I wouldn't be at all surprised if the next manager decides to cash in on Scougall.
If we want to add height and strength to the midfield and probably play two strikers in a 4-4-2, where does he fit in?
Baxter would be another obvious one to sell for the same reason but we can't sell him now.

Rather Scougall than Reed.

Loan out Scougal & Baxter for this season since neither of them make an impression in this agricultural Division .....

Well, if this media copy and paste from twitter works, you can see his summer training ritual is going really well

and yes, it is Scougs - it's not a little kid on a box of Swan Vesta

Not exactly the most sensible thing to be doing whilst you are nursing a hamstring injury....!!

Based on this season he can go for me, if he learns how to strike a ball properly then maybe he can stay.

Don't know if it's just striking a ball David, needs to pull his socks up and get back to the form that he showed when he first came. Certainly wouldn't want to see the back of him, I'm sure there is plenty more to come from the lad yet.

Only one place for Scoogs to play in a 4-4-2, namely in the middle alongside Basham or a fit Wallace (J). And personally I'd like to see him given a chance there.

Personally I can't see a place for SS in the side - he is too small and lightweight to play in central midfield and not creative or clinical enough to play up front or off a target man. Whilst he had his fair share of injuries last season I can't think of a single game in which he impressed and his goal total is almost laughable for someone in his position.

I suspect a move back to the Scottish Champ is on the horizon.

Scottish Championship?! English Championship maybe.

He's been written off far too quickly. He won't be the first nor the last player to suffer from second season syndrome.

I tend to agree that I'm struggling to find a place for Scoogs, or Baxter, (drug ban depending) for that matter. I may get shot down in flames for this but I think our best player next year will be Coutts playing a dominant role in the centre of the park. As Adkins favours a 4-4-2 with flying wingers there is really only one place up for grabs in midfield and plenty of options to chose from. Reid (if we need a more attacking shape) and Basham (defensive shape) would be ahead of Scoogs and Baxter plus there's Dom Calvert-Lewin, Connor Dimaio and Otis Khan pushing through plus Wallace (x2) and Cuvelier.

The wing positions will also be interesting, neither Murphy or Flynn are blessed with electric pace so their places may not be guaranteed either!

I expect quite a few "outs" over the coming few weeks as Nigel evaluates the squad before deciding which areas need addressing. If offers come in for Scoogs I think he will go and dare I say Flynn and maybe even Murphy too, (although it would have to be a bloody good one!).

I would be happy with Basham at Centre Half and I think Adkins being an ex-goalie will make a quick call on the Number 1 shirt. Thereafter it's another centre back, (unless he puts his faith in Collins alongside Bash with Harrison as cover) full-backs are fine and I personally don't think we need anyone up front because if we are playing attacking football and the strikers just concentrate on scoring goals Che, Done, McNulty & Diego (if he signs) are more than capable.

Midfield, despite us having a plethora of options, will be Adkins biggest headache.

I agree Torrix and despite him being thrown in at the deep end having hardly played for >12 months (which on several occasions was obvious to all) I could see the qualities that Coutts possesses. Given a full pre-season, I think he and Basham could form a good partnership. If J Wallace were able to do the same (although by the sounds of it that is unlikely) and Reed too it would make for a fairly formidable central midfield.

I still think that a more physical striker is required - COG would be great due to his mobility although I must admit to being far more impressed than expected by Davies). I think both would look better if played alongside with a striking partner (which would most probably also suit McNulty and even Higdon should he be able to get himself fit enough for contention) with Done being the obvious candidate to be partner and Adams being able to change games from the bench.

For me, at least 2 x CDs are the top priority (3 if Kennedy is a (very unfortunate) write-off), followed by a striker, central midfielder (if Wallace is unable to make it back), GK and a right sided player (assuming that Adams can't play there - I've never been convinced by Flynn and actually think he's a better RB than RM) are required to have a squad capable of winning it (assuming that no key players leave).

That leaves quite a few able to be binned/moved on/sold as per their contracts and desirability dictates inc. Long, Alcock, McGahey, McEverley, Scougall, Baxter, McNulty and Higdon all surplus to requirements.

Can't sell Long, he put in a MOTM performance in the first leg against Rangers.

Season on loan seems to have toughened him up.

Get shot of Howard, keep Long and Willis who - as I keep saying, and I hope NA as a former goalkeeper can see the same – will be the long-term answer.

I suppose it's a possibility with us needing to cut the squad down quite drastically. He's not exactly setting the world on fire unlike his first few games, and maybe a little too lightweight in this league. If so, all the best to him.

Not being funny, but who the fuck is Alex Scougall?

He's our Scougall's brother but do we know this tweet is related to Stefan ?

Did he get 2 siblings worth of height genes, or is the 'BigScougs' mere irony?

If he is tall, I wonder if he can play centre half?

Here's hoping. Too small, too weak, and doesn't have anywhere near the talent he'd have to have to compensate for that.
