This is why we won't get promoted

So you think a side will get promoted losing say 15 in a season? If we did we'd be a laughing stock in the PL. OP correct we cannot consistently beat the better teams. Unlike those great sides in the past. Who (if alive then) can forget Blades 5 Cardiff 1. Now that was a thumping of a promotion rival.

To think we always seemed to do well at Forest. Must be CW's bogey ground.

Don't know whether or not we will get promoted at all, let alone if we lose 15 games. However it is certainly well within the bounds of possibility to get promoted with that number of defeats. Huddersfield did it.

2016-17 Huddersfield lost 15 games and got promoted and they did it without actually winning any of their play off games. This season they don't look too good, but last season they were far from a laughing stock in the premier league.

Also, to have a shot at promotion you don't necessarily have to beat the top sides. Last season Middlesbrough finished 5th with 14 defeats and they took a grand total of 5 points from sides that finished in the top 6.

Believe fellow blades. There has been a paradigm shift at the lane since Chris Wilder breezed in. What he gets wrong first time he puts right. Every team in the league wants him as their manager. We are headed for the sunlit uplands, only we can stop ourselves. And we’re not going to, are we?

Forest are 9th highest scorers out of 24, scoring 2 more than Wednesday. Grabban is 9 in 15, the next highest scorer there is Lolley on 4. They've basically scored 1/4 of their season's tally in 2 games, against Stoke & Bolton. If you were at/watched the game yesterday, you'd agree with the op. Forest are an extremely mediocre and limited side; whether that's the players or the manager or a mixture of both. Wigan were more of an attacking threat last week. A team with any ambition of promotion would've found a way to get something from the game yesterday. Like they did to us, like Bristol did to us, and like Stoke did to us. Their keeper is crap & wasn't put under any concerted pressure, because that's not our style. :)

Agreed. Forest - like us with Sharp - are frighteningly reliant on Grabban and Karanka is as tedious a manager as Pulis. But...they have the money to mount a serious JTW.
I got slaughtered a few weeks ago for pointing out the fact we are totally incapable of beating good teams away from home.

We couldnt do it in 2016-17, we couldn't do it in 2017-18 and we're struggling again this season.

So far we've been beaten quite convincingly by Middlesbrough, Derby and Nottingham Forest.

We never led in any of those matches and we scored a grand total of one goal.

It's starting to get very concerning because our most likely method of promotion this season will be through the play offs where we'll have to get a decent result away at a top six side.

Yes, it is a worry - even more so when you realise we've yet to visit most of the top sides. So far our record away to these top teams is worse than last season, when we won at places like Leeds and Norwich and got creditable draws at Derby and Villa.

No, but McCabe might. ;)

Championship is tight and single goals will decide a lot of games. You need some luck in this case and Leeds got theirs with handball and we didn't with defected goal. Overall it is performances over a season that will count and while results havent always gone our way performances have been consistently good or outstanding including stoke, Derby, second half boro. No way forest deserved all. 3 points. I will take the consistently good performances and unlucky results over poor performances and lucky results. Duffy fit, Brooks replacement Jan - we can do this.

I stated in the summer that we needed a top end striker, a goalkeeper, and an attacking midfielder to rotate with Duffy to stand a chance of automatic promotion. We got neither. I've seen nothing that has changed my mind so far this season. A few games ago I was being told that Duffy can and should play every game, and he doesn't need resting or rotating. Hows that one working out? The frustration is that we are tantalisingly close.Next year Sharp, Clarke, Mcgoldrick and Clarke are another year older meaning more of the constituent parts will have to be changed.

Are you saying that this season is our best chance of promotion ever? And next season will be much harder?

No. I've never stated that it's our best chance ever. Next year, - under the current ownership - is likely to be harder due to having to replace the ageing parts of the team. We can't expect these players to continue being this productive. We may also have some of our top players picked off due to us seemingly requiring one or more big sales each season to keep the lights on. I still haven't written us off for a successful play off push this season, or even automatic promotion providing we do the right business in January.

This time I'm going with:

1) Norwood is shit sometimes
2) Our strikers sometimes miss chances
