Stoke fans have been less than complimentary. Apparently he's injury prone, a poor finisher and on a fairly large wage for the Championship. I fear he'll just take up a space that could have been given to one of our promising youngsters.
Don't worry Hal, Brewster will free up a space after he gets injured 2 games in👍

Stoke fan here and I wouldn’t exactly call him massively injury prone, he did his Acl in the 20/21 season after a superb start to the season and a very good previous season.

It took him a while to fully recover from that as it does a lot of players but he eventually did and made 41 championship appearances in 22/23, he was in and out of the team last season but it wasn’t all down to injuries.

He’s also a fantastic finisher but he is not a striker, especially a lone striker. Our last 4 managers have all attempted to play him in that position but he can’t do it, his hold up and link up play isn’t good enough for it. If you play him as a winger, especially on the right he will do very well for you.

Absolutely.
Hampson, Marsh and Oné don't deserve to lose an opportunity to a squad filler like this fella.
Yes we need bodies and yes he's technically 'free' but the 3 I've mentioned might not get loan moves and would rely on cup games and sub appearances, why take that from them?

Marsh definitely needs a loan. I think we'll be hampering his progress if he's just here to be a squad filler. It might have been a different story if he'd not got injured while out on loan last year.

I dont know, he's "got it".

Maybe the Championship isn't the drop of in quality I remember, but I reckon Marsh could have the breakthrough season Brooks did when he won it late on for us at Leeds.

Personally I'd rather pass on signings like this guy and go with what we've got ! I've never been a fan of squad fillers I always think a signing should always be equivalent or better than we have !

I do rate Marsh, I think he's the better prospect out of both Osula and Jebbo. Due to lack of squad depth he'll probably get some game time, I just don't know if it might be a step too much for him. Time will tell.

Unfortunately none of the attackers are quite ready. We’ve just sold the one that was!

He’s a necessary signing

Think he would be a very smart signing. I'm all for this one. 24 years old too, so still a pup. Sprinkle a bit of Wilder magic to get him enthused and we might just have a potential gem on our hands. The lad has the pedigree.

Marsh is close but not ready. Hampson and One I feel are ready for pro football but not at this level. Loans would be great for all 3.

Marsh will be in and around the first team (been given a squad number). Oné will be back in the u21’s and I think thats right for now, it was only recently he moved from 18’s to 21’s. Hampson is more of a midfielder.

Do t tho l I've ever heard you be negative on a potential new signing Hal! We desperately need more forwards and I'd guess he'd play in the three behind Moore but could do a job up top maybe off the bench. We do need more forwards for sure!

I don’t mind this at all. We need competition for places all over the pitch and he’ll add some much needed pace into our forward line.

This is his heat map from the 22/23 season when he played most games...

Looks like an Archer/BBD type forward (two players we no longer have in the team and therefore a spot that needs filling) and is left footed so could help us in that area (or perhaps as a back up for Burrows if he plays there and Rak-Sakyi if we sign him)

Beans was very complimentary in one of the pre-season pods. He did a very detailed review of his underlying stats and was very keen for us to sign him.

Players leaving on a free sometimes do end acrimonously with the fans, Cov are saying similar or worse about O'hare but not many doubting him based off that opinion

I've just been on their forum and they seem really complimentary of him, some said he wasn't the same after his knee injury, but others also said they weren't creating chances and when he's in a team that create chances, he'll put them away. Nearly all of them wanted to keep him

Confused by squad filler, pathway blocker, type comments from some in here.

I've never watched him consistently, but from highlights over the years he's clearly very talented - potential Prem player.

Could easily be a McGoldrick type (not as experienced) in that if he avoids injury and feels loved and properly utilised, he could be a new fan favourite.

Peck and Seriki also have squad numbers, don't think sachdev, Sasnauskas and Boyes have squad numbers so surely they'll be in u21s or out on loan.

dont mind this signing maybe got a point to prove if we can get ray-sakyi as well weve got 2 very additions imo

Every player should be squad filler, but where United get it wrong is they usually have an entourage of 12-15 players that aren't good enough, or bothered enough.
Probably comes with being labelled a squad filler from the moment they arrive.

He's been in an underachiving side. On paper Stoke had a strong side a year ago but it didn't work out. A new challenge in a new side might just be what he needs. These type signings are impossible to predict. Didzy or Morrison or somewhere on between. At 24 it could easily be a good move.
