Teams that might get relegated from Prem in 23/24

Are you a pig?
No, just realistic.

Southampton got 25 points this season, the season before Norwich got 22 & Watford 23. The season before that we got 23, WBA 26 & Fulham 28. The season before that Norwich got 21 points. And the season before Huddersfield got 16 and Fulham 26 points.

These figures are what I've based my prediction for next season on, rather than blind optimism.

Fivethirtyeight's stat models would have a league table looking something like this atm. At the start of the season they use the previous season's ending SPI rankings and squad market values with a 2/3 and 1/3 weighting. Loads of flaws of course (they had Norwich and Watford to be promoted from the championship last year 😂) and scope for signings over summer from all teams including us, but it throws off a pretty reasonable order to me IMO, though Everton seem too high.

Sorry but if a predicted table isn't devised using a "supercomputer" then I'm just not interested

Bad news from our perspective. Top manager.

Good news about spending restrictions I suppose.

Too early to judge for me as a lot will depend on what squads look like when the seasons starts.

Our transfer dealings will have to be on point for us to have a realistic chance of being safely mid table.

They do say the promoted 3 don't all go down 😉
"They?" Pray tell, who might "They" be?

I recognise that personal, mostly subjective, opinion dictates the pages of this forum, but suggesting that invisible groups of uncertain people can determine what happens is mind-numbing. The fiscal poverty that exists within Sheffield United points in one direction, a row it's a longheld ambition, but without a visionary Board, where there's tangible optimism, a desire to succeed, without these qualities we have little to suggest that we'll make the type of progress that every Blade craves.

If we manage to avoid relegation then it might provide the impetus that has been missing, but it will take something of this magnitude to create a real and realistic chance to move forward.

What???

Poorly worded replies serve no purpose, so get your finger out and provide something that offers a coherent response that makes sense.
What the fuck are you on about?? What's with the attack? Its weird.

All I said was in 'jest' that it's rare all the 3 promoted teams get relegated.

Certainly not an attack, assuming you'd recognise one if you tripped over it.
There was no suggestion of what you describe as 'jest'. To say otherwise is misleading and makes your weird post even less interesting.

Too much sun or beer?

The 😉 on the post gave an idea I wasn't 100% serious.

Not interesting but decided to pick up on a short comment I made weeks ago?

Your level of perception is poor to say the least. I don't drink alcohol so you're way off identifying what I'm like. Best advice is to stop trying to convince that scoring points matters. You must have better things to occupy yourself with? If you're at a loss to consider what might be worth pursuing there are plenty of grownup subjects to consider that are better suited to wasting your time on this.

Have you bumped your head lately mate?

Asking for a friend

Now that's clearly a lie. Instead of asking a mature, intelligent question you felt it had more mileage if you dressed this up with something 'humorous'.

My head's fine thanks, but your reason for this 3rd rate attempt at making a point seems, well, shallow at best, and clueless at worst.

If I recall the school reports of some of my peers, 'must try harder' seems entirely appropriate. If you write again, make a little effort, but please don't waste yourself on such empty point scoring.

Fallowfield thinks there is 5/6 teams who can go down

US & Luton heavy favourites IMO

Burnley may do well but may do a Norwich

Palace Woy may have got them going but Zaha has gone and i think Woy got a big manager bounce last year

Bournemouth Also surely they can’t over achieve as much as last year

Brentford may get pulled in to it Frank isn’t as good a manager as the media make out and Toney has carried them we have seen small margins make a massive difference

Everton have Dyche so they won’t go down

Forest have a top class manager and will no doubt spend money again

The rest are in a different league IMO

3 from 6 for me 🤷‍♂️

Brentford won their last 3 games without Toney, not that I put much weight on a teams performance when the league is done and dusted, but still, business model fc ain't done bad.

im not sure whats going off in personal life. but taking it out on Ndiayewillalwaysloveyou instead what or who is actually upsetting you isnt going to help. as you seem to determined to make or technically argument out of nothing.

what he is says is spot on has merit as a quick Google will show that at least 1 promoted club has survived every season of the premier league bar 1 1997/98.

Not looking for or seeking an argument. But when a poster suggests that they included a smiley to compound their position, when in fact no such thing was included, then all I can do is consider that fibs are at work. If there had been any respect towards said poster it quickly vanished when it became clear that no such smiley was employed.

As for my personal life, it's mine to discuss if I'm in the mood, but that's unlikely on this forum so please don't bother yourself with my life.

I couldn't understand the last sentence of your first paragraph, that's not me seeking an argument, just a helpful bit of advice that it might be useful if you take your time when constructing a message.

In our first season in the top flight last time we struggled to score goals and only got 39 in 38 games. There were lots of games where we failed to score. Our rock solid defence kept us up and made sure that 1-0 was often enough. McBurnie was our top scoring striker with only 6 league goals.

The second season we still struggled to score only the defence was no longer rock solid and we poor at both ends resulting in relegation.

Our current strike force is arguably weaker now than it was then, with McBurnie once again due to spearhead our attack.

With an alleged £20mil to spend I can't see us getting a better reliable goalscorer for free, other than maybe Pukki, and reliable goal scoring loan signings are rare.

I can only see us occupying one of the bottom three spots. Sorry.

No need to apologise.
Our 5man defence in 19/20 included a JoC heading for the England team + worth about £50m. Also a younger Egan , Bash , Stevens & Baldock.
Apart from Anel , our current defence is poorer by comparison - needs 2 class additions. Can't count RND coz no idea if he's mended well.
Our midfield has just lost 2 excellent loanees - both need replacing with at least equivalent quality.
If we don't manage to recruit 4 players in defence & midfield who are serious candidates to start in the eleven , we don't have a realistic prospect of staying up.
In attack , we have Ndiaye , McB & Jebbo. Can't count Brewster coz no idea if he'll ever mend. Crying out for at least 1 additional striker.
That's 5 players for the starting eleven of a PL team hoping to finish 17th.
Crack on Hecky lad !

Hecky is correct though , when he says that character & attitude are crucial to recruitment in this window.
Newbies must realise that it's a relegation battle + have the guts for it.
When I contemplate what's coming , I want to see a real 'Band of Brothers' vibe.
And maybe a few players who develop over the season.
Unlike last season , it's better not to have any expectations regarding the actual results & finishing position.

Character and attitude yeah…and we also need bigger, stronger, fitter players who can run all day and are technically gifted.

It’s quite a challenge

US is a country and not a football team.

Hope that helps :)

Agreed, I don't mind settling for a Europa League spot if we can't make the Champions League 😋

Aren't Everton getting a points deduction?
My tip is for this playing out like the Tevez affair.

Nothing is done about Everton’s half a billion in loses until next season is over. Everton finish a point above the relegation zone. Probably at our expense in 18th.

I’m guessing Everton away at Arsenal last game of season is confirmation for the conspiracy believers out there

Survived yet again thanks to rest of the premier league
