LutonNo, they haven’t. That’s not the argument, that’s down to recruitment failures. But show me a successful team in England packed full of the old bulldog spirit.

I’m pretty sure they have more overseas players than us. Plus, they are successfully getting relegated alongside us.Luton
But they have been promoted through several leagues, certainly the last two, whilst not having the best players individually but relying on organisation, effort and team spirit. Which in my view is very commendable.I’m pretty sure they have more overseas players than us. Plus, they are successfully getting relegated alongside us.
They’ve done fantastically well and I’m certainly not dissing them. But I don’t expect them to sustain it in the longer term. But they have been promoted through several leagues, certainly the last two, whilst not having the best players individually but relying on organisation, effort and team spirit. To label a team who have gone from non-league to the premier league as unsuccessful just because they are now in the bottom three is not only unfair but lacking perspective.
Jeez that’s rich coming from youIt’s a myth - the club isn’t remotely based on this. Hardly any of our managers have been local - it just so happens that the few we’ve had have actually been up there with the most successful, which really doesn’t back your point.
The fans absolutely loved Ndiaye, Gibbs White, Doyle, Macatee, Currie, Woodward. Again, it’s a total myth that they don’t respect quality footballers. It also happens that they respect graft, and footballers with heart. It would be the same everywhere.
The only ethos that needs to change is some of our fans perception of their own fans.
I don’t think anyone could have foreseen his injury problemsSo far???!!!!
He's been here 4 years and scored 2 goals I think. He looks lost when he does play.
The initial comment was about ‘wilder legacy issues’. Brewster is one of those. A financial burden with no reward. Not paying the fee was. Which was while Wilder wasn’t here.
Okay I’ll bite - explain?Jeez that’s rich coming from you
As opposed to the other strategies that do bring sustained success...We are not unique. But it rarely ever brings sustained success. Arteta is looking a bit of an outlier in that respect, but he learned from Pep.
Hurray!! More sense!!Please give over with this 'Blades culture'
it's about 20 years out of date..
Football has moved on and unfortunately unless we change our mindset we will be even more left behind than we are now.
Yes we badly need a new owner but when one does come along we need to change the whole ethos of the club.
Maybe this is even what is putting off potential buyers..
Racist I’m the farthest thing from it and you took it way out of proportion.Okay I’ll bite - explain?
Because obviously even you can’t be stupid enough to link it to me picking up on the odd moron using racist slurs?
That's only because of poor recruitment though.I was one of the many banging the drum saying we were missing a beat by not exploring the foreign market enough
However.... I'm now starting to accept the reality that we are a working mans club, not a glamour club and perhaps we do just click better when we focus on signings from within these shores.
I purposefully didn’t point anything towards you when I started that thread. You’re the only one who’s made it personal.Racist I’m the farthest thing from it and you took it way out of proportion.
Even though we are all invisible on here my outlook on you even though you won’t give a shit has changed .
We don’t need anything from Sheffield, any ethos, or change or ethos - we (and every other also ran) need shit loads more money.Hurray!! More sense!!
There is no Sheff Utd way! Doesn’t exist, has in the past, but what we are currently experiencing is what some of you may call the Sheff Utd way!
It consists of all the good and the bad and the stuff inbetween for years.
I would love to see a completely different culture to our club that brings us up to date with the progressive clubs now established in the prem.
We don’t need a Sheffield manager a Sheffield chairman and a Sheffield captain anymore.
Move with the times cuz it’s like watching semi professional football watching Sheffield united
Should Souza be on the team sheet ?He isn’t a racist. But he seems to mistrust any players who don’t exhibit “English character”. Which is laughable, because the English are perennial losers.
No.Should Souza be on the team sheet ?
There’s plenty we could do differently. We could invest more time and money into scouting, for instance, so we have a better chance of uncovering rough diamonds in the domestic and foreign leagues. We could develop players for eventual sale (let’s be honest, like most clubs, we’re always going to sell to bigger, richer clubs) but whilst doing so, have some succession planning in place so we’ve got the replacements coming through, rather than having to react at the last minute.Hurray!! More sense!!

We,ll leave it at that but I you know who has goneI purposefully didn’t point anything towards you when I started that thread. You’re the only one who’s made it personal.
I’m fairly sure Brentford’s owners have spent a fortune. They spend very large sums on recruitment. There’s plenty we could do differently. We could explore alternative revenue streams at the ground, like getting decent catering.
Not everything has to cost a fortune. It seems we often spoil the ship for a ha’porth of tar; instead of planning properly and investing some money into making sure we’re set for the future, we lurch from crisis to crisis and any success we find along the way seems to take us by surprise.
It’s small-minded parochial thinking. Why can Brentford get it right and we can’t?
I think spell check has got you there fella (happens to us all) - can you reword it?We,ll leave it at that but I you know who has gone
We,ll leave it at that but until you know who has gone I’ll be simmering.I think spell check has got you there fella (happens to us all) - can you reword it?
Do you want another go? (I’m only having fun here, but I still don’t get it!We,ll leave it at that but until you know who has gone I’ll be simmering.
Fair point. But I’m sure we could actually do better than we do with some degree of analytics-based scouting and recruitment, especially if we’re looking for players who will fit into a specific system.I’m fairly sure Brentford’s owners have spent a fortune. I believe we’re trying to do that - but so (probably) are everyone - to be better than the rest costs lots of money.Fair point. But I’m sure we could actually do better than we do with some degree of analytics-based scouting and recruitment, especially if we’re looking for players who will fit into a specific system.
I don’t think we necessarily need to be better than the rest. Getting close to being able to compete would be a start.I believe we’re trying to do that - but so (probably) are everyone - to be better than the rest costs lots of money.
He will never play for Brazil, well maybe the U12's?I think when Wilder first arrived it seemed like he thought he could get tune out of Souza but bar that impressive performance away at Luton he couldn't get much out of him.
Since then Wilder has given up on him and it's not helped with what Souza has said in the press. Even though Souza had been asked the question about the Brazil team, he should have not answered it at all really.
So you'd be happy watching City the faceless team of the century just to get some Glory? Not me!Hurray!! More sense!!

Works???We signed Grbic.
Our foreign transfer policy has been arguably the worst in all of World football. Burnley sign good foreign players so it works.
