The Rebuild

Leeds will get Ramsdale and relegate him again, now that's nailed on
Wouldn't surprise me if they got Nick Pope, seen a few Leeds fans going on about him and how they should get him if he leaves Newcastle.

The rebuild starts with sacking wilder with or without promotion. Give another manager a crack at this squad.
have to agree with this post time to bring a younger more progressive attack minded manager to come in unless we go up via the play offs cant see wilder being given another shot at it i actually think weve got the players to win promotion but sorry to say not the manager far too cautious certainly not the wilder first time round

Wilder will leave us as he found us first and second time totally fucked.
This squad are playing with their heads down and Wilder ain’t got a clue how to lift them it’s gone.
Before anybody says I and others are delighting in what’s happening I can assure I’m not.

Is that Charlie Hughes at Hull?

Didn't he just sign for them last summer after they got big money for Greaves, he won't be cheap, maybe if Hull go down it might decrease the price, depends how much money we have to spend.

Poku and Dolan, good options, same with Dunne and Darling, four free transfers that would make the squad so much better.

Is Holding out of contract in the summer?, even if he isn't, it should be cheap to get him out of Palace.

Kone won't be cheap as Wycombe were turning down £7m+ bids in January, especially after we've already invested in Cannon who can hopefully kick on now that he's finally off the mark, if the opportunity was there I would try and sign him through, maybe send them Oné on loan as well.

I think a lot of it depends on whether we stick with the 4-2-3-1 next season or go with something else, 4-4-2, 3-5-2?.
If Wycombe fail to go up you could see him become more available at a decent price.

I get what you say regarding cannon but I posted elsewhere that hes a player that doesn't fit into a lone striker role and needs a partner (Burnley, he had Moore and ended up scoring). Bringing in kone to replace brewster would be great business, if viable.

Hughes becomes available at a decent price if Hull are relegated as you say, but I'd also like to test their resolve and throw in that hes missed a chunk of games through injury to justify lower price.

Holding I believe is out of contract? If not then as you say should be cheap palace only paid £1.5m for him.

In regards to Kone, could be yes, especially if it's a cheaper offer (say £5-7m for example), Wycombe might look at that and go, "we could buy two/three quality L1/Champ players for that, and push on for promotion next season".

Maybe send Oné and/or Marsh to Wycombe on loan (and cover all of their wages, they won't be on a lot) as a little incentive to bring the price down, or maybe sell them someone else (Shackleton, RND, Adam Davies?) in a player swap.

That would leave us with Kone, Cannon, Campbell and Moore (Oné and Marsh out on loan) as four really good striker options for next season, hopefully in a two up top.

Holding for £1.5m would be a good bargain, especially if he doesn't have long left on his contract.

I liked Hughes when he was at Wigan, but for that same amount of money (hopefully), I'd be tempted to see if we can get Souttar on a permanent instead, especially if he wants to come back and tries to force a move.

Totally agree with what you have said and I think we'd get holding for less, as I mentioned I'm sure he's either out of contract or will be in the final year.

Even without a player swap, I'd be looking to move those players on you'd mentioned on along with some of the others.

Re soutter, I get people would want him (me included) but we have to know if he would be same player and also would Leicester be willing to sell to a rival? They bought him for £15M and for that sort of money id rsther us push boat for Hughes as he would be better investment, he's younger and better ball player and more mobile with a higher ceiling. (Dream team would be both of them, but that we can't afford).

One of the better things about next seasons rebuild as well, regardless of division, is Arblaster.

Get him back fit and firing in preseason 🤞 and get him back into midfield with the armband next season.

For someone who was meant to go to Rotherham on loan, Peck has vastly exceeded expectations since he came into the team, and is one of the first names on the team sheet.

But for me, Arblaster gives us something extra that Peck hasn't given us this season (even though Peck has had some good chances), a goal threat from CM.

If Blaster hadn't got injured, I'd wager that he'd have at least 6-10 goals from CM by now, he got 2 before his injury (both in August) and Davies has 1 (3 goals from CM in total, not including goals from CAM), Brownhill has 16, from both CM and CAM.

We need a goal threat from midfield next season, regardless of what division we're in, we need more goals from midfield if we want to challenge/survive.

Kone
Poku
Dolan
Dunne
Darling
Holding
Hughes

Just for starts with at least 3 of those been squad players, so we can have similar quality depth as both Leeds and burnley this season.

Then x2 new cms and x2 wingers.

This is my opinion for chamiosnhip 25/26.
Doesn't have the same ring to it as the roll call in trumpton firestation but it may work.

Peck will score goals
Once he gets one he will get a lot more

Forgot about him, he could be a good shout with or without wilder. A solid replacement for Shackleton who needs to be moved on.

Would /should be more than enough for that rb spot, if we have seriki, Dunne, jjk.
Who's Shackleton ????

One should be pushing for first team football with us next season. He's 19 in the summer, already experienced Championship football and generally looked better than Cannon.

Shackleton (Len) was the Sunderland player who, in his book, entitled one of the chapters, "The Average Directors' Knowledge of Football". Upon turning to the said chapter there was a completely blank page. Don't know if our Shackleton is related.

I would like to see Oné push for more involvement next season, but he's 4th choice at the moment, add Kone and that makes him 5th choice.

He's got Moore, Cannon and Campbell in front of him, all three of whom are established and experienced at Championship level, especially Moore and Campbell.

If we persist with the two up top (and don't sign another ST), including going for the typical physical + goalscorer pair, that leaves him and Moore competing for that 1 physical ST position, while Cannon and Campbell compete for the other spot.

Oné has looked good in flashes this season, but at the moment i think he's still in that gap between regular league football and u23's football.

He needs regular game time (preferably starting) to get out of that gap and make the step up, just like Peck, Arblaster and Seriki have all done.

Charlie Cresswell (if surplus at Leeds)
Anselmo McNulty
Noah Ohio

Would all be on my shopping list if we don’t go up McNulty and Ohio worth a look as depth or development options if we do go up.

I remember Cresswell scored twice on his debut for Millwall v the clayheads a couple of years ago which makes him a hero in our house. Wikipedia has him at Toulouse permanently rather than on loan?

You’re right I thought he’d gone on loan 4.5 million a very reasonable fee for him one that we might’ve missed the boat on then in the ownership summer shambles.

He’d have been ideal for us.

I can see Cooper staying for another season if we don't go up. That's if we get a good manager.

This thread being about rebuild means it needs to be done from ground level.
(1) Wilder needs to be gone ( I love the bloke for some of the best moments we've had in years but time to move on )
(2) the whole " identity " of our playing style needs to be overhauled
(3) amongst the current group of players there's very few myself personally I would keep.
(4) don't throw good money at crocks and players looking for a last payday or loans of players top clubs want off the books for ffp
(5) director of football needed
(6) build the squad around academy players with sensible development signings and good aged experienced players
(7) push the boat out for a good head coach ( slav would have done a good job but just got the wrong owner !!!

And before the Wilder love in group start read 1

Well out of our range but a guy called Dominica todescu is currently out of work 😁😁

We are going to have to use the loan market wisely next season as there will be at least 4 sides in The Championship with more money to spend than us,

Steve Cooper has managed to get a side promoted using the loan market to it’s utmost so that’s another tick in his box when looking for a replacement manager.

Hopefully quietly in the background contact has already been made with potential managerial targets.
Am I missing something? Have the playoffs already finished?
