The more I think about this one, the more I hope we go for it.

He's a bit of a niggly fucker, occupies defenders, presses well, can finish with both feet, he's mobile.

I don't think his link-up is all that, but if we're insisting on playing with 3 players (LW, RW, 10) off the CF, maybe we just need him to be in the box finishing chances and creating space for others.

The price would have to be sensible though given the injury record.
£10m asking is a bit steep.
£7m wouldn't be bad for a young forward with pedigree at this level.
He's on course for scoring 20 goals in what has been a poor Stoke team.

Hard to know what our budget is, or the ambitions of our new owners but if we had a forward line containing BBD and Cannon with Hamer playing further back, all the sudden I can see a lot more potency and fluidity to our play.

Would be a good signing IMO and most likely have to be a perm signing?

4-3-3 would be interesting

BBD - Campbell - Cannon

Hamer - Souza - New signing

Burrows - New Signing - Anel - K Walker 😂

Coops

Cannon has 9 goals from 53 shots (17% conversion)

Moore has 5 goals from 44 shots (11% conversion)... bear in mind 2 of those shots were unchallenged from 12yards too 🙄

One thing i've noticed about Moore is his reluctance to get his shot off when he's in a decent position. People say Cannon likes to get his shot off early.
I don't claim to watch Stoke and have only seen them once this season (at the Lane), but I would guess Moore has had more chances to score this season than Cannon has at a very shit Stoke.

Other conversion rates...
  • Borja Sainz (leading scorer) - 15 goals from 75 shots (20% conversion)
  • Windass 10 goals from 56 shots (18% conversion)
  • Campbell 6 goals from 19 shots (32% conversion - the highest in the league for players with 5 or more goals)
  • Hamer 5 goals from 60 shots (8% conversion)
In terms of shot accuracy (%age of shots on target). Here are the leagues leaders (players with 5 goals or more)...
  • Campbell (63%)
  • Cannon (55%)
  • Conway (54%)
  • Harris (54%)
  • Adebayo (49%)

Cannon RW?

if we sign cannon i would pair him with campbell and play 2 out and out strikers moore can be used from the bench if were in trouble think those 2 would score plenty at this level especially with hamer as attacking midfielder in behind em

I agree but any fee for him won't be £7M up front.
I would guess a loan to buy if we go up (paying £5M then), or a fee of £3-4M ish now with add ons.

They wanted £10m in the Summer.

They're not going to sell a young prospect that's scoring goals at this level for £3-4m.

We’re not spending £7m on anyone🤣

How do you know? This is the first transfer window under the new owners, we really haven’t got a clue what they are planning.

If the Prince was still owner, I 100% agree, we ain’t spending nowhere near £7m. But the new owners haven’t been at the club long enough for anyone to predict what they might do.

Having said all that, I still think £7m is doubtful 🤣

£3-4M PLUS ADD ONS.

No-one offered £10M or close to it.
They might want £7M now. Doesn't mean they get it. But the deal might be structures to reach that, or even more.

I trust Wilder to make the right decision, I don't value him at £7M, no idea what Utd value him at. But if they do want to pay that, I am good with it.

We'll find out in the next week or 2 how much money we intend to invest this window.

Given they're looking likely relegation fodder, they'd be wiser hanging onto him for their own potential Championship campaign next season. Surely Vardy retires after this season, and they have a ready made replacement in-house if they're in the second tier.

I think they're up against it on FFP and could do with the funds to manoeuvre in January.

Southampton in a similar position which could help us with BBD.

Bit worrying how many of the yo-yo clubs are ending up in bother with FFP, given that we are in that bracket ourselves these days.

I don’t think we have to worry about that- I think our recruitment was very restrained over the summer (hence the small squad) and what big wages we did pay out are off-set by the amount of big earners that left at the end of their contracts.

Can’t see is signing anyone on a permanent transfer this window just be loans.

Personally don’t think we’ll spend anything this window apart from loan fees.

Neither Leicester nor Soton were really yo-yo clubs though. Both had long spells in the Premier League and had PL wage bills when they got relegated--hence their FFP issues.

A loan with an option would be good, but I don't think that gets around FFP.

Can we not buy him with a clause they have to buy him back if we don't get promoted?

Point is?

No I’m not bothered about going up, why would anyone after last season?
No I wouldn’t want McBurnie back, my opinion, I’m glad we’ve not signed Barnes, my opinion.

Personally don’t think we’ll spend any money this window, my opinion.

Brewster prob has earnt about £9m in wages, fact

We have lost to Leeds, Boro and Burnley, and Sunderland🤷‍♂️

We’ve not played well for a while, anyone who thinks otherwise have been watching something different.

I’m sure wilder pass comment today they’d be “perms”, I reckon we’re going for a bunch of signings all around the same time, worse move would be to spend £7 million on a player first thing and then watch everyone else adding zeros on to figures because they think we’re flush.

I also think the Norwich game is wilder giving his recruitment team a clear deadline, putting it out there so many times it feels like a message to them all.

I could probably guarantee you that Brewster doesn’t earn £57,000 a week.
