Selles sacked

If we beat Ipswich 4-0 who's laughing then?? All you doubters. Have some faith. Symptomatic of this country at the moment. Everyone's so bloody pessimistic. The weather, the economy and now the Blades!

🤦‍♂️ There’s a word I’d like to use, but I’ll wait till after Ipswich and then resurrect this post

i backed you when people didnt you said youd win every game in 1st you tube interview you said you was full or energy i want you to win like you won us at home with hull city tigers you show the blades fanbase your passion come on ruben selles win every match pronto chow

How the hell you can say this I do not know.

We have set up so badly in every single match, he didn't have the credentials to warrant being our manager and he has certainly done FA to disprove it.

Trying to play Cannon and One on the wings, leaving Peck on his own in midfield time after time - these are mind blowingly bad decisions.

Sorry he's shown his hand and it's obvious he's clueless , cut the cord immediately please.
There's obviously a manager in there, just is he the right manager for us? We've seen it multiple times before, managers with a track record who, for whatever reason, didn't fit in here. My gut says he falls into that category too, but he'll no doubt find somewhere where his philosophy works.

I’ll put my mortgage on it not working for Selles. You don’t look this bad & unorganised for four games and then suddenly spark into life. We’ll lose to Ipswich and then we’ll be 12-15 points behind the top teams.

My personal opinion is Selles doesn’t have a strong enough coaching & management team along side him. You look at Rohl and as inexperienced as he was he surrounded himself with experience. That’s what Selles should have done.

Didn’t Luton take this approach with their manager and it backfired?

We need experience at this level. Not another manager who deserves a chance at this level.

We’ve got some good pro’s in that team now an experienced leader would do wonders with our squad.

We would never have got Wilder if we went by that theory..

Going for big ‘proven’ names is why we ended up where we did.

If Grimsby can play the way Selles wants to play then our lot of idiots should be able too. Hopefully turning the squad over a bit improves the commitment of the team. Can’t believe players are getting a free pass for the last few games.

We need a football manager who is first team coach, who improves the players as the perms we paid for are all young.

We don’t need a manager who wants to run the whole club, signings, sponsors, pies etc

Now I’m not saying that’s Selles but that’s why Wilder ain’t here.

We’ve got a manager with his ‘project’ that seems to be his be all.

He also came to us in League One, a league he'd just been promoted with Northampton to. He had a full pre-season with the squad and brought in his own players.

There's a big difference between managing players in the Championship & lower leagues. I wouldn't be against the appointment at all if it had happened in the pre-season, right now we need to get experience.

Now that we appear to have the squad Selles probably wanted, albeit late, then we can judge whether he is a good coach/manager or not.
I reckon the squad is almost Sellés proof.

That squad has the personnel to play almost any system under the sun now. All he has to do is ensure he’s not putting square pegs on round holes.

E.g. even 4-3-3 he can pick Matos as a defensive one but then all he has to avoid is stupidly putting two borderline 10s as the attacking midfielders.

We were League One at the time 😂 Its not like we were looking to get promoted to the prem and gambled on him, we were in the 3rd tier of 4 "professional" leagues in England. Only one other division below us.

I think against Ipswich hr just swaps Peck for Matos! He needs to change formation to have two centre mids in there not attacking mids alongside one defensive mid. So a change to 4231 but I'm not convinced he will. Ironically he did play that formation at Hull.

I can’t see the point of wasting another 2 weeks with this clown in charge regardless of players brought in… bring a new person in and give them a mini pre-season with this new group… hard re-

i think hes got 2 games ipswich and charlton were not likely to get owt at ipswich unless he changes his formation so just think the charlton home game is the one we cant afford to go more than 6 games before making a change and if hamer is still with us he cannot play him and o'hare in the same team

Exactly this. Putting the best players on the field all at once doesn't give you the best team.

O'Hare and Hamer spent most of last season playing off either Campbell or Moore. Peck and Souza did the defending. Now he wants them to be running up and down the pitch like prime Keane and Vieira. Not going to work as we've already seen.

The owners need to act now...i can see a senario where we lose at Ipswich and he has the noose round his neck...only to get a win against Charlton and get a stay of execution...and then its rinse and repeat lose lose lose get a draw then lose lose get a win...its just how badly managed relegation threatened teams perform.

Of course there’s a way back. Just win matches. Fans aren’t going to be abusing him every week if we’re winning games. Sadly it’s a big ‘if’, but I don’t buy there being no way back now.
Some definitely will, they did it when Hecky was here every time he lost. I remember someone sat near me absolutely fuming when he turned Wilder’s Boro over and the Kop were chanting ‘what’s the score’.

Genuine mental illness some of them.

That's exactly it. I'm sure with the team he's got now well improve because we can't stay this bad but we should be top six this season, no question. With Selles in charge I can't see above tenth. But maybe he'll do things differently v Ipswich. I doubt it myself.

I’d agree but he delivered the chaos he promised and I can’t see him getting anyone on the pitch organised to win games. It’s been sheer confusion from the players. I’ve watched him on the sideline, he’s like one of those tall nylon dolls with air blowing up them waving their arms about. If he’s having to give so much direction from the sideline he’s not got them playing the system in training.

We win a couple then lose a couple everything just resorts back to the shocking start.

All about how he sets up at Ipswich for me.

If it's the same system and set up but with the odd personnel change, I think he's done for barring an unexpected outcome in the game.

You could have prime Makalele, Keane, Kante etc playing Peck's role and we'd struggle.

Change it up, plug the gaps, look more threatening, score a goal or two, even get a point or 3, then who knows.

After the last week, I'm not overly convinced it will be the latter.
