We’ve bid 7 figures for a lad from Malmo, so yes why not?

You have to question why we are so skint given it’s our second season out of the premier league. Not being able to afford a £4m player when Hull offered just shy of that, hmmm.
You don’t have to ask why, it’s been done to death and is pretty obvious to anyone how can reason logically.

Soooo… the lad from Malmo? Why are we bidding for him?

And did you mean who not how?
I dunno, because we’re in desperate need for defensive reinforcements, we think he’s undervalued given their current predicament plus we thought that we may have been able to get it over the line before any big boys came in? Sounds plausible to me.

Are we not in equal desperate need of attacking reinforcements given our best player and a serial match winner has just departed the club?

No, we could do with one, but we have Ndiaye and better options are more likely to be available on loan as we did last season.
“We want to get them in the door and ready for pre season’’ has gone as well as everyone knew it would
You don’t think they wanted to get them in the door early? I do, so it’s an honest comment by both the manager and board.

Don’t say things you can’t keep your word with

They didn’t say they would, they said they wanted to. Given your interest in typos I’d have thought you’d be keen on the difference in their meaning.
Do you think they didn’t want to?
I think if you can’t do it don’t say it

The whole kerfuffle being made about the fact we’ve got a bid in is amateurish as well, who cares? Tell us when it’s accepted.

It all smacks of previous years. We’re learning nothing. Everything we do is so slow.

We can agree on the fact they should say nothing. Too many fans are fucking morons during the transfer window and are completely unrealistic and unreasonable. Look at the Coulibaly response. If I were Betis or Hecky I’d not give any of the interviews to explain what we’re trying to do, it just isn’t worth the effort and has zero benefit.

What do you want them to say?
we are not going to do anything?
we can make no promises?
we will only say anything when the player has signed his contract?

I think the point is in the interview that he gives a bunch of politician non-answers, which are completely fine and just as you'd expect, and then he makes a point of saying, essentially, 'however, we didn't get a good preseason last year and Hecky wants players in early doors to stop that happening again'. This is where they have dropped the ball, it appears.

Correct.

There are also plenty of fucking morons during the transfer window yeah, but equally there’s plenty of people to whom which the club can do no wrong. Equally annoying. It’s important to find that middle ground.

Not sure I’ve seen anyone who doesn’t think the clubs haven’t gone wrong. We’re in the championship having spaffed £100M up the wall.

I mean, there’s plenty that think the club can do no wrong. Naive to think otherwise.

Unfortunately we are in the position of trying to improve a side that was very close to promotion with a limited budget.

To improve the team we have to find 'deals' as players that can improve our team are pretty expensive. Those deals don't arrive until the end of the transfer window when PL clubs are trying to trim their squads after their summer business. When you understand that, you understand we were never in a position to get players in early.

Bettis obviously fell into the trap of trying to say the right thing rather than being straight-forward and candid. With that said, I would rather us patiently find those deals that improve our squad at the right price than panic buy/sign some squad fillers. We don't need anymore Ben Heneghans.

The ‘seven figure sum’ will be a lot closer to £1m than £4m I would imagine. That’s why we’re after the other kid and not Twine at £4m.
It’s been reported at £3m, so who knows?

Also the Twine deal isn’t going to be £4m upfront either. Will be instalments. Lot of it probably dependent on add ins like most transfers are these days.

Ahmedhodzic can also play in midfield and you have been crying that we only have 2 right-footed midfielders (and we can't count Coulibaly, Brunt, Neal, Maguire, Arblaster and Peck).

Pretty much all transfer fees are paid in instalments so that's a moot point.

The only place I've seen £3m mentioned is that he's valued at £3m, therefore a "we tried our best" offer of £1,000,001 from us would be true to form and it ticks the "seven figure sum" box.

Hey everyone, both things can be true! We have a very poor recruitment team who move at a glacial pace and Scott Twine was never a remotely realistic signing for us!

Happy days and no need for arguments.

Oh both points are true don’t get me wrong, it’s the point he isn’t remotely realistic that is crazy as far as I’m concerned. We are really up poo poo creek without a paddle.

I don't like these defenders that can apparently play in midfield. Bash can play in midfield apparently, but only to the same level a dog can play the piano.
