4-4-2 for the play-offs?

I know it's all a gamble either way but If we have to stay in the Championship we will then have three windows in which to build a team that could perhaps hold it's own in the Prem, instead of trying to build under the kind of continual pressure we will be under up there.
Personally I think we'll go up, just saying it won't be all bad if we don't.

Although the clammer from the weak bladders for Mr Wilders head will be a problem either way I'm thinking ....

Do you think it's your manager showing his inexperience in regards to English Football.

That Le Bris might not understand that the best way to get promoted through the playoffs is to go into the semi finals with momentum and in good form, which usually fills your players with confidence to win the semis and go on to win the final.
Le Bris has definitely been found out and my bet is that he will be sacked 12 to 15 games into next season when we fail to go up and he has us floundering in the Championship - playing as we are ATM.

If 4-4-2 means we play less tippy tappy bollocks at the back and looking to turn their defence around like we did today then I’m all for it in games we think we can win. It was refreshing to watch us today.

It would be harsh on Brewster as he played well tonight, but with his two recent goals and actually being a winger I'd go with Brooks as a starter on the right. That said I've nothing against putting Brewster up top with Campbell in place of Moore, who could come on later with Cannon.

If we go 442 I think Moore is the key player

I'm half yay and half nay in this one. We lacked pace in our attacks tonight in the first half, with the main threat coming when Brewster and Campbell combined. Playing them together might encourage them team to get the ball to them quicker. For all his graft and hold up play, Moore is very slow and he slows our attacks as a result.

Think we’ll stick with this set up though perhaps options on the right where Brewster isn’t a natural winger. If we got to Wembley, JRS would probably love those open spaces.

O’Hare, Davies, Brooks and Holding were excellent subs to be able to bring on. It was also sensible using McCallum to rest Hamer.

He might have time to ponder Rak-Sakyi and BBD as other options as well.

Moore brings us a good focal point to the attack and of course he’s excellent when defending set pieces too. Campbell starting and O’Hare coming on, giving energy against tiring legs is a great option.

I wouldn’t be overly surprised if he doesn’t start Cannon alongside Moore on Monday. He has to look at the bigger picture. Campbell unlucky not to score but not sure he’s worth risking getting injured given the current state of the tie and his importance to the team.

Won a penalty and got a player sent off by running in behind though. I also thought he was half decent in possession with his back to goal. Gave it away a couple of times but generally retained it. He’s a handful and defenders don’t enjoy playing against him.

I've said this a few times, but if we turn up to the play-offs with a £75m squad playing 4-4-2 long ball to Keiffer Moore like it's still 1998, we'll deserve Championship football next year.
I would have said exactly the same thing but to be fair it worked. Quite amazing actually, it was a bit like watching a good Warnock team. Big man and quick man up top. Four at the back. Two battlers in midfield. And a bit of pace and skill out wide. Lots of direct diagonal balls and long throws.

I can’t believe that this is the way to win promotion but I guess it’s horses for courses. And if you have quality players you can make any formation work, at least at this level.

Will be interesting to see if we revert back to 4231 against Sunderland or CoV.

Isn't Wembley the same size as BDTBL?

It did yeah. Who knows how it would have ended if it was 11 v 11 but it paid off on the night.

Not sure we'd get away with it against Sunderland. They have a lot of technical ability in the middle of the park.

It's all about styles
4-4-2 with kieffer up top is great v Bristol City as it heated their press and they have a lack of height

The partnership of anel and Robinson is fine too as they don't really bombard the area or tgrougb the middle
V cov you'd think 4-2-3-1 again as they just couldn't deal with it last time round but would lap up us playing it long ,they love to get crosses in so I'm not sure the centre back pairi g could remain the same

V sunlan it's a bit more complicated as with ballard if think the out ball to kieffer might be a bit more evenly contested but that would leave Campbell on Luke o nien which is a physical mismatch
So perhaps some kind of hybrid

Wembley 115 yards x 75 yards
Bramall Lane 112 yards x 72 yards

You might recall we had to increase the size for Womens Euros
OK thanks. I thought I read somewhere on here that the pitches were the same size 🤷

Getting Campbell one v one against allude O’Nien would be handy. He’s taller and quicker. O’Nien is a walking yellow at the best of times.

442 would stop Sunderland as it would crowd the space. They have pacey players on the wings and up top and the midfield like to keep the ball and run with it. An early release to off ball runners ripped us apart last time and we tired out chasing them all game as they passed through the defensive two time after time. 442 would stop them doing this as there'd be limited space to pass to the off ball runners. Last time I checked they didn't have an Oli Norwood or Gus Hamer who can do this.
