Coal mining "decline" verses, Thatchers imports....Coal mining was in terminal decline in the UK long before Thatcher was PM. For instance peak coal usage on the railway was just after the end of WW2; steam traction was eliminated by British Railways by August 1968. Harold Wilson closed more pits than Thatcher did. Marxist criminals such as Scargill believed the taxpayer should keep paying whatever it took to keep his grift going.
So much misinformation surround this subject. Just spend 5 mins looking at the import amounts and tell me we couldn't have produced that for less without Thatchers petty war on the working class.
Edit: Marxist criminals....? Please explain WTF Marxism has to do with taxpayers paying billions to import overpriced Russian coal? Also, Scargill wasn't even close to being a Marxist, Communist or Trotskyist, He was barely a socialist. A great public speaker, but out of his depth around a negotiating table.
