 'quality' shown in these other signings shows either scouting ineptness and/or a lack of board-level "what exactly does this player bring to Sheffield United governence", by the board, to the supporters they are responsible directly. It isn't for want of rational argument Darren. I just want to know why it has been such a fucking disaster and better still, lessons have been learned in the way of a manger who has credibility and won't fnd himself short changed as the transfer window closes and forced to buy more horse-power-light journeymen bceuase the supporters are questioning the boards' intent in light of zero signings (as it was last August/September)

Glad we agree in priciple. Not supporting Adkins will be a terminal crime for this club. We will not recover from that.

"This is a thread"

This is beyond belief you have moved from writing essays to responding with one sentence in the course of this thread. Well done keep up the good work :D

Obviously got a lot of time on your hands.....then read more of my posts, you'll see they vary in length and tone. I'm always happy to offer advice to those who wonder how writing can be such a wonderful means of communication.

Apart from the grammatical error, I take it you are in the 'Pinchy camp' in that unless you prove your Bladey-Bladeness by going to every game and live a mile from Bramall Lane and agree with every fuck up McCabe thinks up next you aren't a 'supporter'?

You talk out of your arse, Mobile. Seriously, you do.

pommpey

I may do, but the quantity pales into insignificance when compared to you. See if you can find where I have ever called a performance "the worst ever" when I was not at the game - only substantiated by a radio summariser and a 52 second clip on you tube. Now that is talking out of your arse.

And no, I don't think some of the decisions made by McCabe have been the best although I still believe they were made with the club at heart. Having met and spoken with him on a number of occasions, I do think he is always thinking what is best for the club. In the same way I have worked with many staff who make the wrong call but do so with the right intensions.

As I have said before, bringing in that number of players even on average third division wages would have cost a fair whack. The Board must have given Clough a significant budget for players. If he chose to spend that on a large number of mediocre players rather than a few good ones, that's an issue for him is it not? Or are you suggesting that non football people (the Board) tell the football person (the manager) who he can and can't sign? I suspect very few managers would be prepared to work on those terms and I am sure most of us would be up in arms if McCabe were to say "yep, we had to funds to buy players X, Y and Z that the manager wanted, but I didn't like the look of them, so I said he couldn't".

I'm happily retired thanks but I still do not have as much time as you appear to have going on the number of your posts in the last 18 months.
