In turn you are ignoring the several facts that have already been put out by the club.
Firstly that large investment wasn't going to be at league one level but Championship/Premiership.
Secondly that Kennedy and others weren't included in the 18 as they were considered still as part of the development squad.
Before the Prince you think we would have had Baxter, Coady and Brayford last season?

But how do you expect us to get to the Championship/Premiership without investing? All well and good saying we will invest when we're there, but that's running before we can jump.

If we are 'going for it' this year, we still need investment. I would be fine waiting in anticipation except we now have 18 senior pros (excluding Kennedy et al) and Clough wants a small squadso we can't expect many more. Maybe then the issue is not that we don't hae money available, but the club failing to realise we need to invest now to even get to the championship. Our investment level in the closed season has come nowhere near to that of the 3 promoted teams last season.

Just because NC says he wants a small squad, it doesn't mean he'll not sign anyone should the right players become available. Plenty of time for a "marquee" signing or two. UTB

Let me ask Goughie and see what he thinks

"Well T'Adrian hat his hoint I haven't a hlue hicause hits hoo hearly hinto t'transfer hindow."

That covers it then for me. You are totally unrealistic in your expectations and therefore there's no point continuing this discussion.
I don't know what players you think would be deranged enough to agree in June to drop into league one, when they are clearly better than that.

Ah ok apart from the fact that they've said 3-4 more of the more difficult targets are still on our radar.

The 2nd half of last season we were in automatic promotion form in a stronger league. Therefore why do we need this mass overhaul of the squad which you keep on about? Are you still maintaining our squad is much weaker than Rotherhams last season?

Out current squad is worse than Rotherhams was last season 100%. This would no be the case if we added Brayford and Coady. We have not come close to replacing these 2 players. But let's end the discussion as you say, seems to be going I circles!

Out current squad is worse than Rotherhams was last season 100%.

How the fuck do you quantify a statement like that other than its in your opinion. We beat Rotherham with our kids out last season so how can our current squad be worse than what they had last season?

Sorry but I don't see your point, I don't see your argument and frankly you haven't made a single coherent argument to back up your wildly inaccurate waffle.

The point most people are making is we are miles away from the start of the season and if you worry yourself any more you might not make it to the first game. Calm yourself down, go lie in a darkened room and come back when your temperature is back below 110.

Dear Head of Radio Station,

I would like to apply for the position of presenter on the 'Drive' programme to replace Adrian Durham (The Master) should he be abducted by aliens or even better gets lost in the Rain Forests of Brazil during his jollees (sorry assignment) at the World Cup Tournament.
I can spout bilge just as good as The Master as well as creating an argument with myself in a phone box !
I know The Master knows much more about football than any other person on the planet but I believe that I am an ideal replacement (and I would keep Goughie as my lapdog) as he has now become an 'expert' having worked with The Master for the past (seems like eternity) year or so !
I support a third division club (just like The Master) who currently have no money, no ambition and looked doomed for another unsuccessful season as we have only signed five players with the transfer window only two weeks away from opening) and despite finishing last season with a fantastic cup run and promotion winning form for the last three months our squad is very poor especially when compared with the mighty Rotherham United - Giants of South Yorkshire football !
I can attend an interview any time and tell you how to run a proper radio station
Thanking you in anticipation of a big contract
Yours
Blader

Blader, this argument that you appear to be having with yourself in a phone box - is it going to go on much longer?

I find the positivity of most people in this thread who are looking forward to the new season refreshing. I look forward to it entering default disaster mode.

Let me ask Goughie and see what he thinks

"Well T'Adrian hat his hoint I haven't a hlue hicause hits hoo hearly hinto t'transfer hindow."
Tradepoint, tradepoint. One stop get the lot Tradepoint.

Ask your self what kind of player from the higher leagues is willing to drop to the third division, then ask your self what sort of contract it would take to persuade him to make that drop ?
His club is going to want to recuperate what he cost them unless they are desperate to get him off their wage bill. usually because he's costing them far more than he's worth for the division he's in.
But in order to get him to drop to our level he'll be asking a similar wage structure plus a 3 year contract. So after we get promotion we are stuck with this guys wage bill for a further 2yrs in an higher division whether he made any contribution to the promotion or not and probably having the same problem the club we brought him from had..
The obvious solution is loan players, if we get promotion we can then consider a permanent deal if their the kind of player we need for the championship, if they aren't then it's by by.
At this stage we need a strong base of players and a couple of good loan players who are trying to impress their mother team not players their mother team wants to bail out because their not good enough...

This thread is akin to a Bladesmad thread ffs.

We have signed 5 players plus Porter, and some damn good players who could play at an higher level plus our manager has publicly stated that he wants at least 1 other striker, a right back and one other midfielder, why oh why are you lot moaning?

Clough has an excellent record of picking up unknown lower league players (The beard), as an example, so why don't you just trust him?

If i look at our overall squad now compared to the Coventry game we are far better, we are down by Coady and Brayford and added some of the best league one players around, many who could easily play in the championship, so give the squad time to assemble fully then make comments.

Now, before I set out, I need to explain I have never been one for believing in this 'think Liverpool' talk had much credit, and I also don't believe the Saudi bloke is a con-man or whatever either. However, I am questioning what difference his involvement has actually made. It appears to me that the signings we have made are signings we would be capable of making 'pre-prince' anyway so where's the difference? I will ofcourse reserve judgement until the end of summer, but knowing Clough wants to work with a small squad, we really only have space for 2/3 more signings tops. So, unless these are of real genuine quality, I would think we will start the season with a weaker squad than we ended 2013/14. Never been bothered about my club getting a 'sugar daddy' or firing our way through the leagues, but being lied to by the club is a different thing I won't accept. Just hope there's slightly more inspiration to come from our signings....
You ask what difference the prince has made, and this is one of the easiest questions ive had to answer. We would no doubt about it be in league 2 if it wasn't for the prince.

Yes after the prince arrived it all went downhill didn't it , instead of winning our place in division two and being a total embarrassment it all went pear shaped, HAVE SOME PEOPLE BEEN HOLIDAYING ON THE MOON ?

Another spanking thread this one. Shame I've been away and had to take it all in one go.

As for an answer to the OP.
We've been doing business that the manager seems happy with since the moment last season ended. No waiting to see how much money we can raise from our summer firesale before we can delve into the bargain bin at Woolies to fill out the squad. Is that not proof enough that things have changed?
To be honest I've quite missed the "let's see who we bring in before we moan" posts that used to litter our summers of inaction. We're acting now and although I don't know much about the players we've signed, rest assured, if Cloughy thinks they'll do for us then that'll do for me.

Can't wait for next season (pointless fucking friendlies to have a wank over aside) already.

All we need is enough quality the get promotion and then I think McCabe and the price will start really investing to be a competitive championship team
