This. Hence we can’t sell yet unless we agreed the same price with all potential 6th place teams. We’re very unlikely to try to have that conversation yet

Sunderland are already selling to their ST holders, so the first part isn't true. But I buy in to us not having got around to having the conversation yet!

Unless they have already spoken to them which, if true, would mean Sunderland's pricing is a good indication of what our pricing will be

thinking black guy.webp

I’d assume they won’t go on sale to anyone until we know who we’re playing after this weekend.

Because the opposition and also central organisers have a percentage of the receipts. For example play off semi finals, after staging costs, 50% goes into a central pool and then the 50% is divided between the 4 semi finalists.
I thought the three losing teams in the play offs share the receipts from the play offs and the play off winner dont get any of the receipts because they will get over £100M a season for being a PL team?

That's not written in the rules. It is upto the winning club and I think it's just the final receipts they been given to the losing finalist - not sure on that bit but they have done so for the last few years. The regulation states it the semi-final receipts are 50% central and 50% shared between the 4 clubs.

Sunderland don't know who they are playing, but that hasn't stopped them selling tickets

I hope we don’t give the upper tier to the away fans again, that Forest match was awful experience in more ways than one. We managed to get alternative tickets in the south stand, only to be barracked by some fat wanker two rows back, for having the temerity of taking their seats “they’d had for 25 years.” in a first come first served basis.

The amount is based on the agreed gate prices so the club would need to increase the season ticket price based on perhaps playing 5 extra games at full price even if they did not play them. So just for easy figures if you paid £20 per game for season tickets, but non season tickets paid £30, the club would have to pay £30 into the two pools. If the other semi final was say Luton v Oxford where attendance at each would be barely 10,000 it would cost the club alot.
But you dont pay for the playoff tickets until your in the play offs - it becomes an option when renewing you ST just like cup games could pay as they happen with a credit or debit card linked and Sunderland have started selling before they know who they are playing, so it can be done

Which begs the question why havent we spoken to our potential opponents ?
There are 5 clubs we could be playing - if we haven`t reached an agreement on pricing with all of them, we can`t sell the tickets.

Its entirely possible for the same 5 clubs to have reached an agreement on pricing with Sunderland - hence why they can sell tickets

That was not the original statement. It was suggested to include cup and play off matches as part of the season ticket costs. I was explaining why that is difficult

I take it you didn't read Cappy's post up a few

Firewall at work blocks X content - so didn't see the explanation.

Encouraging that we might be looking at trying to do 20 quid tickets

Also you look at the adult prices at BDTBL for the tickets from the teams that we could in theory play, results dependent, if you were going off the league ticket prices all apart from Middlesbrough are £33 for adults (not included any of the concessions) however Middlesbrough is £38 which is our away "league price". In theory you could open the tickets at a "league price" of £33 across the board as imagine most wouldn't have a problem at filling the capacity. For the home fans if the statement about cheaper tickets is right, which is great. I guess you have to see who we get. Middlesbrough/Blackburn/Coventry are pretty easy to get to regardless of kick off time and we will sell out whilst Bristol City/Millwall will be very much kick off dependent and price point dependent.

Middlesbrough : £38 adults
Blackburn £33 adults
Millwall - £33 adults
Coventry - £33 adults
Bristol City - £33 adults

Both the semi finals will kick off at 8pm as they're both midweek games. 1st leg is next Thursday and the 2nd leg the following Monday.

I'm still not sure why Florist got the upper tier. I recall at the time someone saying the ticket office staff had told them they had to give 10% of the ground capacity as an away allocation which was in excess of the maximum BLL tier of around 2.800. That 10% ruling specifically applied to the FA Cup not the play offs and the allocation could be reduced on the grounds of safety. Something the bar codes used as an excuse on numerous occasions.

The EFL play off rules are very clear;

3.3 The visiting Club shall have the right to claim 2,000 tickets for use by its supporters (or such number as represents 10% of all tickets reserved or otherwise sold in advance, if less than 2,000

Meaning away fans are only guaranteed 2,000 so any suggestion the BLUT is off limits for Home supporters should be challenged.

Sunderland AFC’s Sky Bet Championship Play-Off semi-final dates have been confirmed.

The first leg will be played away from home on Friday 9 May, with the second leg taking place at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday 13 May.

Both fixtures will kick off at 8pm.

Although the Club’s opponents are to be determined, 2024-25 season ticket holders can now secure their seats for an exclusive loyalty price.

This offer will be available until 5pm on Tuesday 6 May, after which point loyalty pricing will expire and general sale pricing will be introduced, and all seats will be released.

Ticket details for the first leg will be communicated in due course.

The Forest ticketing decision was truly bizarre, surely the club has learnt its lesson and won't repeat it.

I would say that's an excellent way to reward your loyal season ticket holders . General sale price doesn't need to be extortionate either.
