So you think the CEO is so stupid and experienced he only draws up 1 list of 1st choice targets
and assumes we're going to be successful on every occasion.

Of course we have several options lined up as back up.....just wait and see.
The problem will be if and when we do bring in another striker.....then our fans will be angry thinking we've been desperate
but that's how it works....nothing in life runs smoothly all the time.
Of course not, but I also think if you're confident in landing the #1 target (which Cannon seemingly was, hence the only link for weeks) then you're prepared to wait and potentially see options 2 and 3 move on in the meantime, and if it doesn't come off then you face the consequences as like you say, nothing in life runs smoothly all the time.

Well not up to now no ,we are a bit thin but we have brought in about 10 players which is some feat but we are still well short . Have to wait and see if we are able to bring in another couple . My concern is who might leave ,we have lost two but not the most important ones that have attracted most attention , well not up till now anyway .
No feat at all we lost about double that got rid of the vast majority of the big earners.

Sick and tired of hearing people making excuses for the club when they have had longer than anyone else.

just no money to do anything about it . You cast your mind back if it was not for getting promoted last time out what position do you think the club would be in now ? The players we have brought in with the little cash we have had is a bloody miracle . The team looks stronger now than it did before the mass walkout but the squad does look weaker . The team would more than compete in this league but with injuries it would struggle with having little backup . No excuses mate just reality ,it's the way it is . The clear out was overdue ,we still had players who were playing in the first division with us all that time ago and were well past their sell by date . We went two or three windows without adding to the squad and when we did we bought crap and that was the position we found our selves in . Yes it was the clubs fault but we could not afford to change things or replace the few quality players that went . Plus the takeover has complicated things to which did not help with recruitment .

TBH not that bothered, doesn’t seem to be a big loss listening to anecdotal stuff.

Best not to chuck money at what’s available if what’s available isn’t what we want.

Does anyone actually know enough about him/care enough about this for us to be excited about him?
I had never heard of him until we were ‘linked’. I guess quite a lot won’t have either. It won’t stop the tantrums and hysteria when he goes elsewhere tho.
Looking at his goals scoring record it looks ok. Around one in three.
Given the jebbo and osula meltdowns with much worse averages, I am thinking Samaritans may be busy tonight.

Because our managers have worked miracles on shoe strings in reality compared to all the other managers of promoted clubs.

Negative Moody 1889, predicting doom and gloom, has ended up being correct with his prediction that no players would come in today.
Good job you never took me up on the bet, otherwise I would be £20 down now.

At least you can bask in moral glory of being right.
Still makes no sense though...will be interesting to hear what the excuse is.
Our starting 11 is still strong but this reminds me of when Hecky started the PL regards not being prepared.
Like with Hecky, it's as though Wilder is only being half supported, so he's being set up to fail.

If we pick up some injuries then we'll be literally starting with Academy players....talk about throwing young players into the deep end.
You never know tho....Greavesie used to say "football is a funny auld game"....who knows Brewster might have a final season like Ched Evans final season when he was on fire scoring for fun. Some of our Academy players like Peck might step up and be impressive at this level.

There were lots of teams after Cannon.

Apparently Leicester wanted to sell him, but didn't in the end.

Cannon was at Everton and moved to Leicester, so if he's got family in Liverpool then living near Stoke would make sense, and perhaps that's why he's chosen to go there as he can get back to Liverpool easily.

Apparently Moore chose us for geographical/family reasons, so it does have a bearing.

You can't win them all though.

Not many choosing to go to Hull are there 🤣🤣

Made his debut for stoke today - got no service, did fuck all and fans already indifferent to him

It gets even worse.....the Stoke manager (fellow scouser) Schumacher, who chased him, having big plans for him
has now been sacked after Cannons 1st debut.

One of the reasons Cannon joined Stoke was because he likes Schumacher and has been virtually guaranteed game time. This sacking could put a spanner in the works....with Cannon not being tactically used how he wants and he may not see as much game time with a new manager.

6 managers in 6 years, doing a QPR!

If anyone wants a laugh…..go in the Stoke City forum. Cannon is getting some right stick, he’s played 3 matches and hardly touched the ball.

Their fans are saying Cannons body language is all wrong, he’s playing like he doesn’t want to be there and he also looks unfit offering nothing.

They are convinced their club is a grave yard for strikers. Just checked and over the last 21 years the most any player has scored in a single season is Ricardo Fuller with 15 goals, in recent seasons their top scorer generally ends up with 10 goals.

I was gutted that we didn’t get Cannon because we need strikers but maybe we had a stroke of luck when he decided to go to Stoke instead.

I’ve kept an eye out for him since deadline day and it’s not looking great atm. Although Stoke in general are shite so you can’t blame one man.

I started the feel quite apprehensive about the deal when £7m started flying around and we were apparently still interested.

Just felt wrong to sell Osula for £10m then start thinking about throwing £7m of it at Cannon when I’d have rather kept Osula as a different option. I get it, we needed to sell Osula to balance the books so balance the books and I’m glad we didn’t throw £7m at him in desperation.

He could still quite easily go on and have a good season though but I reckon we’ll pick up and other loan striker in Jan and be fine

Watched that stoke match last night, Cannons shite!

I would be interested to see how he would do in our team though rather than in Stokes team. Not saying he'd be good but I don't believe he's a shit player.

Might be jumping the gun a bit writing him off. Stoke aren't exactly the best team in the division.
