Tickets For Villa

Perhaps they could pay for free travel from their inflated wages then ?

Good idea! The tickets for Stevenage and Walsall would be more than it's costing me for ticket and travel at Villa.

I'm sure they also appreciate the fact that many of us can't afford three away trips around Christmas and New Year so will choose the cheapest option, especially when that is at one of the best grounds in the country (in my opinion) over the likes of Stevenage, which is a terrible away day at the best of times, and Walsall with all due respect to them. Also taking into consideration the long, expensive trips to Bristol City, Leyton Orient and Cambridge in the last month too, they're lucky to get this amount support in the position we're in.

the tickets for the two league games were on sale before we knew we had in the Cup so surely fans would have spent the money going to one of these two games(the cheap option being Walsall !) and not have the money for whoever we drew in the FA Cup ?

We took less than 1,000 to Bristol and Cambridge and just over 1,000 to Orient (which in our position is excellent support) put it certainly isn't the case that the other 4,000 or so that are going to Villa are skint because of these trips.

I am sure Villa will be a good day out mind.

It's hardly a shock that more people would want to go to a top ground and watch players of the calibre of Aston Villa rather than 3rd division rubbish? I know I've had a belly full of that over the last 2 years!

There's no way 4k Blades will go to this one. We'll be lucky to sell out the top tier.

And like Grecian2000 says who can blame fans for wanting to travel to a top stadium to see quality oppositon. I personally will not travelling to Stevenage, partly for financial reasons but also because I cannot bare another trip to that shithole.

I'm taking my two lads to Stevenage tomorrow. It's cost me £46 for tickets, 4 days before crimbo, throw in petrol, a pint, something to eat and its soon stacking up towards £100.

In the interests of budgetary prudence, I'm swapping IT Management for delivery driving tomorrow and doing a delivery run to Stevenage and back for work, in order to not have to shell out for the petrol for the journey.

It's certainly an expensive addiction.

That's true, but how often do you need to buy tickets more than two weeks before the game? I think plenty will have done the same as me, on the way down to Cambridge I said providing we got through, I'd see what the draw was before deciding on whether to go to either Stevenage, Walsall or the cup game.

Not everyone will have done that , as I know plenty will be going for the day trip but I would say a fair few of the so-called 'regulars' will be in the same boat as me.

It appears that Villa have given us the North Stand Upper and then part of the Doug Ellis upper and lower.

I had a look on Villa's website and it seems their fans will be in the North lower tier.

From what peeza was saying it seems we've sold out the Upper Tier of the North Stand already. Anyone know how many it holds?

There's nothing on the OS about them selling out, but when I tried to order some online the match is not showing up. Surely they'll give us some more?

Any news how many we've sold? I see north stand, upper tier as comeback online.

Sold out the initial allocation of 4,800 last week but a further allocation (don't know what) should have gone on sale today.

Blades will have the whole of the upper tier behind the goal and the upper and lower sections of the end third of the adjoining side stand.

Only selling top tier now lads, bottom tier was available this morning. Just got my ticket now. Guessing around 6K sold. UTB

was part of the initial 4800 allocation so probably sold around 4000

Does anybody have any official figures of what's been sold? Looking forward to this one !!

Just been online and you can still buy North Upper AND Doug Ellis Lower which contradicts what the OS says that the latter is only available after the former has sold out

Do you think we will be able to sit where we like in the North stand? If it is full I doubt this will be possible?

I have hurt my foot and don't want to have to walk up lots of steps.

I am getting old you know.

if sold out yo

if sold out you will have to sit in your allocated seat I'm afraid like you would at most grounds

Love it when we take big away followings. It's going to be an amazing away day; one of those days where the result isn't actually that important but would be the cherry on top of the cake. Now, if we were "Massive" then we'd suggest that taking 4/5/6ooo fans to Villa would mean we automatically deserved to win the game, the Cup and be given Lionel Messi for free by Barcelona because they're tin pot.

8/1 still seems short to me. I would not expect us to win once in 9 games, considering Villa are miles better than us and our record there. I just don't think we have a chance. I realise Villa have been poor lately and their home for is not great, but they will have more than enough quality to beat us. I remember thinking we had a chance at Reading last season and we got battered. Villa's team is better than Reading's was last season and we have a worse team than this time last year.

I'd love to think that our unbeaten run will continue and that the 5k fans will buoy us on, but just cannot see it. Villa's strikers will have a field day with our slow defence. Just because the odds are long does not mean they are good value.

Bradford City beat them over two legs in last years League Cup Semi - but saying that they beat us earlier in the season - perhaps we are a tad better now Mr Clough is here but having watched them over Christmas it depends which team turns up - 1st Half v Oldham and we will get mullered !!

Benteke and agbonlahor against Collins and Maguire... Lets just enjoy the day out!

I would bare my arse on the town hall steps if we won this one. Not a chance. Let's just enjoy a good sing-a-long.

Sadly I agree. It's 11 v 11 and anything can happen but be very shocked if we are even that close in this game.

As others have said, their pace (whoever is fit) against our team of snails will destroy us in key areas.

People may think Villa are struggling but the gap between us and other teams even Champ is huge now.

The results v Birmingham, Reading in the last few seasons in the cup shows that we will have to be 100% and really at it to just to avoid a spanking.

Still should be a good day out? Where are people drinking pre/post games? Any tips for a good Balti after the game?

There'll be 4 or 5 of us drinking here before the Villa game.
