i think we'll win (controversial) .. Liverpool are due an off day. plus. Salah doesnt' track back at all. TAA nearly got exposed a couple of times yesterday. JoC and Enda will have him on toast, much like they did with Saha

Like the idea of a back 8 - double up the wing backs and sit Jags in front of the three centre halves to provide extra projection. Fleck in the (enormous) hole and Moose up top.
 
Since the game in 1978 Liverpool haven't had a brilliant time of it at the lane. United have won 4 drawn 3 and lost 1, one of those draws was the infamous Gerrard penalty awarded for intent 🙄
Anything no matter how unlikely is possible.
 
We are 8/1 to win - when was the last time we were that price for a home league game?

Mourinho's Chelsea, under Warnock would be my guess.

If we start Robinson and McGoldrick then we'll have to rely on set pieces to score.

otherwise, we'll batter em. No doubt.
 
Continuous defending wears you out physically & mentally.

We have to get our of our own box and even out of our own half , just occasionally.

I want Lunny & the Moose re-creating that breakaway goal , all through this week.
 



People generally talk about the 'intent' penalty incident featuring that cheating twat.

People seem to gloss over his cheating penalty at Anfield that got them the lead. Can't remember the official, but he literally put it on a plate for Gerrard by warning Kozluck? that he's watching him during the corner routine for pulling..

Gerrard then falls over for very little reason from the resulting corner and ref awards a pen.

My heart yearns for a win or 2-2 say, but my brain is saying it could be 0-2 or 0-3 depends what Liverpool turn up, if they rock up already having thinking they've won they'll be sorry.

But seriously for a moment , so much depends on the referee & VAR this coming Saturday.
We had a good straight chap at Goodison , who refrained from giving "homey" decisions , like when Baldock's 2nd half challenge from behind Bernard who was going nowhere could have easily been a penalty , pulling Everton back to 1-1.

As the less skilful group of players , we will have to put our bodies on the line to keep them out - how we do that + how it is interpreted by the decision-makers , will be key.
One of Wilder's high points of the season - he was quoted on joining us in 2016 as hugely respecting Klopp - this Saturday the apprentice gets to take on the craftsman - it's a mouthwatering prospect.
 
Logic suggests Blade 1 Liverpool 3

However when ever we play Liverpool at the Lane it’s weird how logic consistently goes out of the window.
So I really believe we’ll match them, so predicting a 1-1 draw.

I know what you mean and as I said before they should beat us comfortably- “should”.

I just want us not to capitulate like Watford did on Saturday and make them work to earn it. I’ll be happy enough then
 
their are a few factors which I think could result in us getting something in this game

1. Our tactics/system are relatively unknown quantity to Klopp
Yes he would have done research, but has he gone as far back to our Championship days to have a look at our strengths and weaknesses? i'm not too sure... we could catch them out with some nifty Norwood passes, and the sheer pace and trickery of the Mousse. Let's hope they underestimate us like so many teams have done in the past. The players will revel in this opportunity to test themselves against the best. I thought our defence at Everton was great, we set out to stifle them and it worked wonders... if we can also up our game in possession and be clinical in attack, I think there will be opportunities to damage them - it is a big ask though.

2. Home factor
Not sure Bramall Lane quite has 'fortress' status yet this season (although it has been in L1 and Championship of course). We could really do with being as loud as possible on Saturday, every single time we need to be encouraging the lads and then getting on Liverpool player's backs while they're in possession.

3. Luck (and VAR)
However much we believe VAR will go against us this season, we are also due VAR decisions in our favour. One disallowed goal to nullify their advantage and psychologically we are back in it and fighting. I'm not saying we should be relying on this, but it could be a factor.
 
Heart says we will compete, head says we will be lucky to keep it under 5......
