Takeover

The point being, doing more of the same will deliver the same outcome as the previous 100 years - absolutely fuck all. Even the dumbest amongst them would understand that.

I'm making the point that a club that can average towards 30,000 gates, yet can't win a cup in a century, or maintain top flight status for any significant period in the last half century, perhaps doesn't have much to fear in any new takeover, no matter who it is.
Avoiding the inevitable slow season by season decline back to league one would do me

Football fans are a fickle bunch, but it's not easy to find any Newcastle fans who had a positive view of the Ashley era. Even McCabe had (has) support from a section of Blades and he was responsible for multiple shocking decisions along the way.

I wouldnt want Mike Ashley anywhere near us. He won't touch the training ground, Bramall Lane will look ridiculous covered in Sports Direct adverts, and he'll make some awful back room appointments. His first move would probably be to text Billy and Bash to tell them to not bother coming in on Monday.

While we do need new owners/investors, we don't need Mike Ashley.
To be clear, I don’t want Mike Ashley - I just don’t particularly fear him. And to be honest, I do fear the next few years under the current ownership, if we don’t get promoted this season.

Meaning well but being broke takes us nowhere.

Says bid accepted and that Mauriss’s company believe proof of funds and ability to sustain has been demonstrated

The American businessman, Henry Mauriss has confirmed he has made an offer to purchase 100% of Sheffield United. It’s worth 115m pounds and the offer has been accepted. Mr. Mauriss’ company believes they have demonstrated the financial capability to purchase and sustain #SUFC

Seems odd that the magpies deal didn’t happen as apparently he took too long to raise the £350m

Not encouraging

This is half the amount, so should take half the time yeah?

What will Mcabe think of this turn of events?
Missed on on a few million?

I don't think he is real.
So the Prince and representatives from the club/legal counsel have met with who, a cardboard cut out? Don’t you think they’d perform their own checks before committing to any deal?

It’s worth remembering that the Prince lives in the US and will undoubtedly have contacts who know this person.

I'm hugely sceptical. As per others, you don't become an American billionaire silently.
It's worrying that so little is known about him.

Further, American capitalists rarely part with their cash charitably.
Football owners have to be willing to lose their money. Americans aren't. They're greedy.
We will find ourselves on the wrong end of a dodgy debt loaded model with huge salaries going to 'consultant' cousins and other vultures.

I think this will prove to be a very dark day for us.
My worst nightmare is a faceless American group of capitalists owning our club.

There’s over 600 billionaires in the US. How many of them are you aware of?

Any owner we have will be a capitalist, so I’m not sure the point you keep making there.

Here's his company, Clear TV Media. They provide streaming content for the TVs in airports and doctors' waiting rooms.

Employees: 110

Revenue: $21 million

I hear what you're saying and I agree with the sentiment, but let's keep our powder dry for now.

For all his faults I think the Prince does genuinely care about us and I don't believe he'd flog us to any old fuckwit just to get rid. I believe that if he is to move us on, he's passing the baton to someone who he believes can take the club forward in a way he can't.

Time will tell whether that turns out to be true or not, I suppose. It could easily transpire that he's seen the dosh and scarpered back to San Francisco to pay off that house he remortgaged. But for now I'm content to believe he has United's interests at heart.

Give it a few days before fearing that we're about to be taken over by The Colonel Ronald McDisney Jr. Venture Capitalist Pharmaceutical Corporation.

I've just given our new lord a 5 star rating on that website. He can thank me later.

It's very difficult to reach that level of wealth and there be little to no information on you on the internet in this day and age.
His company certainly doesn't generate the requisite wealth to make him a billionaire...

The Prince will look after himself.
