Samir Carruthers

They are professionals and you are an amateur
Wether they know more than you or not their opinion is obviously more valuable as someone pay a them to articulate it

Never see or hear them slagging youngsters off and saying they shouldn't be given a chance

They are paid to present Radio shows, not to deliver opinions. I’ve seen and heard them. I know the game better than the three of them put together.

It’s embarrassing to hear people ask one of the numpties ‘what do you think?’ as though it matters in the slightest. Still worse to hear one of the numpties say ‘that’s a good point’. How do they fucking know?

Subject to learning the technical side in about three days, I could do their jobs far far better than any of them. I have a significant advantage over any of them in that I know my way around the English language and football. Two things they could improve significantly.

There's some on here might disagree. Only in S2, mind...;)

Tin-hat time: I don't rate Carruthers. Keeps himself busy but zero end product for me.

Where we cap doff local radio hacks and hang on their every word as though they are the footballing equivalent of Arlott and Cardus?

I would give the thick fuckers a lesson in English before even allowing them to discuss football with me. I use more words, more elegantly; more appropriately; in a single day than they have in their entire joint vocabulary. I’ve also seen and read more about the beautiful game than the three stooges put together.

Pygmies.

You'd need a new catchphrase, mind. 'Only in S2' is wearying your audience...

I'd pick Lundstram to start at QPR.

I don't think Carruthers is a replacement for Fleck, to me he's more a flair, run with the ball kind of player. I'd see him as the understudy to Brooks, if he was starting every game.

Could you see Samir tracking the runner and doing the last ditch block / tackle Fleck did for us against Derby for example?

I agree with others in that I can see him moving on, which is a shame as he does have talent.
I thought I would never see Duffy and Brooks in the same eleven, but CW has managed it.
But its nice to have a wealth of talent and such a strong bench.

What a load of pompous bollox you come up with Pinchy

Apologies if this has been mentioned already, but one thing I noticed is a couple of times recently CW has glowingly lauded players not involved for their top class attitudes. He did it after the Leeds game on Friday and another time recently, I don't remember which game.

Both times he namechecked players, but neither time was Samir mentioned. Probably just coincidence, but I did wonder if he'd not been pleasing Mester Wilder, slacking or something?

In saying that, he probably wouldn't continue to be a fixture on the bench if there were a problem. Suppose it's much more a case of him being hellishly unlucky with both the stellar midfield standards this season & with Brooksy's skyrocketing emergence.

Unfortunately for him, his needs don’t matter. Only those of Sheffield United do. Lundstram will play and rightly so.

“He is also proving that Billy Sharp can still play in the Championship. Phenomenal record at every level he has played.”

Looks like almost everyone loves Our Billy.

....Well, I say 'almost'...

Yes, far far better than the local RS hacks could even contemplate. They wouldn’t know where to start...

I've only heard one other person speaking like this in recent times, and that's Donald Trump. Being asked questions about topics like education and foreign policy and he'll start talking about how great he is at cooking and how good his TV ratings are from a show 5 years ago. It rubs people up the wrong way because people want to talk to him about the country and it's issues and all he wants to talk about is himself. Can you see any parallels?

You say you use the English language so well, but hardly anybody ever knows what you're on about so it's a little bit redundant really. It's like when you read people's CV and it says something like 'i'm a great people person and have a great personal skillset!' Well, by saying that, by definition you've already annoyed me, therefore proving your point wrong that you were trying to make in the first place. You create strange terms and in jokes with yourself and then use these terms to label people you don't even know. It's bizarre.

You speak as the self appointed arbiter of all things Sheffield United. To do that, your record on these things needs to be bang on and yours is literally one of the worst on here. You don't engage debate, you just tell people that they're wrong, it's black and white with no gray area and you're on the right side and they're on the wrong.

I don't mind trolling, I think it's funny if done properly. I really like intelligent debate though and you, personally, provide much more when you join us and engage on that level rather than pushing this weird online persona you've developed. It's not too late.

Mmmmmm. This could get interesting .....

One of those is most certainly not mine! Trump would be entirely at home on RS with all the other numpties. Presenters and contributors, alike,

I'll tell you what though, however plays I bet fleck is playing on Saturday no matter how well he plays

What did I do!? o_O

I’m afraid I’m at a loss (no, of course I’m not, but just for the sake of argument...) as to how there can be an intelligent debate arising out of the proposition that a snotty-nosed sixth-former, school tie askew, who happens to be on work experience at the local hack radio, knows more about the beautiful game than a bloke who has had football, the Blades in particular, close to his heart and mind for over half a century and is just a tiny bit smarter than the young tyro.

What do you think, Rob?

Only in S2, Brian.

i'm with the Pinchmeister on the subject of RS or '6th form radio' as i call it.. they're embarrassing

No, no, no. You’re wrong. They are local radio presenters. That means they are on a higher plane when it comes to knowledge of the game.

If ever I’m struggling with the finer tactical points, I get in touch with Vanessa Fucking Feltz.

I have never heard any of them talking as much aresgravy as you do on a daily basis

No it's because you talk absolute shite

What you and others fail to appreciate ( and I must admit I fell into this category until very recently ) is that when a man is on a mission to become Supreme Ruler of the Universe, he can well do without minor distractions such as having to respond to silly observations made by the likes of us.

I for one have, therefore, decided to try not to irritate Pinchy ( or " El Pincho "as his many Spanish followers refer to him ) any more and let him get on with the serious matter in hand - it can't be an easy task.

P.S. For a translation of El Pincho , go to SpanishDict and scroll down to number 5 - it's well worth the effort.

Don't know why, just don't think we look as much of a unit when Samir is in... He's a bit of a headless chicken.

Our form in the first 3 games (two defeats) could have been down to this. I said at the time we needed Duffy in... And what has happened since has been phenomenal

I would stick in Lundstam to replace Fleck during his suspension. I've been generally disappointed with Carruthers so far, he doesn't produce enough on a consistent basis, and he doesn't seem to fit as well in to the team as much as Lundstram does. So far in Lundstram I have seen a footballer who can seemlessly slot in to the side when required and after a couple of shaky performances he is growing and developing as a footballer. I think Lundstram is going to grow and develop in to an excellent player for us, whilst I think Carruthers is going to be a player who drifts away from the first team picture,
It wasn't really a seemless transition when he replaced Coutts. From the off you could see there was something missing in the middle of the park for us.

Fleck's suspended for the next game - who comes in?

I like Lundstram, but I think he's jumped a place in the pecking order due to being a natural replacement when Coutts is out, but not Fleck. I actually think Carruthers is a far more logical replacement for Fleck than his position at the start of the season with him and Duffy vying for the shirt.

3 games in 8 days anyone else hope/reckon he'll get a chance?

Hahaha comedy gold! You crack me up, keep it at! :D

Starting to look very much like a spare part here now. Not even getting minutes off the bench any more.

Fully expect him to be moved on in January, which is a real shame.

It does seem that CW doesn't see samir as a real part of his plans going forward, I wouldn't be surprised like a few on here if he was moved on in January. Do we think oztumer from Walsall will still be a target to replace him? Only 6 months left, like Louis Moult and Ryan Leonard, all 3 should be available at a reasonable price because of this. There will be competition especially for Moult but if we could get those 3 in January with probably samir, Hanson and maybe Lavery out I think that would be a decent window.

There's a direct correlation to the emergence of Brooks to the demise of Carruthers.

I'd feel sorry for him, but he had 3 games at the start of the season to press his case. Sometimes in such fine margins careers can be made...

I do agree with you on that one, although brooks doesn't seem yet to be able to play in the tight areas like Duffy to link midfield and attack, he seems better as 1 of the forwards, and if samir does leave it leaves a gap for a challenger to Duffys role, which I think oztumer would be a good signing to compete with Duffy
