For me, yesterday really does feel like history could repeat itself.

We had done well in the league, played in the final against a team we finished well above and bottled it.

Its so defining that our morale hits the floor, our better players will leave and we have to cut our cloth accordingly.

A slow start next season could make things toxic, so I honestly don't rule out us getting relegated next season, as what happened in 2010.

The mistake we made in 2009 was dithering, keeping Blackwell who failed in his assignment then ditching him straightaway when things went tough upending everything.

If Wilder is to stay, his heart needs to be in it with a clear plan. Ok things are tough right now but I don't see any signs of that so far.

Mid table is lowest I think. Too many teams what are average

We weren’t relegated the season after losing to Burnley.

Blackwell offered his resignation after that Wembley defeat in 2009, as he knew what ‘cloth-cutting’ was going to be required by the Board over the Summer - for instance, the ‘buy one full-back, get the future best full-back in the world virtually free’ offer that Spurs snapped up, as well as getting the Robson-era big wages off the books, signing Evans and Henderson and a cast of loanees.

The 09/10 season was the one where Blackwell just about kept us within touching distance of the play-offs. We finished 8th, 5 points behind 6th placed Blackpool who went up.

We went down the following season -2010/11 - having given Blackwell the Summer to prepare before sacking him after 2 league games.

Or we might use the disappointment as fuel to fire us to automatic promotion...

I think there is a damned site more chance of that happening rather than us going down. Won't happen.

Or could we do what Leeds have just done after losing to Southampton in the PO Final last year?

Yes but that's Leeds, not us.

Apologies though I misremembered the first season after our play off failure.

I applaud Wilder for fronting up and going on Talk sport this morning and its natural that's he upset and needs some time to reflect.

This shouldn't be for too long however. We can mope as fans, he can't as our manager.

We could. Unless we appoint Micky Adams and sell half the team without adequately replacing them. we won't even come close. Wilder has completely overhauled the squad, although you could argue that he has not figured out a system to get the best out of them.

We've sold several players without replacing them and don't have the system.

Very worrying.

We are 33-1 to get relegated.

I could see those odds shortening and we do look like a relegation-candidate team so far.

Looking more and more likely, except we're now starting to get into David Weir territory.
