Nixon saying Cannon personally wants a loan. He wants to come to us as l, we basically can blow anyone else out the water for loan wages and fees due to PP.

Easy to forget about Campbell.

If we do get a forward then we have currently Gus or O’Hare plus Brooks in the current XI who are playing wide (I’d rather push O’Hare there than Gus), then we have JRS and also Campbell as options.

If we do get another forward, we will have him, Moore, Brewster and Campbell for essentially one role. Granted you could shift to 2 up top during a game and replace O’Hare as a 10 with one of them.

So maybe we get away with just Cannon?

The get Mepham and if Anel gets picked up late you still have Souttar, Mepham, Robbo, Gilchrist, possibly Souza and Shackleton and Seriki as right backs if Gilchrist has to move over.

Then it just depends if someone comes for Souza.

Simply would not sell Hamer at all today.

Loan with an option would be ideal. Don’t they want £10m?

My Stokie mates were clear, don't expect to get the best out of Campbell, playing him centrally. Great if it comes off, but don't bank in it. Still need a striker, IMO.

Loan = doesn't need to take a drop in wages. Probably get a similar wage if we get promoted with him and he ends up signing on a perm.

Between us and Stoke according to Nixon so assume it's a loan

Didn't T-Blade or one of the ITKers say that we were his first choice? Hope so.

Either way we need to get something sorted today.

I'm still not sold on him - would love to be wrong but can guarantee there will have been better options out there

Let's see what transpires today, but we might be at the stage now where we can't be that picky, and if he really wants to come then that is a big tick for me.

Maupay went for 4-6 (obligation after a loan), while Leicester want 7-10 for Cannon
Hell, Ings is being touted to champ clubs as a loan option - why spend 7mil (or potentially more if it's a loan to buy) on a back up striker?

A deal like this can only really be judged retrospectively

Get him in perm for 7-10m permanently is only good if he hits the ground running and fires us up the league. If he’s a Brewster we’ve another waste of money to deal with that drains cash for the next 3/4 years.

Similarly - if he get him on loan and he’s great - we price ourselves out of being able to afford to keep him. (Like BBD). But if he’s shit we wave goodbye at the end of the season glad we’re not fully committed to him.

Unless we go up, obviously.

There probably is in European leagues but wilder dunt like foreigners !! I hope the new owners are sorting out our scouting network

He’ll end up at Stoke or Hull

You're always negative though and most of the time you're wrong
When will the penny drop? Based on FFP restrictions we have more money than Stoke or Hull, we're also a bigger club than those 2 with more chance of promotion. So it's no surprise that Cannon would prefer to play for us.

If he's based around Liverpool and plays at Leicester, you'd imagine that Stoke is geographically the best and Hull the worse....might make a difference.

Agree....but players from the Euro leagues are always a big risk.....for every foreign success there's usually 4 foreign failures.

FFS. This is going really well isn't it. 😂

This is what happens when you’re open to selling any players for the right price and other clubs get to know about it.

You leave yourself open to last minute bids and no time to replace them.

We would have been better off saying ‘no one leaving’ no one coming in’

As it stands we’ve put ourselves between a rock and a hard place
