I'm entitled to my opinion. I don't see how any manager can be judged after less than half a season with a team that is so woefully out of its depth.
Of course your entitled to your opinion & yes we are so far out of our depth it's laughable. But we need to move away from this blades bladeness, we need a complete reset from top to bottom.

We need to let someone come in with new ideas new formations, maybe sign some wingers, and just maybe try something different

One of the reasons Wilder left last time was because he squandered money on poor signings and the Prince had it out with him over this. Roll on to his second tenure and Wilder signs Grbic and Holgate in January. 'Nuff said really.q

This clubs needs a new recruitment team with new scouts and a director of football. Coming to think of it, it also needs a new owner, a new manager, a new squad, a new long term strategy, a new identity and massive steps to reunite with very pissed off and let down fans.

So not a whole lot really. 😂
Holgate was 100% not his first or second choice but that’s what he got

You are mate, and this is a forum so do just that

However!!
in the first half of relegation season we were shit, CW went, Hecky came in and with the same players made a fist of it, seem to recall his points per game would have kept us up over 38 games

Reverse that, Heckys now shit, CW comes in and we’re the same if not worse, with his 2 meaningful contributions been bringing suspended Holgate and 20 conceded in 5 Grbic

Can anyone actually say things have improved??

We need an absolute rebuild next season. So many seem to think we can rebuild around Osula, Arblaster, Brooks etc. Whilst I really hope they all kick on, it's a huge risk to rely upon them being ready and good enough for a full season of championship football.

I just don't trust our recruitment team to rebuild a whole squad, we struggle to recruit one or two quality additions, to think we can sign maybe 10 players is utterly terrifying.
It's going to be a tough few years in my opinion .
Life at United seems to run in cycles of relative success followed by a tough spell, I suspect our positive period is at an end.

He’s never fit or suspended and doesn’t give a shit
I don't disagree, he's also lazy and the slowest player I've ever seen, at any level of the game.

But he gets in by skin of his teeth because I wouldnt know who to replace him with that can hold the ball up, score goals and occasional win an header and link play and who would be cheap.

He wouldn't be in my starting 11, and would be bench fodder.

We do need a rebuild and a full internal rebuild and restructure but sadly whilst ever we have him that owns us still here then we won't change. He will more than likely try and do it on the cheap again next season hoping to bounce back.

We need mass clear out on players and staff alike.

Surely there are better options out there

You have to bear in mind that we're bottom of the league, it's a difficult market when you're bottom. We have no idea who else wilder wants, we only know who we sign. Yes wilder wanted Holgate it seems, so did Hecky, he got sent off, that was hardly Wilders fault. We don't know Holgate was his first choice however.

We have seen improvement against teams we can compete with. Under Hecky we beat wolves but people were still saying we were crap and we got a lucky pen.

We just aren't good enough. Wilder came in and has played Brooks who had largely done well. It's very early days to judge Grbic too. Maybe Wilder wanted Johansson but we couldn't afford what Rotherham wanted, those wouldn't surprise me either.

Did fans expect a team that had already conceded five goals on a regular basis to suddenly become water tight?! We continue to have injuries that really is a problem. Wilder wouldn't be playing Trusty lb if we had RND fit or Lowe but both got injured and both should be released this summer sadly as both too injury prone, although maybe RND could be given a pay as you play deal.

We know the PL is a ruthless standard and losing becomes a habit. We've seen some decent performances v teams we can compete with as I say. He needs this summer to rebuild the team and I'm confident next season we'll see a very different Sheffield United and one that can compete for promotion.

It is not early days to judge Grbic. He's awful.

Then he shouldn't have bothered and saved some vital wages for next season where they might be spent on someone who'd make a difference.

Luke Thomas. Too crap for Leicester in the Championship. Sent back in January as, funnily enough, he was too crap for us in the Premier League.

Mason Holgate, not good enough for Southampton in the Championship, money given to "relegation rivals" (not that the other 19 teams are really that relevant to us), not 1st or 2nd choice. Luke Thomas mark 2.

Our recruitment is absolutely laughable. We really are a club run by accountants who know nothing about football and can't do the job that they specialise in as we're supposedly skint, despite spending little in the summer.

What a joke we've become from top to bottom. The Prince needs to take what he can now and be gone before the end of the season before we have yet another poor pre-season entering one of the most important seasons in our history.

…and a new set of fans with realistic expectations ?

I’ve not seen anything yet to indicate that he is either awful or good.
Last night he made two decent saves but apart from Saka’s cross through his legs did little else wrong.

How many clubs have said that, replaced the manager and then found that they are worse off ? One or two do find a temporary messiah, but not many.

We sacked Hecky because we had become a laughing stock due to how uncompetitive we were. Looking back they were the good days of this season as we have gotten worse with every game now and 5-0 batterings are a sad expected given. Hecky out, yes. Wilder coming back, big mistake. We need a clear out in the summer including Wilder. He's stubborn and currently as lost and clueless and Hecky. At least under Hecky you could predict the formation and starting line up. Wilder seems to use a tombola every game to decide both at random then come out after the match to say "I got it wrong" as if somehow that makes it alright. He has no idea how to line up and who to play. No wonder the players look lost when every week they're playing with someone different in a new formation and different tactics. There's no consistency other than being humiliated and crap.

This
I don't get how people think we'll be challenging next season, I can see a few years of struggle, chopping and changing till we stumble on our next messiah
But how long will it take?

Personally for me this summer we need the below

GK - Backup
Rb\Rwb - Keep one of Bogle or Baldock
Lwb
Ch x 2
CM
Rw
LW
St x2

So players in total for me maybe a couple of squad fillers too

Dont ask me who for each one as i dont have a clue

Don't forget we need a new training ground

He wanted a defender they gave him one

Just sack the recruitment team off and play the kids, hopefully then we'll end up in league 1 not in-debt

But what do we want from next season....? A return to the Prem without a new owner willing to invest in order to make us competitive (at a minimum) just results in more of what we're going through now......

I really dont have the answer but if we could at least have a season where we win our home games, local derbies and don't get gubbed 5-0 (plus) it would be something of an antidote to this toxic season. We used to enjoy following our team!!!

Last summer's transfer window surely has to go down as the most chaotic and shambolic in the club's history.
  • Selling Ndiaye and Berge for peanuts on the eve of the season, and not replacing them
  • Failing to resign or replace Doyle
  • Failing to sign a new keeper
  • Signing Thomas (gone by January) and Larouci (one of the worst left backs I've ever seen at United)
  • Wasting ~£8m on Traore (gone by January) and Slimane (started 3 games and we're in March)
  • Signing Tom Davies (made his first start of the season in March)
That complete shitshow will be the Prince's legacy.

I was in two minds about him, but he got 14/15 last season? And would be cheaper to retain than replace. He would offer something different coming off the bench.
McWanker will be after a long, lucrative contract and someone will be daft enough to oblige him. Hopefully not us.
