The title race

My cousin went to see them today. He's a football man through and through, very astute. He said the Shrews battered them at times, the difference being Championship quality strikers. We have to admit, they do have some quality players, but then so do we and we are the better team. I can see them going ahead of us at some point, but nerves will start to show and they will end up below us. Note: I am shit at predictions.

Their summariser on Sky described Bolton as "effective".

Which will translate as big and hoofy with a couple of decent players.

All that every normal thinking blade wanted today was at least the 10 point gap between us and Fleetwood.
Promotion first.
Cake later.

Where the cake at?

Decent result given the conditions, can't win em all but it keeps out unbeaten run going and will warn us against complacency going forward.

Today was not a good result. All of you who choose to think differently, go for it. We will be promoted no doubt, but today's results will set Bolton up for a grandstand charge, let's just hope they slip up, but it's a shame we are now hoping, rather than ensuring, by getting the three points that were there for the taking today, and are we EVER going to keep a clean fucking sheet away from home?

Was his seat facing the pitch?

I still think we'll win the title, but I can understand why some are nervous. To the people that don't care whether we finish 1st or 2nd and have sly digs at other blades who want to win the league... all I shall say is that in life there are winners and there are losers.

Probably sat the same way as David Prutton on Sky who echoes those comments.

Bolton are a strong side and have everything you need at this level but they are unlikely to dominate anyone due to their style. They are almost totally reliant on set pieces and long throws and they have mastered them. You can't be shocked when neutrals say they are unimpressed when they watch Bolton though surely

Just the 14 goals scored in the last 4 away games and only 4 conceded...

Squeaky bum time for the Blades...

Dearie me.

Your team has had a good away win today and by way of celebration you're on here within minutes posting exactly the same comment you posted on Tuesday night within half an hour of that away win.

Get a life. Your profile says you're 47. Are you sure you're not 10?

You're confusing dominance of the scoreline with dominance of the play. Bolton are the most efficient side in this division: strong at centre half and centre forward but with nothing much between.

Cf the football lesson you got at the Lane.

In what possible way does that show dominance in terms of play? We all saw the Oxford game. You know as well as we all do your team is reliant on set plays

Five wins on the bounce actually.

The thread's about the title. No one else allowed to join in then?

I'd take 2nd now TBH.

Objective is promotion, title is a touch of gloss that's all.

Our reserves you mean.

You want to hear what they're saying about your lot on Greater Manchester Radio. Distinctly unimpressed.

So you'd be more impressed if we were dominating possession? I'd prefer us to just carry on winning.

No 3 points are ever there for the taking, especially against a team that has something to play for.

Funnily enough we played like you play. No point in passing on that pitch so we went Bolton lite. You will be fine when you go there because you won't have to adjust

I was told I was greedy last week by someone in the pub, because I said I really wanted to win the title as we hadn't won anything gets since my first season in 81/82.

Promotion will be a terrific achievement for Wilder in any form, but seeing as the only silverware we've won in about 60 years is the 4th division, I don't see a problem in people being desperate to finish top.

My assessment today was a hard earned point but I felt we let the pitch win. We clearly changed our tactics because Fleck just knocked it on and we lumped it from front to back. When did start playing when Coutts came on, we started getting in behind and created a couple of good chances.

At the end of the season the best team ends up top. If that's Bolton then fair play to them. We both have some tough games left and whichever team holds their nerve better will win out.
That said Bolton have to overturn a four point lead so we are still favourites as it stands.

Getting your excuses in early?
