If the Prince had for some reason lost his shit last season during lockdown and sacked Wilder I could understand the shock and huge disappointment. But not after the 28 matches I’ve watched this season.

Managers leave clubs when they hit a bad run of form and can’t turn things around. That’s football and it’s how it’s been for the 30+ years I’ve been watching.

So no shock or disappointment from me. We gave Wilder his chance to get back on track but unfortunately he couldn’t, so we are where we are now.

I’m disappointed but not shocked. Wilders pronouncements were pointing to this since January. Unlikely that we’ll know which straw finally broke the camels back but it’s churlish to put ALL the blame, as some of done, on one party,

But that’s a post for if this parting of ways was due to football reasons. It’s not, it’s for political reasons. It’s because wilder doesn’t want a director of football and does want a new training ground (or at least a roof) and to keep his squad together. It’s because price bollocks didn’t like wilder criticising him in the press and wanted more from his big (in relative terms) signings.
It’s a political divorce.
The on field performance is irrelevant, and that’s just makes it hurt more.

I wasn’t alive when we sold Deane and Agana on the same day. I wasn’t alive at the end of the the Bassett years. I was still young when we last got relegated from the prem and sacked Warnock. This is the first time I’ve had one of these horrendous experiences following united.
And I’m in bits, this is absolutely horrendous, it feels like a close family member has died, there’s a knot in my stomach, I’m drinking and drinking and drinking. It’s horrendous. All of you than have gone through this repeatedly then full respect. I’ve got nothing more to say.
The older you get the more you get use to this kind of thing happening at our club, you seem to roll with the punches better as nothing surprises you anymore.

It's a sad day because most of us wanted him to stay, but Like some have mentioned we have had days like this before, relegation to old div four, selling best players on same day, losing play off's, relegation at Chelsea, relegation against Wigan etc. But In between all those they were a few Highs, That's why when they come around we have to enjoy every minute, because as a Blade we know something is lurking around the corner to kick us in the bollocks.

It seems a theme at the club we love , when something good comes along we like to destroy it, it's just another day in the life of being a Blade Unfortunately.

We move on, The club and the Fans are still here.

As a mere 40 year old, I've not seen as many of the highs and lows as others, but I've seen enough. I remember being inconsolable as a kid in the 80s getting relegated, listening to the Chelsea debacle on the radio etc etc. But now? I've watched this all unfold with a wry smile on my face. Not because it's funny, but simply because it's all so very Sheffield United isn't it? I texted my dad last night just to say it appeared we were imploding again, he just replied along the lines of "it wouldn't be the same if they didn't". It's very disappointing to say the least, but as the rather clichéd phrase goes, you don't support Sheffield United for the glory!

This is no worse than when we sold Jordan Slew to Blackburn, you fucking fanny
For only £1.5 million as well. Despite not being good enough to get in our team at the time he went on to be the record goalscorer for England andift the Champions League.

You my son are now OFFICIALLY a Blade.
Welcome on board.

I 100% thought you were about 50

Anyone who was at the Walsall game or Chelsea when we went down knows that this is just another day.
I was at that fucking Chelsea game with the old fella...Flo/Hodges put us 2-1 up and I think at one point we were 5th bottom....the rest, as they say, is history. Had to go to dinner with my brother and his family after as he was living in London...it felt like going to a wake!

Completely agree with your synopsis here. I have witnessed many highs and lows and was there at the Wigan game and away at Chelsea. Those of us at the older end have seen many lows and disappointments.

I would however add that I feel a much deeper sadness this time. The rapport we had with club and manager and players was unique during Chris wilder’s tenure. I don’t think we will ever see this again.

in the unlikely event that we achieve success again under this current regime, it will be at the expense of that deep bond between club and supporters.

i know I can’t persuade those that are glad he has gone that we have lost that wonderful connection for good. I don’t think they really care about that anyway, measuring everything by league position.

But for me to walk into that ground knowing that our manager was a blade (and that our captain is a blade) made me feel so proud and to tell other people who I supported made me feel ten feet tall. From today I won’t feel like that. I’m just another supporter of another club owned by a rich guy with no genuine connection to that club. It’s very sad.

Enjoy the drinking...that’s the good bit!

Agree with you - Except if the on field performances were better this season and his signings had been a success I think he’d still be here, no way the Board could challenge him or go against his demands then

I was at Chelsea when we went down. I was there when that prick Hopkins scored at Wembley. I was around when we sold Deano and Fjortoft on the same day. I was there when we capitulated to Wolves in the 1st half in Cardiff. I was there when we lost to Wigan to go down the last time we were in The Prem.

This feels worse than all those events.

I'm literally devastated as I've never known the club feel so connected as I have these years under CW.

Heartbroken 😓
Bert was at all those games, plus the semi finals and Boxing Day (Stood on their Kop.)

Yesterday has not irritated him in the least. Owners, players, managers come and go.
Only fans remain for life and Bert is looking forward to next season.

Have some perspective mate and don’t do yourself any harm with the drinking. It’s only a game.

Take it from me, drinking does not help and will get you soon. Cut it down.

Think we need to post a thread with the hotline number to the Samaritans and put it as a sticky.

Also maybe the AA clinic, drinking doesn't help...well it does, but then you get a nasty hangover and regret it even more and start crying like a big baby even more so.

Was at swillsboro for 4.0. Watched us drop to the 4th division against Walsall. Been to all the playoff finals, cup semis since the Wendy at Wembley.
My lads first experience was Wolves at the millennium stadium, couldn't get a word out of him for 3 days after.
After all that disappointment have we lost our love for the Blades?, no feckin way, this is a lifelong love for my team and onwards and upwards. UTB.

Over the years of being a Blade you get used to heartbreak, that's why when we do have success we grab it and embrace it so well.

I hear ya fella, We all felt that we had our club back the last few years, it's been another great ride along the Blades Rolla coaster, like I said Our club seems to want to destroy anything that's good and inflict some more pain on to the fans.
Who knows what the future holds, hopefully we get a few more highs along the way, so the pain we suffer as Blades is worth it.
UTB ⚔️
