Going on the OP.

WTF are you on? It's the managers 4th game in charge and because he didn't bow down to your greater character, you've gone and slated him 3 times.

When did you become a Football Manager? He, like the rest of us, was probably scratching his head asking "How did we not win that?"
He said " He's never seen a match like that, ever" He's a seasoned pro pal, that's over 25 years of experience talking there.
It speaks volumes that the FA haven't got involved. Any other manager criticising the Referee as he did would have got a touch-line ban, the FA have done nothing.

Speed will be here for the next 3 seasons so give him at least 2 years to get his team playing the game that he's been playing for 20 years. He's got a good character and great contacts. Give the guy time.

Ah, there you have the crux of the matter. What to do on a Saturday afternoon, Ched or Shed?

Personally, I'm going to watch United, and win, lose or draw I'm going to be posting all manner of stuff about something I haven't seen in the flesh on this fantastic forum. No, not www.s24su.com, but this one. Now, normally I'd do one of those swanky linky doodads, but here's the full t'interweb address.

http://www.shedblog.co.uk/sf-forum/

Yes, that's right, a shed forum. In fact it just might be the shed forum. I'm going to go and watch a football match, and regardless of how my team fare, if we get spanked by Portsmouth like an altar boy in St. Scrotum's Church of the Blessed Away Shirt or if we beat them out of sight I'll be posting about how the staff in B&Q are totally clueless and I'm not going back until they let me have a ride on one of those snazzy cherry-picker thingies they like to tool around on. I haven't been to B&Q for ages actually, nor have I ever built a shed, but those cheeky monkeys on shedblog aren't going to know what's hit them come half six tomorrow night.

Alternatively, if the nice chaps on shedblog want to come and post on here about a match they've not seen then fair play to them. I've never actually met any of them, but if you post on shedblog then you can't be anything but a nice chap, can you? Could you imagine a cad like that baddie Terry-Thomas always played building a shed? Did Dick Dastardly ever build a shed? No, he bloody didn't. He just bullied that nice Muttley, the bounder.

**NOTE**
To all prospective shoppers in B&Q tomorrow afternoon.

If there's any left, please buy some of their charcoal. It's fucking ace, and that's official.:D I cannot vouch for the quality of their sheds, but by this time tomorrow someone here will be able to tell you all you need to know. Or just pop over to shedblog and ask one of the nice chaps there. They're all nice chaps at shedblog. Tell them SV sent you.......

Its so good to have you back.

Totally agree, though I try to put it more conservatively myself :)

There is nothing wrong with a bit of banter and disagreement but it does get taken too far on here. Indeed I dont even mind people who post tongue in cheek stuff to get a reaction but it brings about aggressive response which is totally uncalled for.

As Linz often says people need to learn to play nice and respect other opinions. I totally understand people who take sabbaticals on here, because it gets way too personal. I dont tend to get as wound up by provocation but that can be hard for some people.

What ever happened to a bit of light hearted discussion? The knocker/clapper thing is fine for me I find it quite entertaining but it has gone beyond that for people on both sides of the fence. Shame.

No, I'm not having a baby. Both Foxy and I have new jobs and we're working on some Blades stuff in the background that will hopefully be beneficial to all.

We have always wanted this place to run itself and just because we aren't around, things shouldn't resort to this level of hostility. Lots of people are getting very close to a ban because they seem to think that we're pissing about when we say "play nicely or not at all". We aren't.

Just because Foxy and I aren't here doesn't mean we won't tidy up when we get back. So infractions have been issued and warnings to posters who won't go along with the ethos of debating opinions with respect for each other will be sent out later. No doubt I will get some peoples' backs up because they seem to think that the rules don't apply to them and if that's the way they take it, they will be invited to leave the forum.

The key for me with the midweek result is that we learn from it. Sure it was crap. But we need to address the issues and move on.

Thats Speedo's job

So, to answer the question I posed earlier, Ched or Shed? How many goals did the shed score today? I have no idea, I was at Bramall Lane. Ched managed to get one, in a pinball stylie.

Come on SV its a new thread. get it started, I could not stop laughing all the way home in anticipation.

olle.. you're losing the plot mate.. you also predicted us to lose today which is something i'd never do even when hoofy was in charge (are you still a fan?).. micalijo.. i said we'd win.. what happened to four nil?

Back to the point of the post. I have been worried that speedo is just a blackwell mark ll and today has convinced me more. It was a typical blackwell victory when fans will have walked away from Bramall Lane not as happy as they should be. All three victories under speed are just blackwell all over in fact it is funny that during the 09/10 season we beat Derby at pride park 1-0 with an early goal and Preston 1-0 with a late goal both similar performances. Then today we were outplayed in parts by a better side then came away with a win thanks to a great goalkeeping performance. We might be playing slightly better football at times but we are heading in the same direct as under blackwell which is nowhere and i don't think we have gained a great deal in getting rid. Our squad is miles away from challenging for promotion and if morgan is out for a while we may have a problem.

A truly great post Dave. Totally agree.

Not sure what you are on about. I predicted 2-0 win for Pompey, and from what I saw they deserved at least that.

Ha ha ha ha ha I totally agree, some really do get carried away with arguing. Have once or twice myself but now I try to run around block a few times with an orthopaedic shoe on. Much more fun.

So, if I understand correctly, the fact that your prediction is wrong doesn't really count because from what you saw, Pompey deserved to win.

And more than that, we scored but apparently didn't deserve to.......

No wonder you agree with davidpinder, who's making a belated attempt to take Olle's attention seeking crown.

Oreit SV gloves are off I see :D well a shed scored too (300 bastard quid it cost me) so I guess it was 1-1.

I'm wondering what would have been worse, 100 quid and a sore head to watch Blackwells team grind out a result, or 300 quid and the afternoon in B&Q

Spot on Davey boy. I'm worried that Speed can only grind out wins with Blackwell like performancess. But perahps this is because of the shite KB left behind. Speed has tried to play a little, but we've been well beaten. The more worrying things for me is that Speed keeps playing Monty, plays 4-5-1 at home, plays 3 defensive mdifielders, sticks with teams that are not performing, refuses to make changes in personnel/tactics and can't accept defeat graciously. These are all KB traits.

He got out of jail today with a deflected free kick (our only shot on goal) and a great goalkeeping performance (it's about time he bucked his ideas up). Still, 3 points is 3 points and if we want to avoid the drop we need to grind results out against poor teams. It goes back to this question about results vs performances. I didn't buy into it, as I think they come hand in hand. However Speed (like KB) chose the result today.

So, if I understand correctly, the fact that your prediction is wrong doesn't really count because from what you saw, Pompey deserved to win.

Come on Trig, try to be objectivist.

£300 quid? Bloody hell!

You're right, it is Blackwell's team in as much as the majority of the players were signed by him, but at least they are trying to play Speed's way. There's a way to go yet, but they are getting there. I think there might be a little exaggeration at £100 though - thirty quid average for a ticket still leaves seventy quid for ale and pies. I'm grateful I don't have to pay for your beer every match, I'd need to rob a bank.:D

Any road, I do think theings are getting better but as has been stated elsewhere this will be a transitional season like no other. I know we need knew players too, but as I've said elsewhere these aren't easy to come by or to sign. We're unlikely to be in a relegation battle this season as much as we're unlikely to have a promotion push. We'll have to see what extra loans we can get and what happens in January.

And having looked at shed prices recently, £300 doesn't get much. It's not just creative midfielders than don't come cheap, home improvement's a bugger on the wallet too. Have you been on www.shedblog.co.uk yet?

I am not trying to take anyone's crown trig, Just putting my views forward and calling it as i see it the results we are getting are just like the one's under blackwell and the timing of the goals in the Derby and Preston games are quite scarily close to the 09/10 season.

I'll be interested to see if Speed has learnt from his mistakes and how he apporaches the next 2 games. Speed played essentially the same team and formation yesterday, which suggested to me he hadn't learnt from his mistakes. However he did (finally) try to mix things up and play 4-4-2 yesterday.

I'm intrigued to see how he approaches going to Elland Road. Does he stick with 4-5-1 and 3 defensive midfielders (despite mixed performances) and try to grind out results (Blackwell style). Or does he play 4-4-2 and risk getting pasted. Does he play like yesterday and grind out results (like his old boss) or try to play some football and risk getting another 4 put past us. Is it worth risking getting hammered, to take the points. Or should he play safe (Blackwell style). This has to be a real dilemma for Speed. He clearly wants to play, but seems to be in 2 minds. He's tried to get them passing, but seems to have realised his team are not up to exciting, flowing football and yesterday opted for grinding down.

So how much of a chip of the old block is Speedo? Time will tell, but he certainly seems to be a big one. Perhaps Speed had more to do with tactics when KB was manager and that is worrying. Or perhaps he has just learnt bad habbits of his old boss. Blackie seemed to pick up all NW's bad habbits (without the good one's) so I'm praying GS hasn't picked up Blackwell's.

I got a reit deal. It's even got a Chinese satalitte dish in that I can watch the Blades games on. Was just in the process of inspecting the model shed when someone knocked in a 25 yard pea roller. Our lass was bothering me and I only just caught it. I could have swore it was Evans, but figured it must have been the poor reception distorting things.

Promblem is I've got to put the bugger up. Should take me the next several Saturday afternoons (unless Blackwells wife gets her P45 and I might pop back to the Lane) :D

I don't think speedo has a big enough pair to play anything but 4-5-1 he will play for a draw and we will either get it or be on end of a 1 or 2 nil defeat. I am guessing this because thats what blackwell would do.

Is that a cunning analogy to cheap as chips and cheap mark II Houso??? (Jean Luc Picard and -his chip off the old block - captain Rikaird)

Our last away game would suggest otherwise or do we just gloss over that for effect ?

No not at all blackwell would have gone for a 1-0 win at Derby, oh sorry he did that and we got it as did speed. Can't see him risking anything other than 4-5-1 against weeds hoping to get a draw.

As far as Speed being a "chip off the old block".....Ched seems to disagree;

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6389787,00.html

doesnt really say a lot. of course he is going to say positive things about his new manager. Would you sklag your boss of in the Star??! It's more of a dig at Blackwell. Fair enough though in one aspect he is different. Blackwell showed no confidence is Ched, where as Speed see's something that almost everyone else to do with SUFC can't!?

Is that an admission that you were in agreement with Blackwell over something?

;)

I wonder on here if anyone has any Garden wood preservative they may have spare? maybe they want to keep it for themselves because it appears they want nothing to change so they can be proved right?

Am I to gather from this that you didn't see the game, read the reports, see how we lined up and played, the game stats etc etc, you just looked at the result ?

Sorry DP, but this is just moaning for the sake of it, the football in the last few games is streets ahead of anything served up by Blackwell in the last 12 months and you also fail to acknowledge that Speed is doing it with Blackwell's team, not his own.
