Now I'm no pessimist, but Tuesday really is a must win game.

Fail to win and we might, theoretically, be second when we start the Coventry game as Bolton play on the Tuesday night.

Win, and all the pressure is on them again. Of course we may end up still only a point ahead at that point but let's put the pressure on them to keep winning by getting 3 on Tuesday...

A team that averages over 2 points per game has to be eclipsed by half a point per game. Statistically it's not that likely.

We have 4 home games and just 3 away. The still have 4 away matches.

The average position of our opponents is 14. The average of theirs is 15. So comparable.

If they win all their home games, then draw 2 and win 2 away, that has to be their best case scenario really then it gets them 17 more points and 92 overall.

Leaves United needed 13 to equal, 14 to better. 9 of those are available against 3 of the bottom 4. We therefore would need 2 wins out of Bradford, Millwall, Northampton and MK Dons. Not insurmountable at all.

In 4 games time it will be over in my opinion. I think will two and lose two. United will continue at 2 points per game and that will leave the gap 6 with just 3 games left.

I'm not giving it the big 'un by any means and don't like counting chickens but that's how I think it will go. United are relentless and Bolton simple cannot afford a defeat. They lose we win the next one for example and it's more than a point per game. Opposite, we still lead by a point and we're simply the more consistent team.

I will leave you with this nugget. Wilder's teams don't fuck up. Northampton were fucking relentless at the end of last season and we will repeat that. Hope this makes you feel a bit better.

I get this, I definitely do. I want first as much as anyone, I just disagree that it'll be such a huge disappointment to finish second.

If we'd have been offered 2nd place st the start of this season, most of us would have snapped their hands off.

First is the priority, the aim, but for me, I'll be delighted with second and finally getting out of this shocking league.
