United players you just didn't like?

Lee Hendrie, because he was a cunt.

Diego Di Girolamo, I never understood what people saw in him and his massive ego

They've already been mentioned, but Michael Twiss, Jonathan Hunt, and Ian Hamilton. All of them used to really grind my gears for some reason.

Suspect they were all in the Not Good Enough category rather than being actively dislikeable. Why do managers pick players who palpably aren't up to the job?

Simon Francis for been quality now but nothing with us and seem to remember him been critical of United, but maybe that was because he should have had more football.

Not keen on Hendrie obviously, like others have said. Henderson, and also Andy Taylor for missing the pen at Wembley and been generally crap and seem to remember when he joined he said he would take the move in his stride and the step up in level, when he turned out to be crap!

Not keen on John Paul McGovern now, but liked him when he was with us.

Darren Bullock, Marcus Williams & Baxter.

Baxter probably the most, he really didn't care.

I find it difficult to "dislike" players purely down to a lack of ability. So in the spirit of this thread, I'm going with Vinnie Jones; both a shitpot and really quite wank.

Interesting that a few have said Jones. Whatever you think about him. and his love affair with Leeds, I don't think we'd have stayed up without him the that first season. His long throws alone created crucial goals such as Bradas v Man U.

Neil Collins and Michael Doyle.

I could add a few more but for me these two just epitomised the demise and mediocrity of the club into league one.

We signed both in the same January transfer window in 2011, a few months before we were relegated. I remember seeing them for the first time and my heart just sinking - thinking we would be heading down if this what we had brought in.

To rub salt in the wound they both subsequently stayed on as first team regulars for years. A horrible reminder of what they had done. And it felt like we would never get any better until they had gone.

Hill, Collins and Doyle all in the same team. It’s the stuff of nightmares. Oh god how far we have come in the last 15 months!

That mid 80s side of pensioners was a joke, but Budgie was most definitely not one of the wage thieves. In a long line of poor goalkeepers since Hodgy-Tracey (exception for Tom Mac) , he stood out as being fully committed to the cause. He might have been nearly 40 but he made some great cat like saves.

Sorry, but he should be nowhere near this thread.

I remember his comments on Radio Sheffield after we had played Watford, totally racist and can't be repeated but still most amusing . Times have changed!

Think your all right, shouldn't have said Burridge. Peter Withe (keeping Edwards out of the side) and Phil Thompson did get on my tits though in that OAP team.

Andy 'only scores from penalties' Gray
Anthony 'I have teammates? Really?' Stokes

I was originally just going to nominate Barry Hales. He was awesome for Fulham before he came to us. Never tried or even broke sweat in his time here. Other posters have reminded me of how much I disliked:

Dean Hammond- took early retirement aided and abetted by Atkins
Nyron Nosworthy - Old Toblerone foot, wrongly named, it should have been Notworthy
Budgie -As keen as mustard to play but did not keep promises to help coach Junior Blades, just didn't turn up with kids waiting
Vinny Jones - never a footballer just a thug. Ashamed at the thought that at the time he was our most expensive player
John Hope -Firstly for displacing Hodgy (my hero), then for being a poor goalie, particularly against Arsenal
Steve Simmondson Dracula like fear of crosses and the worst penalty taker I have ever seen.

There's far too many to mention

I would suggest there is more that I haven't liked than what I have

john Ebrell. Not particularly a twat, but i had high expectations of him, played about 20 mins, went on't sick and was never seen again.
also a little fucker who cane on loan from man u, thought he was great and shot at every opportunity, even if he could tee someone up for a shoe in. Think he played about 3 games, got benched then fucked back off to man u and never really made a career - name anyone?

I 'nearly' played for a team in that league as I knew a bloke who captained the team. I can't remember what team it was now, I was living in Brighton at the time. Unfortunately he saw me play and it wasn't one of my better games. (It wasn't the top division either). OK, I'll be honest, I was shit.
I think Cullip was sent out by Brighton to get fit. I was starting out on my badges. I hadn't played a game for over 5 years. The game was played at Langley Sports, now Eastbourne Borough. He was in his twenties and I was well over 40. He was sooooo slow and rubbish on the ball. I just couldn't believe it when we signed him. There were 2 or 3 others from Brighton on that team. They were OK. I too was shit, but I was defo better than him.

Cofie? Notman?

Vinnie Jones. Fucking thick nasty cunt who thought he was hard. Remember him ending Gary Stevens career at Spurs. Getting booked after seconds at Man City. Attempting an overhead kick once at the Lane which ended up in The Cricketers back yard. Ex Leeds shithouse. By the way it's Vinny not Vinnie you dick head.
You put it a little more strongly than me, but he was one of the few players we've had that made me ashamed to be a Blade. There was nothing to like about him as a footballer or, it seemed, as a person. And it appears that the confusion over his name is not my fault, or yours. According to the Blades Who's Who, he called himself Vinny until 1989, and from then on (including his time at the Lane) he was Vinnie. His inability to spell his own name speaks volumes.

Ryan Flynn
the epitome of nesh.. talk about light weight, he'd have got knocked about in a kids playground

In recent times I think the lack of ability, inflated wages and parasitic nature of Dean Hammond made me dislike him. The fact he was guaranteed to start every week just made it worse. I didn't really take to Micheal Higdon really. Slow, ponderous and seemed bizarrely to get smaller when he jumped. He seemed to tip that off with a crap attitude and work ethic.
Going back, I hated Wally Downes. Still do. Not a hard man just a talentless liability. The fact he went on a big rant in later year about one of our players putting in dangerous tackle, was ironic to say the least.

Was it Peter Withe where he was our player and we loaned him to some Brum club and they came to play us at BDTBL and he scored two and they beat us while on loan.

Ashley Ward.

"Held the ball up, etc"

Whilst coming his hair and checking his tan.

Kick the ball in the net, you vainglorious plank.

pommpey

My mates always hated him, but I was there at the Hawthorns when he put on a masterclass of forward play as we ran out easy winners to go top of the table.

He did have quality, just not consistent enough.
