Still no overseas players

Think Erik Tonne scored for us in one of his few outings under Danny Wilson. He then disappeared very quickly.

Ah yes, I think I saw him score for us, thinking about it.

We’ll be in a fabulous position after the inevitable no deal Brexit

If i must say so myself...I think we are doing pretty well without any "foreigners". After all we don't want them taking the British lads jobs do we eh??

I am completely calm. And I know you said "if it is indeed that" .. but you used it to suggest we needed to fix our transfer policy. If it actually didn't exist, there would be no need.

FWIW, I'm all for positive discrimination. And as a white male I'm well aware of my privilege. But while it's something we must always have in mind, I think you're barking up the wrong tree here. Off the top of my head Wilder has fairly recently tried to sign Devante Cole, Britt Assombalonga, Jerome Sinclair and Domingos Quina. All just haven't gone through. The issue with diversity arises when people don't get the opportunities, whether conscious or not (I think, e.g., that the Rooney Rule is very good). It's my strong opinion that Wilder gives everyone the same opportunity, save for our seeming lack of a foreign scouting network meaning we're more reliant on players plying their trade in the UK. And that latter point I'm sure will be fixed.

A good post with points well made, the majority of which i agree with. However you do mention that 'I'm all for positive discrimination'. In my mind it's a complete contradiction. There's no such thing (despite what the media or employment law may state). Discrimination is discrimination in any shape or form. None of it is positive.

I'm of the opinion that the best person, irrespective of their colour, creed, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs (as long as not deemed extreme by general society), should get the job. I dont go in for this 'positive discrimination' to fill a set quota, bullshit.

Going back to Utd and their current payroll, well people who think there is a problem, are just simply wide of the mark. There is no hidden agenda going on, it's just simply a case of United knowing the British market better than the overseas market. I'm sure CW like the vast majority of Unitedites simply doesn't care what colour skin someone has, as long as they can do the job for him better than anyone else within the financial parameters he has to work within.

There's something not quite right about the comments on this and other threads on this subject. We're an above average Championship side at the moment, not Champions league contenders, so any "positives" arising from United's policy, if it is indeed that, are a figment of the imagination. Personally I find it worrying and the departure of Leon leaves us with Goldy as our token contribution to diversity. Whilst some view our present situation as fucking marvellous, I think it sucks really and it needs a root and branch review.

This isn’t a serious post is it? (Woosh?)

And Hogan is from Manchester.

I'm just going on the country they represent.

Is Lavery Canadian or Northen Irish?

I only meant that they're not technical from overseas, even if the countries they play for are.

On another note, were you at The Streets gig the other night by any chance?

Mate, I've no idea what you look like. You have Streets lyrics under your name...

Ah. Been there months pal.

I went to Manchester last Friday, I was away for the Sheffield gig.

Did you go? Any Good? Was a reyt gig in Manc.

Fair enough , was just taking a flyer!

Yeah it was brilliant. Just as good as when I saw them on their 'farewell tour' a few years ago. Glad Manchester was good too.
