Takeover / Preseason?

I love KM ;)

So where does it say there is a stand off between the potential buyer and seller?

What I like about this thread is the lack of support that Coolhand gets for his wild comments about McCabe.

Two years ago there were fans queuing up to vent their anger and such extreme unfounded accusations were voiced by a noisy majority on here with slim support for the owner, maybe 2 or 3 defending the man then.

Sums up human nature and menatlities in good and bad times.

Should we have a difficult next season just watch the pendulum swing back. It did before we won these recent 3 games in fact, even against the manager.

I have never supported the slagging off of the chairman in good or bad times. My agenda and "lack of support" for the poster is based on seeing his obviously libellous/defamatory comments posted on our forum and knowing what repercussions that can have (and did have at Blackpool).

It seems some on this thread are under the misapprehension that promotion to the Premier League would be worth £100m PLUS parachute payments.

It wouldn’t, that figure includes the parachute payments.

I'm happy to be put right, but it's my understanding that a relegated team gets approximately £100m for finishing bottom of the prem, and then over the next three seasons get 55% of the £100m in the first year, 45% the following year and 20% in the third year, providing they don’t win promotion. So at worst it's £220m.

I might be wrong but I think it’s nowhere near £100m odd for finishing bottom of the Prem.

Think it’s something like £34m and then the parachute payments.

If you were right there’s no way even the most inept clubs could spunk that sort of financial cushion away.

Wow, I stand corrected.

How the fook do clubs like Blackburn, Wigan and Bolton end up in the shit though?

Absolutely incredible.

Colossal mis management. Sunderland following suit.

The season they went down, they had a wage bill of about £90m, which at the time was the 21st highest wage bill in world football.

Damn my fat fingers & slow phone lines. :)
Can see where I got the £30m odd from, just astonished at the figures involved.

I just can’t see where all that money goes, even allowing for players taking (not earning) hundreds of thousands a week.

Not in full support of what CHL has to say but ive said many times this season that if Mcabe cannot afford to stick a few quid in when we've got the best manager and chance to get in the prem for years then he needs to sell the club to someone who can.

It's Agents an'all, the amount of money they get from doing Prem deals is obscene. Pogba's agent got paid £20m by Man Utd to do the deal and he gets £3.5m off them a year for the next 5 years. Plus Man Utd paid him another £2.5m on behalf of Pogba for representing Pogba in the deal. That's £40m off Man Utd to the Agent. Liverpool paid Roma £39m for Salah.

I think you’ll find KM agrees. He’s been trying to sell up to the right buyer, very publicly at times, for years.

It’s unbelievable that the agents are making more money than the players.

Also unbelievable that the clubs, FA, and players themselves have allowed it to get to this state.
