Shirt Sponsor

Prefer the shirt without a sponsor, as do most.

Most clubs have started selling both variations, why don't we put the sponsorless shirt on sale, and then update stock with sponsored versions for those who wish to wait.

How many shirts do you think we will sell, and how much profit do you think the club makes on each one?
Don't know the answer to either of those questions. I do know however that even 1 shirt sold will make the club more money than its made currently on shirt sales.

Not sure if it’s just this kit, but I think I might prefer it with the sponsor. I don’t like it as it is

Think people need to cut the club some slack here.

Roma and Inters sponsors last season went bust and Inter only just confirmed paramount a short while back.. Chelsea still don’t have a sponsor to my knowledge. Burnley couldn’t find a sponsor when they got relegated hence classic football shirts paying an insanely low amount for the shirt sponsorship. Read that TeamViewer have been trying to get out of their man Utd contract too.

Randox deal was cut short so the club weren’t looking months in advance when they usually would have been..

Betting companies are the obvious one but
1. We don’t want them as a club
2. Do we really want them as fans?
3. The incoming rule which means they’re banned will also mean they’re likely to be hesitant about entering any such arrangement anyway.

It’s frustrating as it’s what is holding up the kit release but is what it is, the bubble has burst on sponsorships I think and clubs are having to readjust what and who they’re asking to accommodate this.

Re the sponsor too it’s worth people understanding that it’s unlikely to be Errea responsible for the sponsorship application in this instance.Very possible the shirts are in our hands and will be outsourced to a more local co for the application process once it’s decided.. not gospel this but I’d imagine what is happening on that front, just Incase they peel off and you want to blame Errea for it.

Good post.

"Seven clubs will have gambling companies as their main shirt sponsor – namely Aston Villa, AFC Bournemouth, Brentford, Burnley, Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United – while Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers will carry logos on the shirt sleeves."

Bear in mind the above make up the majority of the non-big teams (who can get sponsored by Emirates, Etihad, dubious Saudi events company Sela etc.) - so if we exclude gambling then it will be tougher to find someone. Think Forest are also waiting on a sponsor too.

Not something I'm particularly panicked about. Obviously would be nice to have a lucrative deal, but if worse comes to worst plain shirts look good anyway or we could choose a charity.

Rotherham have gone with Rotherham Hospice which is a nice community touch https://www.rotherhamhospice.org.uk/rotherham-united-fc-proudly-support-the-hospice

Even at £1milion per season there arent many local companies left that have the profit to do so SIG are HQd in Sheffield but are based all over. Similarly with Sheffield Forgemasters and other steel exporters. Be good to have a local company though.

Just perhaps the delay in shirt sponsorship is due to an impending announcement of the sale of the club. It would be unusual for a new owner to promote there brand through shirt sponsorship as a way of investing money into the club or it just maybe that the potential new owners wouldn't want sponsorship that undermines thier own brand or values..just a thought

Cant understand anyone wanting a shirt with a sponsor unless you got it for nowt ... after all its advertising .. why pay for the privilege?

Because that’s what the sponsor is paying 6m a season for. The brand to be advertised as much as possible which includes fans shirts

Chat goes further...

Arr Darren knows nowt. He “believes” but doesn’t know there’s a sponsor, and ffs there’s always paperwork in a commercial agreement. Telling us nothing. Would it not be simpler for an official club spokesperson to just say, they’re negotiating with x parties and they hope to make an announcement in y days?

It's going to be something shit that turns out to be linked to some sort of criminal activity, so I wouldn't bother worrying about it too much.

It's August second. We don't have a shirt sponsor. We are a club that is really struggling to pay bills, unlike Chelsea and Forest.

Sorting out a shirt sponsor really can't be that difficult a process.

As per your comment on the morality of the firm, I couldn't give a toss if we were sponsored by Epstein Island.
You might not be but I certainly would.
