Between the 5th position and the 11th position is a difference of just 4 points, that is definitely wide open for the 7 clubs involved. I would not rule out any of these clubs making 5th or 6th.

Put it this way, if we where one of the 7 clubs, I would expect us to be still in the mix.

If it was us, I'd be quite giddy too. But the truth is, they are very unlikely to get any nearer than they are now. If they win 6 out of 8 remaining matches, a very tall order but one Bruce says they have to achieve, to match them Villa and Preston have to win 5 and draw 1 out of 8, Derby have to win 5 and draw 2 out of 9, Bristol C have to win 6 out of 10. Barring some amazing results, goal difference means they can't be level.
Now if they were in 7th, maybe, but just one of those teams has to achieve the above and it means 6 from 8 isn't enough.

My mate is convincing himself they’re gonna make it in. He won’t listen to the fact that they’ve played, of note since Bruce walked in, us and Derby in terms of quality. And they didn’t really trouble us bar the Hutchinson chance. They’ve beaten Middlesbrough all season in terms of top 6 (and Villa away in September when Villa were poor - unless I’m missing someone??) They don’t beat top sides. Or at least haven’t.

They’re 4 points off the top 6. That’s 2 games minimum with only 9 left. So 7 games to play with. They’ve got the top 2 to play. Leaves them 5 games. As well as Forest who are above them and battling. Bristol have 2 in hand as of end of the weekend. Pigs GD is shit n all.

If they get in then they’ve done extremely well.

I don't think it's that unlikely they could finish 6th. They are not favourites, Villa and Preston are in good form, Boro and Brizzle are both on bad runs. They are right in there with a chance though. I think another problem for them is injuries, they seem to keep getting them at the moment. It's probably due to the fact they aren't used to running about as much.

I seriously hope we don't end up playing them in the play-offs.

Looking at the table and current form I think it's now quite likely that we'll play them in the semis. 3rd v 6th. I'd rather play anyone else but still think we could beat them over two legs. UTB

For them to make the play-offs, they'd most likely need to at least get 4/6 points against Norwich & Leeds which would obviously help us. The closer they are to 6th, the closer we'll be to securing 2nd

There are so many permutations I can't even be arsed to type them all out.

They could beat Leeds and lose to Norwich and finish 6th while we finish 3rd.

They could draw against Leeds and draw against Norwich and finish 6th while we finish 3rd.

Or they could beat or lose against one or the other and draw against one or the other or alternatively beat or draw and lose against one or the other.

we could lose every game between now and the end of the season, so can leeds and Norwich... it’s not going to happen, let’s just keep tight to the top two places until the last two weeks, then who knows...

If we’re doing silly permiatations, we could be champions at home to Ipswich... as likely as all the above scenarios..
