With Cannon we do not play in any way shape or form to his strengths.

What strengths are they then? Looking gormless? Ambling about? Easily getting knocked off the ball? Falling over? I remember in one of his first games for us at the Lane, someone whipped a cross in at the kop end, hard from the right across the 6 yard box, and all he had to do was get his head on it and it would have been a goal. He didn't, he neshed it and moved his head out of the way, as was clearly seen on the replay. The writing's always been on the wall I'm afraid.

For some reason, whenever united sign anyone for decent fees, certain fans seem to look for the biggest stick they can find to beat them with as if it's their fault the money was spent on them. Happened to varying degrees with Mcburnie, Brewster and Berge. Hell even Hamer has had some critics during his time here.

With Cannon we do not play in any way shape or form to his strengths. We are slow through the thirds, with play always going through the wide areas. Cannon would be much more potent with quick central play with balls over the top of the last defender. Our third goal against Mansfield the other day is a good example of the kind of play he would most likely do better in.

Why buy him in the first place then? madness to sign a striker that doesn’t fit with ‘how we play’, was a stupid signing IF we can sell him we must.

I think everyone should just get behind him ....there is a player in there but needs a goal...bet everyone will be singing his name if he scores Saturday??? He's been unlucky to be honest should have scored on Sunday but really good save ...if a player is wearing our shirt we should be backing him ...we have had worse players in our time as fans ....he needs the backing not is fault wilder played him on his own more than a pairing???

We’re behind him but realistic. He needs a goal but he can’t get a goal. How long do we wait for that mythical career starting goal? Another wasted season? He got a goal at Pigs. So there you go. Did that kick start his goal scoring career? No. Nope. Not at all. Still woefully not a footballer.

I'm sort of with you but I wish he'd put a challenge in. He runs towards a defender or goalie then does a little skip just before and avoids it. He dosen't scare defenders at all, needs to get stuck in a bit, let them know he's there.

I don't think we'd get £6m, but I'm in the same boat. I don't dislike the lad in any way, but I've watched him play a lot of games now, and never seen any attribute in him whatsoever.

If we could get any sort of decent fee (seven figures) and Wilder was given even half of it to reinvest, it seems highly likely we'd get a striker that contributes more than Cannon has. From that point of view it's a no-brainer.

Hopefully Campbell will find his form again, but if not we're stuck with Campbell, Cannon and Oné whenever Bamford is unavailable (which will be fairly regularly). Based on last season, that's a League One forward line, which is worrying. We have to do something in that department and Cannon seems the obvious one to make way for an upgrade.

We can’t be expecting the manager to build a team around someone that’s been largely underwhelming.

I just don't believe another manager has watched him play for us and thought, "yeah he's worth £6m" (£6m just as an example).

Strike force is threadbare if we're honest. No idea what version of Campbell to expect, Oné is raw, and Cannon see above. Basically if Bamford gets injured we are fucked. (The same Bamford I got pelters for suggesting we sign )

Watched some of Cannon's highlights when he was at Stoke,
It seemed he likes playing when he has space, and the ball is moved quickly around him.

Our build up tends to be slow and measured, so it doesn't suit his game. Maybe with the Gus replacement who's likely to be an out and out winger, ir could open and stretch our opponents and create more opportunities for Cannon.

He scored nearly 40% of them in 1 game. What are his strengths exactly? Play against the same team every week so he can score 4 goals every match?

I honestly believe he's better than we've seen but certainly not as good as the fee we allegedly paid (if those pointing to Leicester's accounts are correct).

I certainly wouldn't have an issue if we sold him to PNE for about 4 mill.
