Robinson

Let's flip this. You tell me what he does that makes him good enough to start? Or you just digging for an argument?
I`m not digging for anything and I`m not sure what you mean by flip this, I am saying that if Wilder thinks he is good enough to start, that's good enough for me .

I’m not gonna have a go at Robinson it’s not his fault that Wilder picks him.
I just can’t see why he gets picked before Billy Sharp who was desperately unlucky not to score after only a few minutes on the pitch.

Thought he did okay first half but his pressing is nowhere near aggressive enough and he simply doesn’t offer enough. It felt like Mousset was playing as a lone striker. Seems like a nice lad and I’m still hoping he’ll offer something but on the evidence so far this is a level too far for him.

Come on eh, we've just put in a bloody unbelievable performance (which perhaps more than any win/point so far really shows we belong and how far we've come) and the most posts are on the feller who hasn't done so well?? Giyoor!!

This lad needs to start against Fylde and he needs to stand out a fucking mile if he's going to keep any credibility as a United player.

He has a tendency of "pressing" without being anywhere near causing a problem for the opponent, let alone winning the ball. While teammates throw themselves into tackles I find myself wondering if someone have kidnapped a relative of his and are forcing him to never intercept opposition passes. Alternatively he could be really low on confidence. He did have some neat touches today, but we need a lot more than that.

Agreed. Oddly, when he high press he's often the one not doing it right and messes up for everyone else as well. I don;t get this confidence thing. Running around and trying your hardest has zip to do with confidence. I thought he did ok for a bit. Made enough run to give Mousset a bit of space but the Frenchman put in twice as much effort closing down.

I really want to like all of our players nowadays. It’s not always been the case.

Looking at it objectively he’s been asked to play again in a game where we are going to be chasing shadows for long stretches. That said he’s not really done much when the ball has been near him. A few headers won and put a good cross in for Mousset.

5.5/10 performance compared to a 7.5/10 for Mousset in my opinion. Easy to see why he’s not liked.

He also seems less likely than McBurnie of turning the corner and becoming an asset as well, however it’s not beyond the realms of possibility given that a lot thought Lundstram shouldn’t be let near the PL a few months ago and Basham had a period of being pretty average in L1.

Mostly agree but the likes of McBurnie, Lundstram and Basham have always had assets and positive aspects to their game which could be worked with.
I'm not seeing anything from this lad. Most people would run their blood to water to take the chance that this lad's been given in the Premier League. He doesn't seem capable or bothered when he's out there.

He isn’t particularly quick, not physical, not really got an eye for goal, not a “fox in the box,” not an aerial threat and hasn’t got the silky feet of Didzy. So it’s not looking great for Robbo with the window looming.

Hopefully that's the last time he starts a game for us.

And I never thought I'd be saying that.

It was like playing with 10 men.

He's lacking in every department. He still doesn't understand how to close down. He has no belief in his ability and certainly his pace.

Our players, and any players, should press with an 'I want that ball' mentality, not a 'hopefully he passes it before I get near' mentality.

Robinson is the one player that hasn't stepped up to this level. Loan him out in Jan, maybe he can improve but right now he ain't good enough by a country mile.

Sympathy for him in that he's been asked to play a different role to what he's been used to but he's about the only player this season who's been a passenger almost each time.

Nice kid but we need more from someone in his position.

It’s almost beating a dead horse now. We should be lauding every player for their effort tonight, only 10 starters for us gave us 100% effort. The chants for McGoldrick were telling. He just doesn’t seem to want it does Robinson. Unfortunate, but he’s genuinely been shit.

Loaning him out to rebuild his confidence, fitness and value has to be a good idea.

Hopefully back to Preston.

I didn’t think he too bad as it went. His job is to press and I often think he slacks a bit but I think he was better today.
Press !! He couldn’t press a spot on his arse never mind pressing on a football pitch

What the fuck was his pressing when they started their build up from defense for the first? Poor as fuck.

And if that would have been Mcgoldrick hitting the post with the header when it was easy to score ?

Thought he was alright today, and as already said should have had an assist.

That said, I think he’d benefit from going on a Michail Antonio esque body development to beef him up a bit and make him less easy to just brush off the ball.
Personally, I would play him and mousset against Liverpool and try and play the same game plan that we did tonight. But hopefully we'll be able to take the chances against them

Freeman up top is preferable to Robinson.

Personally I would get rid, he just isn't good enough. Didsy must play at Liverpool.

Overall during his time here? I agree.
On today’s performance I think that’s harsh.

Put himself about more than usual, showed a bit of physicality and should have had an assist when he put that header a plate for Mousset. His link up with him generally speaking was good.

He’s not exactly worrying McGoldrick for that undisputed first choice spot but today I saw signs of improvement.

Blimey what a supportive lot you are!

You have to be realistic, he's not good enough. You could say he's still settling in, getting used to how we play. That doesn't excuse his shambolic ball control and being told constantly who to close down. Sorry he's a dud and we should get some money back on him.
