Scouting infrastructure problems

Brentford have been doing this since they were in league one so it’s good to see us adopting a similar approach. The signings obviously make the headlines now but I guess in future we’ll be able to do the deals during the longer summer window. It’s certainly a signal of the intent from the new owners in their approach and also Wilders willingness to work with this approach.

It’s noticeable that these deals got done and announced AFTER the main signings were done.

I don’t entirely think it puts pressure on the academy lads as the U23’s development squad will also be there for the new lads and the academy lads. They’ll all be playing with a higher quality or different types of players so it will help them all develop together

I think it puts pressure on us to get the academy to cat 1 as well and bring on better players as well, keep pushing the bar higher.

It’ll be interesting to see how these work out, Sheffield is certainly a diverse city with plenty of young foreign students around so we should also have a good base of a city for them.
Isn’t that what Jay aka BladesAnalytic is/was doing at Luton?

I don't know what he does to be honest, i know he did something with Peterboro, I think which was why he had to stop doing his Blades Analytics stuff and giving his insight on the podcast. I wasn't aware / don't recall him going to Luton.

But speaking generally about our approach, i think we have been using data for a number of years, right back to Adkins in League one with the GPS vests, to Wilder developing further.

I'd be interested to know more about our approach and see how it progresses.

I've been looking more into this briefly and it just makes me even more annoyed

This player had a decent scoring record in the French second division last season. The stats are all available on Wikipedia. It took me 30 seconds to find them.

He signs for Brentford for just £1.6 million and has already scored twice in three games. At the age of 21 and a former French youth international he is likely to only get better.

Could we have scouted him before Brentford got him?

If not, why not?
If we could, why didn't we?

This is why you don't rely on Wikipedia 😂
