Hmm, not a great first half.
I think it was a real shame that Seriki was injured. We're playing slowish wingers, and they need full backs overlapping and supporting. Gilchrist looks limited offensively to me, and Hampson's game will be affected by that.
Our left hand side has been ineffective. Trusty is still hesitant on the ball. Looks up, sees a man available, dallies while that man gets marked, then passes to Boyes who's also getting closed down. A couple of things didn't come off for Boyes early on, and it's affected his confidence, so he's gone into youngster mode where he just picks the safe option when he can. Coulibaly had a nightmare half, painful to look at. A couple of early mistakes, and he's just unable to regain confidence and composure. I wanted to see more from him after that Tottenham match, and if we had given him some more playing time after that - and then had witnessed tonight's first half performance we could have made a different decision, rather than holding on to him, even extending his contract. Slimane hasn't been at his best either. He's too slow to play as a wide man unless he's got loads of movement and pace around him. Buyabu may have been a better choice at left back tonight.
Peck's been good and Souttar too. Brewster with a couple of decent hits, but again fails to find the net.
