The kop

So the stand is shit, then you berate the club when they don't up open it when it's not necessary to do so

Yes.....? It's shit but it's important.

Are you seriously saying we didn’t celebrate promotion?

In the ground v Ipswich, as little as we possibly could have.

Why don't we just forget the Kop and try and get some atmosphere going in the blut? Surely if a few of us got sat together at the back we could get it rocking up there. Anyone fancy it?

Eh?

Oh right

Funny joke, mate.

You're right I suppose. We did clap them off.

😭 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
What do you surgest we should have done? Invaded the pitch? Set off flares? Carried the players off shoulder high when we were specifically asked not to go on the pitch?
yes of course we only clapped them off. Only in your world did that happen.

Why doesn't everyone stand up? It makes a difference to the atmosphere, the team, stops you feeling sleepy and stops DVT.

Do it, it's worth at least an additional 6 points this season and could also save your life.

Everyone stands up where we are all game through (top right of the kop)

I couldn’t believe how many people sat down on Boxing Day - but there was a lot of new faces and it was sold out so it’s to be expected really - I still stood up and had the best view I think I’ve ever had from the back of the kop so each to their own - we do what we want

Well I’ve sat in the BLUT for most games this season (so as near to an away view as you can get). The atmosphere has been disappointing at almost every game, to say we’re in the best period of many supporters’ lives. Very rarely any songs sung and far from an intimidating level either!

I personally don’t really give much of a monkeys about atmosphere as in more bothered about what happens on the pitch (that’s what I pay my money for) but it bothers me when I see people online trying to defend our atmosphere and say our fans are brilliant, when in truth they aren’t. I live in Leeds now and go to the odd game with pals and, as much as I don’t like to admit it, standing on their kop for 90 mins is a totally different experience as they are noisy and persistent for the whole game.

It’s a shame, but we’re 7th in the prem, so who gives a toss?

As Cahill said, the BLUT is hardly the place to go for atmosphere. Its got no season ticket holders which doesn't help.

The Kop at the Lane is a decent atmosphere, although against Watford it was mixed because the game was so frustrating to watch, due to Watford's tactics and that's their peroragitive.

As for Leeds, I think they're similar to us: good away but but not as good at home, that's probably the same for most clubs. They tend to sing only one or two songs - Marching on and just shouting Leeds Leeds Leeds.

But I think when you judge an atmosphere, you have to judge it from the perspective of an away fan (which is as near as you can get in the BLUT) and the ground is quiet for very large periods. For example, I remember Villa singing ‘football in a library’ on several occasions throughout that game!

Regards Leeds, and can I say that I despise them living here, honestly their home support is outstanding and they sing (and stand) for the full game every time. Their atmosphere is really good.
I also had a ST on the kop for 10 years so I can speak from that POV also.

As I said in my original post, I’m not one for a pissing contest of ‘our fans are better than yours’ or whatever, I much prefer ‘my team is better than yours’ so I’m happy, but to claim Bramall Lane is a good atmosphere is very far from the truth. Clearly won’t be a popular post on a blades forum, but I can only speak from an objective POV, and there are many grounds with better atmospheres and noise levels than BL.

Stupid rules? Brought in on the back of the Taylor report after the death of 95 innocent football fans like you and me. Great post.
The 96 died due to a number of factors. Of course, if the Leppings Lane had been all-seater there would have been no deaths. If there had been no perimeter fencing there would have also been no deaths. If the police were competent there would also have been no deaths.

implying that another tragedy could occur because some fans choose to stand at the back in an all-seater stand with stringent crowd monitoring and no perimeter fences is bollocks. The sooner it is accepted that some fans will always stand and rail seating is introduced the better.

I haven't implied anything. I've stated fact. Deal with it.

It was justice Taylor's decision after an in depth investigation, not mine. That's a fact.

Chaps and chapesses, I've chatted with a lot of visiting fans this season (and previous). Nearly always complimentary of the Lane atmosphere. Always a hint of envy considering our (fantastic) city location.

Have a beer and enjoy. UTB

I respect your view mate, but I can't agree re Leeds, I've been there, although not regularly, and they sing when they're winning as far as I'm concerned. They are good fans though, particularly away, but I believe we're also well supported and again particularly away. I agree the Kop could be better, but it's still a good atmosphere. We need safe standing at the Kop, that can't come soon enough and will make a big difference.

I've been away many times and most fans sing football in a library to be honest. The Lane is certainly better than most in my view. The atmosphere this season has been decent at the Lane, not just the big games either.

The atmosphere has been poor by our standards. But we’re the runaway leaders for atmosphere in a very underwhelming Premier League.
