A few questions which make no sense...

I don't know, they don't communicate much at all! But you would assume they would have had advisors who would tell them if they didn't. They will have had the financials of the club examined with a fine tooth comb and had to pass EFL checks evidencing how they'd fund it for the next few seasons. I can't believe in 2026 such a big financial transaction/purchase would happen without them understanding parachute payments but I suppose you never know.

Quite possible that they bought us after being convinced that we would be in the PL so weren't too worried about parachute payments?

I appreciate that SCR limits the wage bill in any case.

I'm fairly sure they can fund the club through equity and it's not included in that figure.

I think many other Championship clubs will be in the same boat as we are come next summer. If you don’t go up this season and have gambled on big signings or holding on to your key sellable assets then reality hits you fast!

Brooks and Hamer were always going, I presumed Peck would go and maybe Burrows. O’Hare going so late makes him hard to replace.

Donovan and BBD replaced Brooks and Hamer, but I think Donovan is more of a direct replacement for O’Hare when you look at his overall play.

Last night we looked more balanced but without anyone taking control of the defence or midfield for long periods. Phillips coming in did make us more robust in the middle. The worry is at the back, but I am hoping that Kitching will at least strengthen the LCB position.

Losing Seriki is a big loss, Hamza needs to step up quickly and get match fit.

I think it's clear that we have had to raise funds to manage the new rules in the league.
It may also be that the owners had means to inject more funds into the budget and didn't. Either by choice or not.
The owners are though very absent from all matters. And haven't even allowed Bettis the chance to be questioned on club matters to the local or national press.

It screams of an ownership group who really are looking to either offload or get a significant investor in that they can take the back seat.

Last summer we spent too much on very little returns. Tanganga is the only fee paid player who has played consistently since signing.
McGuinness and Chong cost about 6m for the pair and only now has McGuinness been starting consistently. And that is due to the fact we didn't bring in another defender until now.

But last summer our ins vs outs meant we only really spent in terms of fees about £3m. We haven't actually spent much on fee's vs the fees received the past 3 seasons.
Wage bill obv went up in the PL, but will have been decreasing upon each year back down. However we wasted alot last summer which will have had an impact on this season.

As for this summers transfers. We can see that for whatever reason that the board instructed us to make far more in sales than in purchases.
Perhaps they always expected a bid for Peck that would have raised £12m or more alone?

We still have the loan space for January I suppose and it's pointless signing anyone if they aren't going to have an impact.
I am hoping we sign a free or two to help with our lack of numbers up top end of the pitch. But I am not holding my breath.

Wrexham? They do have some lucrative sponsorship deals which allow them to spend so much.
But 80m euros in fees in 2 seasons with basically no fees out is insane. If they don't make it up this season they may have to start cutting a bit.
