always thought stoke might be in for him in january know hes.done nothing here but he did well at stoke first time round sometimes a player fits one club but not another similar to kiefer moore this one but i certainly wouldnt give him away 7m plus another 3m if stoke promoted or loan with a view to buy for 10m in may

Loan with a £10m obligation to purchase on promotion, exactly the deal we should have struck when Wilder stuck his lip out and stamped his feet about wanting Cannot last January.
I was going to say I agree profoundly with this deal, then I realised I just could have liked your comment, but I'd already opened the reply box so here we are.

Good luck with that one

The club will recognise the “hit” that it would need to take.

£2m (maybe £3m) or thereabouts will get it done.

Needs to be some performance/promotion bonuses included. He's only 22, something that often gets forgotten

Cannon looks to make runs, he's always timing them well but no one passes to him. I'm hoping Hamer and Cannon will become a good combination as Hamer is the only one with the balls/talent to play a decent throughball, although Peck has shown he's capable when he's not passing sideways.

It was good to hear the crowd singing Cannon's name when he was subbed though, hopefully he builds on the new found confidence. He really should be taking penalties though.

I've noticed it too. Hamer & O'Hare are both decent at threading those little passes in behind, so hopefully they start looking for it a little more.

It should have been abundantly clear when we signed Cannon that to get anything like the best out of him, we needed to pair him with someone.

Instead we've had up top on his own or coming off the flank.

No surprise that two of his best contributions last season were playing with Moore.

Despite some poor turnouts this season, he looked very good at Cov, scored on Sunday even though he missed a good chance, and contributed much more again last night.

Use him properly regularly and we'll see a far better player than what we have by and large.

It was the same with Ched, Blackwell played him as a lone striker and he struggled. Yes we dropped to League One, but paired with Creswell and he thrived. Ched had also had a successful loan to Norwich in the Championship before joining us and scored 10 goals in 20 appearances for them.

absolutely spot on we look far better with 2 up front i think the issue here is trying to get hamer and o'hare in the same team 4231 enabled us to do that but this 442 or 4312 formation suits the majority of our players so we have to stick with it

Its almost like you get the best out of players if you play to their strengths...
Who would have though it.

It has been clear as day that Cannon needs to play with a partner up front and needs the ball playing into him as early as possible in the box.

Its the same as when we had Robson playing Billy Sharp as a winger to accommodate Beattie and wondering why Billy wasnt looking great or scoring. After getting him back for his third spell, we actually played him as a fox in the box centre forward and lo and behold Billy started scoring goals for us.

Hopefully we have finally twigged that a front 2 is an absolute must for us. Qe arent in the PL any more so dont need to be overly cautious. If we go for the win and be positive in the Championship, chances are we will win most games as we have better players. But play to their strengths.

Really valid comparison to be fair there!!

His movement is very good and was last season. He plays on the shoulder without having outstanding pace, but that doesn't matter provided the ball is played when he wants it as he times his runs so well. It's frustrating watching him make these runs only for the bal to often not arrive. If it does (ala pigs miss) and he doesn't score that's on him. He isn't messing about, he's making the killer runs. The rest of his game is far more open to question, but he looks better in a two and even linked play quite well at times Vs Pompey when PB went long (it was mainly the other way around). His pressing is also improving. He's still a young lad so I don't see the value in panicking and giving him away. I can see why he gets goals. He makes the killer runs and he gets his shots off.

Wilder has said since he brought the lad in that he is here to contribute now but he is one for the future. Heard him say 'he will be a very good player for us' on a few occassions.

Granted, his lack of movement, pressing, and goals (or even efforts had) have meant that he has been questionned by many. Me included, but i have given him a pass for stopping making those off the shoulder runs as he never seemed to get the ball when he made them and he was often stuck up there on his lonesome which isnt his game. That was on the team and CW respectively.

He still has a long way to go, but hes looking better in a two, working harder, making runs again and if he starts scoring the confidence will come back. No way should we take a cut price deal as i could see him going elsewhere and scoring plenty and having a long successful career. Luckily, i think CW sees his potential and wont cut his losses and we are just starting to see green shoots. Just in time mind, as if he wasnt then maybe he would have been going out on loan. Sooner he scores again, the better..hes a young lad who feeds off confidence and is probably desperate to do well for us.

I think having experience like Bamford and Ings can only help the likes of Cannon and One.Ings to score soon and go on a run looks better every game he plays.
i think youve made a valid point there bob has to have helped cannon having ings and now bamford in the squad lots of experience between those 2 to help him i would just like peck who is playing a bit higher up the pitch now riendwald is in to pass the ball earlier and quicker our strikers are making runs in to the channels but peck often turns and plays the safe pass sideways
