Welcome to Micky Adams

I assume you'll be happy Bergen? Seems Adams style is pretty much what you wanted, i.e. Get the ball into dangerous areas with as few touches as necessary?

Big congratulations to Micky and Corky. Looking forward to Micky bringing in some young talent from the lower leagues. I want to see young hungry athletic fast tall players who can compete and play football.

I hear Micky could be back in for his vale keeper and centre half, lads who will want to prove themselves unlike some of the rabble we have at the club. Hopefully Micky will give them some heart and let them know what we expect at the very least from them, passion.

I expect us to play more like Reading from our promotion season than I do Wimbledon. I think we will mix up once we get the right players in

And when are we going to have the cash to do that? There are no right players, only the ones we have. And selling off only a few of them is going to be both problematic and leave us without a full subs bench.

Adams was my first choice until SOD put his hat in the ring (then took it back out again), so I'm happy enough with the appointment. (Pure) football wise probably a backward step, but from getting wins and points on the board perspective probably a few steps forward.

The board claim we are skint and in the past the managers at the Lane that have been relatively successful with no money are the direct football merchants. Not got a problem with the type of football we will get with the new manager provided we are successful (I'm sick of watching that rubbish this season, knowing that the defence are going to drop ricks somewhere along the line and drop 3 points with it). Good luck Mr Adams.

Slightly OT since I've seen teletext reporting that Mickey Adams has been appointed I keep getting the Madam I'm Adam thing in my mind

It's more complex than that Wards. I thought we were rubbish under Blackwell, far too one dimensional and far too negative. I'm hoping for varied attacking play with width, pace, power and skill! And zonal marking please!

As a Coventry fan, first and foremost I come in peace, and as a former resident of Sheffield on the Blades side of town I like to see you do well.

Regarding Micky Adams, I can honestly say you have got a fairly decent manager, who for us played good attacking football and was honest to the press and the fans.

I thought when he managed Coventry we had one of our best seasons since relegation, and raised us above our usual mediocrity, and general cr*p.

I was sad to see him go in the end but he had become a bit stubborn towards the fans and press after some criticism, and this seemed to affect his team selections. He also seemed to lose some of the dressing room after a petty spat over the players christmas get together. A sad end to someone who served my club well.

I personally wish him luck, and hope he does well with you.

After flirting with the playoff places, we are fading fast, as people get wise to Ady Boothroyds hoofball, hopefully though next season is the one (but after ten seasons of same old I live in hope not expectation)and I hope you are there to join us.

Best of luck to Micky.

Nice one Cov.
Is Boothroyd really that much of a hoofball merchant?? I always got the impression he tried to play good football?!
Thanks for your well-wishes and it's simply a case of time will tell.
Good luck to you and your Sky Blues for rest of the season.

Cogratulations Micky and Corky!! I can't think of anyone better suited to pick our shower up and point them in the right direction. It won't be an easy task, but you two can do it.
All the very best!!!

Broken hearted vale fan in peace....
Congrats on such a great appointment. Micky Adams has revolutionised port vale over the past 19 months. When he arrived at the club we were heading towards the BSP and now we are 2nd in the league. Obviously we knew that he would never be able to turn the blades down and I wish him all the best in the future. Hopefully we will find a good manager who can complete the job Adams started.
It’s defiantly been a difficult Christmas for vale fans!

All the best for the rest of the season.

And the same to you VTID... Adams said he was gutted to have left but as Speed said when he was asked to become Wales manager, you don't know how many opportunities you're going to get to take your dream job.

Good luck mate. That must be hard for you. It happens to us all, though: We sold Jones, Deane and Currie. It broke my heart every time! Don't let them appoint a chap called Blackwell, whatever you do!

or one called Robson and then there is that chap called Speed who should be avoided as well.

And don't go for the bison headed one either, goes by the name Laws.

May be I expect too much from this but I hope the day comes soon when we have NO loan plyers in the team

Good luck to Micky and Corky, not my first choice but not bad appointments by any stretch of the imagination.

A plea to all fans though... please can we give a manager more than 6 weeks before turning on him. This team will not be turned around overnight. Confidence is low, the squad is threadbare with little or no room for chopping and changing the line up. The only way it'll change is if the manager and team are given the time and support to turn this squad around. The nucleus of a good team is there, it just needs someone to come in and give it some proper motivation and guidence.

Looking through some of the recent threads (where the usual suspects have clearly used telepathy to determine Micky's tactical plans for the forthcoming seasons) it just shows how much some of our fans need to pick holes in everything the club does. I'm not expecting everyone to be happy-clappy but these hissy fits when people don't get their own way are starting to wear thin now.
