The Kean Bryan thread

The biggest thing we need to do is pick a Lcb and stick with them. Whether it's Robinson or Bryan, they need time to build and understand the system. It's obvious that there's no understanding in our defence at the moment, last season the back three instinctively knew what to do and where to be. For me lack of individual quality becomes less obvious when there's collective understanding.

Pick one, stick with them. Even if they make a couple of errors, build relationships and errors will reduce.
Results mean we feel we need to keep changing things, but lack of consistency is only compounding this issue.

If Kean fucking Bryan is worth a run in the team then I’ll accept that Wilder’s fully accepted relegation. He struggles against National League opposition.

He looked a lot better against Wba than I thought he would be,that cross he put in was akin to those Robertson puts in for Liverpool, more plz !

Which games?
He played and struggled badly against National League Barnet and AFC Fylde. He played awfully against Sunderland last season, got subbed early on vs Blackburn the previous round. West Brom just a few days ago. Also counted the Burton, Stade Reims and Derby friendlies as they stick out, but most of the friendlies of the last couple of pre seasons actually count for more than 8.
I’m guessing however that you’ll insist pre season doesn’t count for whatever reason.

Im sure CW will get a LCB in january, we just need to hold on for another month

You are assuming he hasn't improved since playing in the last year or so then, he wasn't the worst player on the pitch against WBA!
Judging him against WBA i think he might just become a descent player for us, he showed some promise.
Whoever plays in the defense against Leicester are going to get tested! - and then slammed on this chat board!

I don’t know, to me at WBA he looked exactly the same as he has in those aforementioned games. Really hope you’re right though, desperate for someone to look at home in that spot til JOC’s back.

You’ll have wanted to bin John Egan after his first 8 games then?

Not bad at all going forward. Which is why i totally lost it at one point in the first half when he inexplicably dicided to turn backwards instead of progressing into the acres of space in front if him.

If Wilder decides he may be part of the solution between now and January then he needs to have a series of games.

I don't think it is really fair to have a team struggling in a position all season, drag someone from the wider squad then expect him to be the immediate solution in such a specialised role.

You're not going to get much overlap with Robinson. He's steady-ish but pretty much culpable for a goal every game he plays. He's also got a certain tackle in him which will see us down to 10 men in matches.

I'd say Bryan is likely to have both higher upside due to better individual attributes (pace, ability on the ball, crossing, athleticism) but a lower downside due to consistency and lack of games.

He's 24 now. It's time he makes his move. He either shows himself to have a future here between now and Christmas or he moves on in January.

I find myself saying a few times recently, fine margins.

If Berge had made a routine clearance properly and Burke had got either a little more or little less purchase on the header, Keen Bryan would have been the toast of the fan base with the peach of a cross he put in.

Because he's not slow, Leicester might be a game he'd do ok in.

The fact we are starting Kean Bryan at LCB tells you all you need to know about why we are where we are.
Him and Lowe are light years away from where we need to be and the reason why nearly everything attacking wise from WB came down the LHS.
He’s a posh Ethan Landell/Cameron Carter Vickers.
The only possible reason Jags isn’t starting is lack of pace with no quick enough to cover. which highlights another problem with our back 3. None are particularly fast.

I fear vardy will have a field day Saturday.

So painfully out of his depth. Hard to watch that today. The main worry is we have a squad of complete dross when we inevitably lose our 3/4 good players in the summer.

He really wasn't at it today along with many others.

His recent performances have been alright but today he was fucking awful.

I wouldn’t judge him too harshly on today, as with the other defenders. The midfield basically left them to fend for themselves with one of the best attacking teams in the division constantly coming at them. He’s shown moments of good play previously, it would be good to see how he does in a settled side, not the shambles we’ve currently got.

1 bad game. The rest, he's been one of our best players. Give him a decent run of games and he'll be one of our better players especially if played at LWB

Poor today very obvious he’s not come across a player like vardy before always looked like he thought he had time to take a touch and then vardy was on him. He’ll learn from today.

Are you related to him?? He has been awful

I thought he was awful today. Ball watching for their first goal. Caught in possession and they then scored the second. He made lots of defensive errors too. Next year I hope we play a back four of Baldock Egan O’Connell RND. No need for Stevens , Lowe and Bryan then hopefully.
