I think as a younger person someone bought me the BBC book he did. I am not sure as even finished it. It was painful reading really and clearly had a lot of artistic licence as those hooligan type books often are. 'We were outnumbered but we took em....' type tales. All about how the BBC had so much respect. However, every hooligan firm of every team says the same thing? Someone must have been crap at fighting amongst them all surely?!

It seems his new book is about his life supporting United but thought a good portion of his United life he was involved in hooliganism/fighting so surely by default it will be about that would it not or does it just not focus on that part of his life as a fan?

Not for me really but some may like it (the book and event) and that is fair enough. I am surprised many players/club officials have kind of backed a venture of someone who is famous for effectively scrapping though? Were they paid or did it just because they know Cowens? I don't know.

The above quote does not do him any favours if he is hoping to sell books Lots of people have died and we have had many Blades lost...message board details one in the last few days. It seems Cowens has done a lot of work for charity to balance things out and it is impressive him getting all the Blades legends together.

I think if it had been a Q and A or an evening with some of the legends then it would have been good but what did the legends actually do? Were they just there? What did the night consist of (apart from a comedian I have never heard of and a bit of food). Genuinely don't know and so maybe I am saying I was not interested in something and it might have had more to offer than it appears?

When his first book came out, I saw Cowens on a panel with Michael Ignatieff and the late Clement Freud at the Hay Festival and I asked him about this and can confirm it’s true.

Enjoyed Steve's two previous books, will buy this one if it is easy to purchase, such as Amazon Kindle. Hope you all had a good night on the book release night.
 
Unless the 'hole in the roof' is a euphemism for wider issues at Shirecliffe then that's simply not true.

I don't see it as a hooligan badge mate , its the red hand of ulster a political symbol used by the loyalist people in Northern Ireland .
And the No surrender is a message to the IRA .

I've met Steve a few times, he was always welcoming and pretty sound. He had a bar in Eckington for a little while which was a little bit naughty and full of characters but sound enough.

He did tell me he can't go into town due to his past and basically that Wednesday are still looking for him. If true he was pretty easy for them to find yesterday at ponds forge 😂😂
