My view on the game from a Sunderland perspective,

SAFC the better team in the first half and Sheffield United the better team in the second period.

Sunderland cant expect to miss a penalty and give up other clear cut opportunities and not pay the price and in the end you always pay the price for missing gilt edged opportunities.

You now have to go back 7 games for our last win and I wouldn't oppose anyone saying that we haven't got the legs or the squad for the long drawn out affair that this league is. We have some serious thinking to do or we will fade away and find ourselves on the edges of the top 6 if we aren't careful. Draws and losses get you nowhere.

I've got no complaints with the result and the top 3 will march on. Whether we will see you again later on in the season remains to be seen.

A sobering night for Sunderland.
What is your manager on?
He said this was a game Sunderland deserved to win. To win a game you you need to score goals.
That is something you didn't look like doing all night... including from the penalty spot.

Wow, not deserved, sometimes you win you play crap...and this is one. Don't do it again

I think if you limit another team to so few big chances, and then save a penalty, you don't deserve to lose a game.

At half time I would have taken 0-0, no doubt about it, but in the 2nd half the players showed that they have more bollocks than I do and were (imo) the better team.

On that basis, I think the win was just about deserved.

Well you gotta laugh.
Went out shopping cos shit pictures again and I record what comes through anyway plus Will be on line to watch later.
Saw Seriki on before went out but still saw OHare which made my mind up.
Watched pictures without audio TalkSport (woman 'expert' my r's) and started with Radio Sheffield (Gormless Gobshite Giddens generally 'Angel of Death' for local teams).
Get back. See their manager - flashes to 1-0 us as did hope and thought was possible then learn that NOT a booking which did NOT appear on screen as was a red card
(as seen and shown with Sooty) re Campbell!
And a good weekend was had by all REGARDLESS of what happens the rest of it.
Think the best signing we've made this season is Wilder selling his soul to the devil!
Although it's despite the refs from what I'm seeing.
Brook(e)s is batting again if anyone interested. (Talksport 2)
And the laughs keep coming.

"45' substitution

Substitution, Sheffield United. Femi Seriki replaces Callum O'Hare."

Must have been Sydie Peck I saw in an up field position.
I thought Campbell was missing at a glance (Again) and whilst out must have been injured re sending off.

But we got stronger and Wilder has made some good calls with subs this season which I never recall him being great at. RND when Burrows looked out on his feet Sam McCallum came on and gave us an out ball for two goal kicks in time added on But the Serki substitution was the game changer. Gilchrist look quite good at Centre Half
I was calling for Tom Davies for ages before the change, we were losing the midfield and something needed changing

How does it remain to be seen. We play you again?

It's a professional foul. Stopping an attack. Clear yellow.
that comes down to consistency & why do we not see it more often. because as i say ill be watching super sunday that will happen many a time & player will just get a talking to

There was a lot wrong with that performance tonight but focusing on the positives we showed real heart to stay in the game and basically we're well on top and looking stronger as game went on

I'm getting increasingly frustrated with hamer
Just doesn't look fit
You said Wilder had ruined our team after Leeds and Boro away.

Praying for the Bodo/Glimt fans who were at Old Trafford last night, BL tonight and will be at Edgeley Park tomorrow, who like me have been fucked over by trains but not like me will probably be on a bus somewhere near Edale right now

Sunderlands sending off was the fault of O'Nein playing a suicidal ball across the back. This is why he is playing in the FL and not the PL.

the sending off would have done it for us if you hadn't been down to 10 men as well now.

SAFC has had most of the half, should be leading but as always when you dont take your chances a sucker punch isn't far away. Young Watson is playing his best game yet for us but Roberts will come off in the second half for Mayenda because and yet again he has been crap.

BTW I would bet a pound to a penny that if Sheffield United had been given a penalty at the SOL. - you wouldn't have missed.
We've already missed a pen this season - we don't have a nailed-on scorer from pens

A much better performance tonight than the one on against Oxford, maybe my comments after the Oxford reault were questionable but that's what frustration does. That's one of the top clubs out of the way & hopefully our form continues ....... UTB
It's amazing how we see games differently i thought we were on it on Tues last night not so but 2 home games 6 points into the next

Must admit I was furious with both us and the ref at the end of the first half.

Us
I can't understand why when we have a Goal Kick we persist in playing tippy tappy between the CBs & GK.
Sunderland pressed high and we kept retreating further & further backwards , taking huge risks , until GK was so close to his line , he barely had room for a backswing to make the inevitable long kick upfield.
Time & again the tippytappy resulted in high risk & no advantage - I would love to know why CW insists on it when it is just giving confidence to the opposition press.
Also , turning backwards from halfway instead of sliding or dinking balls forward for our attackers to run onto.
Also the madness of Souttar asking to get a red when there were 2 other Blades defenders covering.

Ref
Completely conned by Mackems falling to the ground without barely if any contact (or was he just reluctant to book them ?) - if I were a ref I would be insulted by their cheating and have no hesitation in giving yellows.
We'll never stamp out the cheating if culprits never get yellows for it.

But in the second half we started to go forward led by Seriki.
Still the Mackems feigned fouls and I remember thinking when we scored that it was justice for their cheating.
There is no doubt that they were better than us at attacking but luckily for us not clinical enough in the box.
I think they had more of the game but we were more effective once Seriki began to show us the way.
Souza seems to be carrying an injury and Hamer is basically drifting in & out of games - I wish the latter would get central and get more on the ball.
When you watch Davies goal , it is incredible determination & skill to force half a yard of space then hit it hard whilst being pushed over.
If he can stay fit I think he will force his way into the side and be a good influence - probably ending up sharing minutes with Peck.
We must stop the yellows & reds - we have a mountain to climb at WBA with their athletic strikers and without our first choice CBs.
But Seriki is a good RB and Alfie looked better at CB than RB , so we need to train them in that formation this week.

Anyway , no one can argue with our results 😊

for anyone like me who was unable to see the game yesterday eve, heres a link to the full game replay

Really need to cut out this walking pace playing out from back and constant passing backwards
I have never seen a team pass the ball backwards so. Often, never

Hamer and peck been dreadful. Tonight
As has burrows and gilchrist
Totally agree.
If all this comes from CW instructions then I am dumbfounded as to how he thinks it's gonna help us.

We robbed you and you'll be back

The only other option I can think of is RND. But he's left-footed.
Robbo & RND as twin CBs is a frightening prospect.
It's either Gilchrist & Robbo as a two or them plus RND as a three if Wilder has his negative head on.
In either event we get to see if Seriki can last 90 mins.
It seems that there is a selection challenge almost every game now.
Our first choice CBs better be careful to avoid further unessesary reds.

Wow I never thought I would hear someone criticise the decision to sell Trusty!!!

Great 3 points against a good side who turned up and played well.

UTB
Trusty & CCV now twin CBs at Celtic playing in the Champions League

I am meaning more in terms of how they will play together, not the actual names on the team sheet as they more or less pick themselves
Right, i think second half yesterday they actually played better when gilchrist went to centre half, i know were playing him at Right back but he still doesn't look entirely comfortable there, so against wba we should be ok, although any more sendings off or injuries in the game and it's anyone's guess, at least the game after well be back up to full strength
