The title race

It wasn't dropped points or a bad result, the performance on the otherhand is really the only thing in question. It's all about getting over the line and keeping teams at arms length at this stage which I think we'll have no problem in doing. Even if our performance levels aren't at their normal high standards we still don't lose, it's great. :)

Read the reports of today's match.

Bolton were poor again today.
Shrewsbury were the better side and Bolton could only score from set pieces.

Bolton aren't that good and we've nothing to worry about.

Bolton should beat Oldham. Can't think of a more suitable game for them. Southend is their hardest game for me. To be fair if they win all 3 then you have to give them huge credit

How is it a poor result? It keeps our unbeaten run going, we're exactly the same amount of points ahead of 3rd (the most important stat) as we were at 3 o clock, and now we have one less game to play.

Guys, when Barney is the sensible voice of reason, you know you're talking horseshit.

First half cost us, it was bloody awful, same goes for the fans chanting that same song for 40 minutes.
Pitch wasn't an excuse Oldham played some football, so did we in parts but got to say tactic's has cost us today. I don't have a clue what the team talk was before the game.

You're slagging off fans for chanting for 40 minutes?

A few of them chanted 'Chris Wilder's red and white army' solid for about 25 minutes. All that does is discourage and prevent other/louder chants from starting. It's stupid.

Then second half we sang for about 30 seconds after we scored, and that was that.

Fantastic considering we're about to be promoted.

nopigfansintown posted about a large percentage of free tickets being handed out for away games. I'm starting to think they make up about 50% of our following.

Can't believe no-one accepts Bolton may well win the league.
We are the perennial bottlers.
I pray we win the cunt. Anything less is frankly not worth a lot.Woo fucking hoo we got out of the cunts league after half a fucking decade. Fuck off.Win it Blades.

I agree with a lot of what you say SBT, but I have to disagree here my friend.

Personally I think we only expect the title because of how good we've been this season. We've created the expectation.

Top 1 or 2 would be amazing.

Second would be a very big let down my friend. And you know I respect your opinons.

We may have bottled it a lot in the past. But this current team that Chris Wilder has sculptured are solid as a rock and will not bottle it. If Bolton become champions it will have to be because they do outstandingly well.

I wrote Bolton off about 5 games ago, since then they have continued to prove me completely wrong. Bastards.

Bolton & us top of the form table (both over the last 6 & the last 10) - for all the pressure they're applying, we're not cracking.

We've got a better record (by a point) over the past 10.

They've gained 2 points on us over the past 6 (during which time they've won their 5 on the spin).

So, even just taking form over the past 6, if both sides' form continues as it's been going, Bolton won't have enough games left to catch us.

One more thing to consider - that form over the past 10 includes the run of games throughout February that all of us were wary about (as the "make or break" stretch - Scunny, Bolton et al). And during that period (& despite their fine win at Fleetwood), when Bolton had a string of games against better sides they wobbled - & went 4 without a win. Their string of consecutive away games coming up soon - Southend, Scunny & Oldham - is key. They could still blow it

Still a fair amount of water to flow under the bridge - but we're remaining very strong.

A bit like a boxing match where the skilled fighter is ahead on points and using the jab to keep the big bruiser at arms length 7 rounds to go the bruiser will punch himself out and not go the distance.

We've been coasting for so long now these dropped points might be a timely reminder that the title ain't ours yet, if at all.
I sincerely hope this under par performance at lowly Oldham serves as a collective kick up the arse and spurs us on to finish the season off in style.

Do you honestly think your style of football is suited to the championship, your welcome to hoofball, land of giants and debt and no fans.

The only reason Bolton have got themselves back into the top 2 is because they've copied us (and Fleetwood).

3-5-2.

Based on one promotion you've witnessed in 20 years no doubt.

Not many to pick from in the last 20 years but here's the last 50 or so

1960-61 Finished second

1970-71 Finished second

1983-84 Finished third (three promoted)

1988-89 Finished second

1989-90 Finished second

2005-06 Finished second

This suggests that in promotion years we go up as bridesmaids. which was the point I made
