Or you could look at our results against Newcastle as an indication of who'll be favourites today.

They are a very good side. We need the Lane rocking today, a win would be fantastic.
Agree

Take them lightly at our peril

They seem to be , as nearly all current prem teams , athletic, mobile , quick and organised

A win would be brilliant

its a another 1 of those games that this is must win, even if its not easy but this is as easy as they'll get, & the confidence of being out of the relegation zone, will be huge. although interestingly we havent won back to back home games in premier league (with fans) since 2 november 2019

but i fancy us because we are completely different team at home compared to away. but we have ended up in weird situation where im not sure we put in a full 90 mins performance for quite a while. as looking at the last 2 we've been dreadful in 1 half & then come out looking transformed in the 2nd

I also hope he sticks with the same team and formation we finished with against Wolves and started with against Brighton.

They were unfortunate to ship the "goal of the month" so early against Brighton, but fought their way back into the game.

If we go back to 532 with McBurnie back in, I think we will struggle with Bournemouth's fast passing midfield. The 5221 or 541, whatever way you look at, seems to have plugged those defensive midfield errors. We are harder to play through defensively and we have two channels to go forward through.

Albeit, change it 2nd half depending on the situation and bring McBurnie and Anel on to get minutes in their legs and freshen up tired legs. McAtee seems particularly prone to cramp 2nd half.

It is good we have some decent injury cover on the bench at last, both upfront and in defence. I believe the current back 5 deserve to keep their places. The only potential change for me would be Osborne for Norwood to add some extra grit to the defensive midfield. But that's not going to happen. His 2nd half performance against Brighton was his best this season. I have been critical of him recently, but he actually showed more zest than Norwood last match.

But, we should all be aware Bournemouth are a cheating diving team. They will fall over in a gust of wind, we need to be disciplined, and we need to "shepherd " Solanke, like we did with Haaland. He remains their main threat.

If we manage all this, and with a raucous crowd behind them, we should get a point minimum.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

  • Bournemouth's sole victory away to Sheffield United was 1-0 in the second tier in August 1987.
  • The Cherries have lost six and drawn three of their 10 games away to the Blades in all competitions.
Sheffield United

  • Paul Heckingbottom's side have taken four points from their last two league matches, as many as in their previous 12 top-flight fixtures.
  • They have not gone three games unbeaten in the Premier League since July 2020.
  • Three of their 10 league goals this season have been own goals - no Blades player has netted more than twice in 2023-24.
  • Sheffield United have the division's worst defensive record, conceding 31 goals. Only Barnsley, who conceded 35 goals after 12 games in 1997-98, have let in more by this stage of a Premier League season.
  • The Blades begin this match in 18th place; their past eight top-flight wins came when starting the day bottom of the table.
Bournemouth

  • The Cherries have taken just one point from a possible 15 on their travels this season, conceding a league-high 17 away goals.
  • They are in danger of becoming the fourth side to concede two or more goals in four of their first six away matches in a Premier League season, and the first since Burnley in 2009.
  • Bournemouth are unbeaten in all five of their league fixtures against newly-promoted opposition since returning to the top flight in 2022 (W3, D2). Their last such defeat came at Sheffield United in February 2020.
  • Andoni Iraola's side have dropped 11 points from winning positions this term, a joint league high with Brentford and Burnley.
  • Dominic Solanke has scored six goals in 12 Premier League appearances this season, matching his tally from 33 games last term, with his shot conversion rate rising from 8% to 18% across the two campaigns.

Bournemouth are VERY good on the fast break. Need to be aware of breakaways when we win a corner or free kick in their last third. Need pacey defender (Bogle if playing? to stay back and cover.

With a strong home crowd getting behind our boys, really hope we can dominate the game and have a good level of aggression and pressure.

Utb!

They're 4th bottom for a reason. They're shite. (Edit... 5th bottom after Evertons deduction)

Larouci and Andre Brooks drop out from the bench to be replaced with Anel and Mcb.

think our best hope here is bournemouth are shot shy for long enough we can change that midfield round because it hasnt worked all season and im pretty sure it wont today

I like it; the BBC have us lining up as 3421 apart from Trusty and Robinson in each others places it looks like it has potential.

Good to see Anel and McBurnine back, surprised they're not starting if fully fit. Trusty preferred in the middle or Baldock preferred as RCB to Anrl now? Will be great to have McBurnine come on to defend our lead 2nd half got a good feeling bout today!

Would have prefered Slimane to Souza as well

It doesn't feel like the strongest potential lineup, but it's understandable they would stick with the team that has gotten us the last couple of results and hopefully 'hopefully' got a little understanding. Also expect Bournemouth to come at us very hard from the start.

How good are Kluivert and Semenyo at pressing? Maybe Oli Norwood will get a bit of time? 🤞

They seem to be concentrating on our right side
