Presentation depends on the audience.
I would wear a suit and tie for some clients and professionals, but not always for others.
As that was an interview for the benefit of supporters generally then I think he got it spot on: casual but not scruffy.
Guess I'm just old school 🤣

I thought he came across well and answered the questions well too.Thought he was straight talking.

Am I alone in becoming obsessed with his left ear? It seemed to have a weird split in it, about 3 inches long. Anyone else notice this???
Ah but is he better looking than Steve Cooper? Some supporters seem to think that the cosmetic appearance of someone being interviewed in football is crucial.

Heckingbottom has alluded to this a bit already.

Hotel was a McCabe project, this said it's proximity to the ground and the city centre is pretty good. There is actually a need for more hotels in Sheffield generally speaking.
Sounds like not only does it need investing, when Bettis mentions the cladding I'm presuming it's not just that it looks a bit worn. It's quite probably in the not safe category after Grenfell.
Definitely not in the Grenfell category as there will be a sprinkler system in it I'd have thought .

Agree!

Got to be honest it never even entered my head to think he should be wearing a suit.
The worlds changed too nowadays, people don't wear suits all the time as well. It doesn't mean you look scruffy or not as professional depending on the attire of course.

The question about whether we are able to sign 'top championship players' was asked very clumsily and basically gave him a way to answer it politically.

It's not a bad interview though and at least he's said something from a business/commercial side of the club. I suspect he'd prefer the Chairman or Owner to have done so but he's the man on the ground so gets all the shitty jobs nowadays.

As ever will all of this, actions speak louder than words.
Did the phrase"hey, there's no bigger Blade than me" get mentioned? Just askin' like.

Sprinklers don't stop fires burning on the outside though. It could still be in the unsafe category.
Looking at some docs cladding only covers 30% of the hotel so less of a problem even if it's combustible like Grenfell s ,could be the problem was the wind damage to the cladding and the council wanting full checks

Wilder gave me many of the very best times I've ever had watching this club. I stayed after he left. Am I a snake too.

I’ve just seen someone on Twitter say he’s a snake because he stayed when Wilder left.

I’ll be honest if my mate leaves our company I wouldn’t be going with him as I still need an income.

Bloody bizarre what goes through peoples minds

Wilder was a colleague, Tindall was his pal.

Twitter people can be very weird.

I noticed that he didn't have a tie on and looked generally scruffy, sorry guys, presentation is a big thing for me, he is our CEO ffs!

Other than that, he mentioned we had already put bids on the table for a couple of players, does that mean the usual "ten bob" knowing it will be rejected out of hand ? CW always said he likes to get his transfer business done early, but he never got his way! nor will Heck'y

On a positive note, I think we will be fine next season complete with a few last minute signings/loans.
"The usual ten bob." Freeman, C.Robinson, Mousset, Berge, Mcburnie, Bogle, Lowe, Brewster and Ramsdale off the top of my head. Over £100 million on those alone. We really need to get away from this boring, repetitive narrative that the club doesn't spend money.

I’ve also seen he’s a snake for bringing in his pal Tindall. He used his resources to bring in a good coach, look at the job he’s contributed towards at Bournemouth & Newcastle. If anything he pulled off a bit of a coup in getting him in

Everybody has a price. It is not ridiculous to say that he didn't want to sell Ramsdale up until the point Arsenal stopped fucking around and made an offer we would be daft to refuse.

Ramsdale also wanted away and at one point refused to play.

Ha ha Sssssstephen 🐍 🐍 🐍 Bettisssssss 🐍 🐍 🐍

Am I right lads ha ha ha

THERES ONLY ONE CHRISSY WILDER!!! 😎 😎 😎

Yep. We just need a chairman who thinks “to fuck with FFP” and he’ll be a great coach. Good looking lad as well.

Maybe you misread my "wot I wrote" I was alluding too initially offering a very low bid, which was not even going to be considered by the selling club,
I realise that is a business negotiating tactic but ultimately it delays the process into late in the transfer window, often a few days before the season begins, which means the said player doesn't have much time to sort out accommodation, moving his family or not, adjusting to a new city & club,
then being ready and up to speed with his new colleagues, it's a big challenge for anyone - that was my main point, doing business late in the transfer window, I wasn't talking about the quality of the players - that's a whole different debate and has been done to death!

It’s a decent interview and good the club are communicating with the fans, well done United
Credit where it is due. Let me get that bit out of the way first!

What I don't get is why there isn't more frequent communication. It's like we only hear something when it's births (new signings), deaths (manager sackings) and Bar mitzvahs (sorry run out!).

At least every quarter it wouldn't kill them to update on key items.

I do think they let him off on the questioning regarding the training ground. New pitches, great. New gym, great. But wasn't the whole training ground question more around the move to a new one which could set us up for Academy Top Tier status? I didn't hear anything on that? It seems we were keen on Norton, but that might have died a death, though none of this was updated by the club.

I'd like to hear a bit more of the strategic vision rather than just answering the bare minimum, welcome as it may be, belatedly.

Damned if they do damned if they don't scenario in some respect. And that's not a dig at you in any way.

In this regard, Bettis only answered what he was asked. Was it Giddings doing the questions? He could have pushed it further but I suppose there's only limited time and Bettis would only answer what he wanted to anyway. We shouldn't be grateful for these scraps and be happy with them, granted, but I get your point as well.

I guess that the interview is only given if certain questions are not asked

Little point in the interview other than asking about training pitches because he has to say that there both is and is not money to spend, which he did.

Going into a transfer window it is not strategically helpful to say you are going to throw money around any more than it is to say you haven't got any.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating, which will be

a) How many targets did we miss out on and what were the reasons (as fans we will have an idea but will never really know until well after the fact)

b) Are the targets we land more hit than miss, and recent history is very much against us here (our last good permanent signing was 4 transfer windows ago)
