The Lundstram haters.

The team is changing around Lunny, it’s finding a way to win....and play well. UTB!

what a really weird thread.

Lundstram isn’t Paul Coutts but is a very decent young footballer, that’s why we spent so much of the summer transfer fund on him.

We do have some odd fans. I was discussing it with my 14 year old daughter after the match today, she’s played competitively at a high level for 7 years now and, happily, knows much more about football than many on this thread. She thinks Lundstram is excellent, some of you will disagree but she has played at a higher level & knows more than you, so pipe down

Your daughter has been playing at a high level since she was seven years old.?

Why have I not noticed her on Match of the Day ?

Exactly, so Bash out. No room for sentiment & CCV doesn’t deserve dropping.
It's not a matter of who deserves what.

Basham at RCB gives us much more balance and much better options going forward, for the good of the team that's where he should be.

Gives us attacking options on both sides, makes it easier for the midfielders to look either side making us a much more dangerous team going forward, and that's the way we play.

Teams come against us and just try and stop Lundstram playing knowing Batham’s passing ability is average.

Now Fleck is back teams will have to stop him also.

Another MoM performance from Lundstram. He is close to be an excellent championship player. I believe CW and AK will improve him the way that they did Fleck etc.

Name me one player who never gives the ball away?

*Coutts doesn’t count as, despite the song, he also gave the ball away occasionally.
well Mr wilder brought it up in his interview after about him giving the ball away when it wasn't necessary. So there!

But that wasn’t my point. I never said he hadn’t given the ball away a few times

Lundstram was at the heart of most of what we did yesterday, in the first half at least. His speed of thought is so much more effective than it was a few weeks ago. I guess that's what regular pitch-time and match sharpness brings you.

He was that influential yesterday, that I was surprised Coleman didn't do anything to try to nullify him. After 20 mins, I'd have reshaped to stick a man on him, to try to mark him out of the game and stop us functioning. They clearly didn't come to play, only to block and disrupt, so they wouldn't have had much to lose by doing so.

But I'm a vulgar uncouth moron, and WTFDIK ?

We won and Lundstrum did ok.

Like Wilder said post match he was frustrating. He had a few nice touches but then gave the ball away in the first half, he was better 2nd.

Nothing against him, he makes quite a lot of mistakes, but he's young and learning at this level.

I always said Lunstram had to grow into the roll given to him by Coutts unfortunate absence. It just took him a handful games to realise he doesn’t have to go chasing around the pitch, to be useful to the team.
The Coutts formula ain’t that difficult to replicate...... Just stay in middle of the park, always be available to receive ball and give ball to a team mate ......Simples.

Totally agree, football can be a very simple game and the really top players have speed of thought and know when to keep it simple and when to try something more ambitious.

The last player that really impressed me playing such a simple pass and move game was Gordon Cowans.
He was the original Paul Coutts, just stood around the centre circle area, made himself available, instant control and played short passes. Also Cowans NEVER gave the ball away either.

Actually the ex Villa oldies of Gordon Cowans and Paul McGrath were both top top class for us and far better than I expected.
