Not being racist or owt but it must be great for the dressing room having all British players in the squad (except Lavery). The rivalry between the lads from the 5 nations must be great banter and create a buzzing dressing room.

Has the Irish sea dried up now then?

I presume it comes down to not having a scouting network overseas yet

Wait until after brexit regarding the backstop border issue, it'll be clearer ,hopefully.

And Hogan is from Manchester.

I'm just going on the country they represent.

Is Lavery Canadian or Northen Irish?

I believe he wanted to play internationally for Northern Ireland.

I think its a major reason the team spirit is so good at the Club. If you have many internationals of different cultures and languages, especially when their grasp of English isn't great, then I would imagine that they'll form groups with fellow speakers of the same or similar language - its human nature. Just look across the city and see how many foreigners they have, and they're by in large not better than their British players!

Saying all that, there are some great bargains out there in Europe, but you have to know your stuff. Norwich have done very well through their manager abroad, who clearly knows the German leagues well. Pukki has obviously done very well and he came on a free from Denmark.

Hogan’s à Manc, Goldies a Nottingham lad. Hardly Oirish, plastic paddies.

When bluff Yorkshire lad Mick McCarthy opens his bouche hard to imagine a pint of Guinness.

Can’t think of any more ethnic stereotypes, to be sure

There's something not quite right about the comments on this and other threads on this subject. We're an above average Championship side at the moment, not Champions league contenders, so any "positives" arising from United's policy, if it is indeed that, are a figment of the imagination. Personally I find it worrying and the departure of Leon leaves us with Goldy as our token contribution to diversity. Whilst some view our present situation as fucking marvellous, I think it sucks really and it needs a root and branch review.

What's this policy you're referring to?

I’m sorry, but that’s an absolute nonsense comment.

Who was the last player we signed from a club outside UK and Ireland to make a first team appearance?

Elian Parrino?
