We would really benefit from a strong performance vs an early pacesetter to settle some nerves (mine included), after a few iffy performances.
Watford are 100% so far, but look a little closer and you realise they certainly can be got at. They threw away a 2-0 lead at Millwall in their first game (sounds familiar), before grabbing a winner late on, and still could have dropped to a draw after that in injury time. A 3-0 win over Stoke looks good on paper, but Stoke only have a scrappy win over Coventry to show for themselves (league cup thrashing of Middlesbrough not withstanding). They then won 2-1 vs Derby, but went behind early, and then struggled to create many openings before scraping through for the win.
Cleverley has had a decent start so far, but that has to be tempered by the opposition they have faced. I'd like to see us assume control early, and force them on the back foot. After the QPR result, we really ought to set an example that we won't be a pushover this season, especially at the Lane.
I don't think there's much to be changed from the Norwich game, as I wasn't displeased by the team selection. However I would make some alterations:
--------------------------Cooper
Gilchrist--------Souttar-----------JLT------------Burrows
---------------------------Souza
Arblaster---------Hamer
Rak-Sakyi-----------------------------------------O'Hare
---------------------------Moore
I'd bring Rak-Sakyi in, because he looked decent 1st half at Barnsley, and I'd like to think he's up to speed now for a start in the league. Also drop Hamer deeper and push O'Hare wide. O'Hare has struggled for space in that #10 position, so I'd move him left and see if he can work with a little more space. This as well allows Hamer to play from a more natural position, and gives us greater numbers in the central area to win a battle for possession.
