Outgoing? Stefan Scougall

We all understand the situation I think, god, we had enough experience in these things, more than most clubs recently as well with Naughton and Walker being the watershed sales in my opinion.

You can say we won with jordan slew and nick blackman but even then, what would they have done here had they stayed?

So if I can have one wish, just one...

Please if we have to sell, can we have the going rate...

If chelsea with the premier league money want harry maguire and he wants to leave, let him go, he's not property he's a human being..

But we will be selling the future of our club short in this process because we will obviously suffer in results should he leave, so chelsea should be paying a cost akin to how much we would suffer due to the loss, a year in league 1 as opposed to championship costs how much, this should be reflected in the sale value of the deal..

We always were a selling club, but we don't have to be, so if a player wants out, we need the full whack..

As for scougall.....Everton can F##k off, we've only had him 2 minutes, and those at everton need to be shown we don't have to give away internationals for buttons anymore...

Firstly, all this talk of Maguire being linked to Prem clubs tends to become contagious, the word spreads like wildfire and before anyone knows it we're letting go of Harry any time soon.

Well Brian the Blade said on Football Heaven last night that we'd turned down £7m for 'arry, so that's good enough for me.:D

Yes graf, Brian is not only someone I suspect qualifies for the title of missing link, he's connected in ways that would make Mystic Meg seem like a clairvoyant. I doubt £7m would be enough to keep Brian away from the airwaves, the whiff of celebrity has obviously convinced him he has a worthwhile contribution to make...a bit like Moses on Mount Sinai receiving the ten commandments, but in Brian's case it's other worldly voices giving him the inside gen.

Stoke/Norwich !?!??!?
Bruno said Chelskie/Manure!!!

Harry is my favourite!

Should we be worried...

Deila is also plotting a swoop to land Sheffield United's Scotland Under-21 star Stefan Scougall. (Various)

The amount of names James Shield links us with on a daily basis and have never arrived I will take this with a pinch of salt. Until I read "Skysports believes Celtic are closing in"........that's when you know they are gone.

Champions League football is a big draw, Is he Catholic and grew up supporting Celtic?

If this is serious then there would be really nothing we could do and he would be off, just hope that its a bored jounalist putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5

No,hes a massive rangers fan zablade and this was the reason when someone told me about this last weak i thought it was bull shit and was never going to materialise, but it now looks like it has a chance of happening, ffs. If we lose him then that would be a bigger loss then if we lose harry imo.

Nothing we could do to keep a player with another 3 years left on his contract?
Without so much as a hint of the fee Celtic might be willing to offer us?
Let's just give them Scougall for £100K and chuck in Murphy to sweeten the deal.
Nothing we can do...etc.

Let's hope the club shows a bit more backbone if we do receive an offer.

If there's genuinely nothing a club can do to keep a player who wants to be off, why haven't we signed The Beard yet?

Indignant of Tunbridge Wells

6 months into a new contract + no longer a selling club = 1 big transfer fee that would put celtic off surely... if there's any substance to this rumour that is

UTB!!

We might not be spending the princes millions just yet but anybody can see the investment is there as we are not longer selling players for next to nothing any more. If Celtic do want scoogs, then they must show us the money!!

UTB!!

This shows how much of a shithouse club we've been over the last decade: Fans still lack the basic faith in our ability to hold onto a player even with 3 years on their contract. :(

Cool your piss, chaps. Here's how it works in 2014 at Bramall Lane. Every player has their price but that price is decided by Nigel Clough and, thanks to HRH, it will pretty much equal the player's worth. That's it.

I doubt Scooooogs would go for any less than £3m. We also probably have more Scottish players than Celtic do.

Can't see this one happening, if it was next pre season and we are still in League One then different story.

Actually I am surprised no one has come in and enquired for Murphy, he was our best player since Xmas.

That reet fella ?

OK try this.

Let's just assume that the Celts DO come in with a £1m offer. This would come with a salary package of £12k to £15k PW for the player on a 3 to 5 year contract.

His wage at bdtbl is ( guessing) in the order of no more than £2k PW. I believe it will be less than this but let's go with this figure.

Using these figures as something like it makes GOOD sense for all to part ways and this is ultimately what will happen. Scougall is not irreplaceable and we can not pay £12k + for any one player and certainly not one who shows promise but is, ultimately, not proven.

Such is the reality for any L1 club INCLUDING ours.

Time will tell on this one. If the interest is genuine, I believe he will be gone.

It doesn't matter what wages they can pay ....... he is OUR player on a 3 yr contract and therefore IF they want permission to talk to him then they will have to agree a fee with us before they can offer him £12 kpw or whatever.

We are no longer a selling Club ....... the Board tell us !!!! So IF that is true, the answer to Mr. Hoopy breeches would be something along the lines of ....... you have not met our valuation !!!! Begin talking to us at around £4m and we will answer your phone call and start negotiations. If you are not starting at that figure then very respectfully F**K OFF !!

That's how the conversation should go ........

In a fair and equitable world that is exactly how the conversation should go.

But the moment that the player turns round and says "You know that offer you have had for me ...." Knowing full well that what this would mean is an offer to increase his wages by a factor of about 6 and play in the SPL and ECL then that is where fair and equitable goes right out the window.

Celtic are a bigger pull than we are - fact.

Bigger clubs have always and will always dictate. This is nothing new.

Celtic didn't play at Wembley in an fa cup semi and scoogs scored a great goal in front of over 30k adoring fans , It would take a lot for Celtic to attract him more than that.

His wages are not our concern. He's ours for 3 years. But like you say, if it makes good sense for all to part ways, then it will be Nige that will have decided their bid matches his worth. You know, the way it used to be.
